The Hochar Père et Fils is sourced from vineyards near the village of Aana in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. The 2016 vintage is a blend of Cinsault (50%), Grenache (35%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). The grapes were fermented between 27°C and 29°C with maceration in cement vats, followed by 6 months in French Nevers oak barrels. Château Musar is Lebanon's most famous producer. The winery does not make rosé every vintage, because the winemaker (the late Serge Hochar) sought very specific characteristics from the grapes he uses to create a fine, delicate and elegant rosé. The 2017 is composed of the indigenous Lebanese grapes Obaideh (55-65%) and Merwah (30-40%), thought to be ancestors of Chardonnay and Semillon, and a small amout of Cinsault.

From the distillery: The Chateau Musar Arack is made from grape alcohol with an average age of five years. Traditionally, arack is distilled twice, then anis seeds are added in the third distillation.
