2012 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon - CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2012 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon - CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96JS, 96VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer to Kalon Vineyard CCS is Clone 4 from another block, and always seems to hit all the sweet spots on my palate. It’s aged 20 months in 100% new Darnajou barrels. The good news is there are 520 cases of it. Just a prodigious wine, this spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon is inky bluish/purple with a gorgeous nose of spring flowers, blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, a touch of background toast and graphite. It has a very full-bodied, multidimensional mouthfeel and a skyscraper-like finish. It is fabulously open, sexy and a total thrill to smell and taste. This should continue to drink well for two decades. (RP)" (10/2014)

2008 Sine Qua Non "The Line" California Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Sine Qua Non "The Line" California Grenache (98RP, 97VN, 95JS, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine was just released in April of this year, and is a blend of 87.5% Grenache, 11% Syrah, and 1.5% Viognier, with 21% whole clusters used in the Grenache component. Seventy-eight percent of it came from the 11 Confessions Vineyard and the balance from Bien Nacido and the White Hawk. It is no measly wine at 15.5% alcohol, but it displays extraordinary berry fruit and kirsch notes intermixed with lavender and other floral components. Intense, full-bodied, voluptuously textured, and stunningly pure, with no real noticeable oak (21% new French oak was used, most of it the larger demi-muids), this beauty has put on weight and is showing additional complexity since I first tasted it. (RP)" (08/2011)

2013-2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend Vertical
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013-2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend Vertical, including 1-bottle of 2013 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97WS, 94VN) and 1-bottle of 2014 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97JD, 97RP, 94VN, 94WS). Of the 2013 Saxum "Booker Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Leading off the wines tasted from bottle, the 2013 Booker Vineyard is one of the prettier, more elegant and pure examples of this cuvee I can recall. A blend of 67% Syrah and the rest Mourvedre, fermented with 30% whole cluster, this total thrill ride offers sensational notes of creme de cassis, black raspberries, ground herbs and crushed flowers to go with a full-bodied, ultra-pure, silky and seamless style on the palate. This tannin quality is off the charts, but it needs short term cellaring to really show at its best. (JD)" (08/2016)

2009 Château des Tours Vacqueyras Réserve
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Château des Tours Vacqueyras Réserve (93RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensational 2009 Vacqueyras should age as well as its 2004 counterpart, but it is a headier cuvee with relatively high alcohol (probably 15+%). It exhibits abundant notes of kirsch liqueur, licorice and raspberry in addition to a full-bodied style filled with fruit and character. Aged completely in tank, it comes across like a family member of the great Chateau Rayas. This is the home estate of Emmanuel Reynaud, who has been producing the wines of Rayas since 1997. A relatively large estate of nearly 100 acres, Domaine des Tours fashions some remarkable value priced reds and whites. 93+ Points (RP)" (10/2011)

2013 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill a Way Vineyard-Exposition Three" Sonoma Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill a Way Vineyard-Exposition Three" Sonoma Valley Syrah (100RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The last of the three is the 2013 Syrah Exposition 3. Like its sibling, it is a 125-case cuvée of 84% Syrah and 16% cofermented Viognier. There was no inclusion of stems on this particular wine. This is the most La Mouline-like of the trio, no doubt because of the high percentage of Viognier, with extraordinary bacon fat, violets, lychee, black raspberry, sweet cherry, licorice and tapenade. The wine is velvety textured, full-bodied, but wonderfully pure, rich and striking. All three of these wines are incredible achievements in winemaking, and mind-blowing to someone like myself, who visited Guigal every year from 1978 to 2012 and would never have dreamed that someone in California, in addition to Manfred Krankl, could somehow pull off wines so similar to those from the Rhône Valley. Well, here they are. (RP)" (10/2016)

2007 Merry Edwards "Tobias Glen" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Merry Edwards "Tobias Glen" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (93WE, 91W&S, 90CG). Wine Enthusiast: "Drinkable now, but has the structure for the cellar. Grown in a Forestville vineyard from modern Dijon clones, it’s very fruity, offering clean, pure flavors of cherries, raspberries, blueberries and spices. The cool climate contributes fresh, zesty acidity, but the tannins are considerable." (06/2010)

2012 Joseph Phelps "Backus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2012 Joseph Phelps "Backus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (97VN, 95JS, 95RP, (92-95ST)). Vinous: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Backus Vineyard has really blossomed over the last year. A glorious, towering Cabernet Sauvignon offers super depth an intensity, with the voluptuous personality of the vintage on full display. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, mocha and espresso all flesh out in the glass. The Backus is not as open nor expressive as the Insignia is today, but it is tremendous in its beauty and overall pedigree. This is a terrific example of contemporary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the last vintage made from the vineyards that were planted in 1975. (AG)" (10/2015)

2007 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is one of the very finest young wines I have ever tasted from Randy Dunn. Layers of dark red fruit, blackberries, flowers, mint and licorice emerge from this seamless, large-scaled wine. This is a rich, opulent 2007 that never abandons its traditional sense of structure. All of the aromas and flavors build beautifully towards the immensely rewarding, intense, seductive finish. This is a dazzling showing from Randy Dunn. The 2007 is atypically open today. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027. (AG)" (12/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Peter Michael "La Carrière" Knights Valley Chardonnay (95RP, 93VN, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay la Carriere opens with a seriously intense nose of ripe peaches, lemon curd and grapefruit peel with hints of nutmeg, acacia honey, orange blossoms and buttered toast. Medium-bodied, very fine, fresh and elegant, it has a lively backbone lifting the citrus and savory flavors, finishing long and minerally. (LPB)" (10/2017)

Bid on this bottle of 2015 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St-Jacques" Vieilles Vignes (95RP, (92-94BH), (92-94JG), 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind, Jean-Marie Fourrier's distinctive fingerprint was immediately recognizable in the 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, a beautiful wine that soared from the glass with a projected bouquet of wild berries, peonies, orange rind and subtle currant leaf. Medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent, it's a concentrated, fleshy wine with considerable mid-palate depth and dimension, structured around fine, even melting tannins and concluding with a long, intense finish. 2006 Alban "Lorraine" Edna Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Alban "Lorraine" Edna Valley Syrah (100JD, 100RP, 97WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Named after his raven-haired Irish wife, the 2006 Syrah Lorraine, which comes from more sandy soils, is another prodigious effort. Like all of these wines, it is a remarkable wine of extraordinary intensity, with a stunning nose of blueberries, bacon fat, camphor, and even darker blackberries, along with unreal minerality and definition for a wine of this size and power. Full-bodied, with profound intensity of flavor as well as purity, this is another wine that spent nearly three and a half years in barrel prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. 2013 Maybach "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Maybach "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 97DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are roughly 600 cases of the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium, all of which comes from the Weitz Vineyard on the eastern Vaca Mountain hillside of Oakville at an elevation of about 1,000 feet above the Silverado Trail. This is shallow soil interspersed with loads of pebbles and stones. This wine is incredible first-growth material – a magical Cabernet Sauvignon with an opaque purple color, an extraordinary nose of blackberry and cassis, white flowers, crushed rock and minerality followed by a full-bodied majestic mouthfeel with phenomenal balance, purity and overall equilibrium. Stunningly rich and impressive, this wine will hit its peak in 8-10 years and has the potential to last 40-50 years. For those who keep track of such things, the wine was completely aged in 100% new Darnajou and Taransaud barrels. (RP)" (10/2015)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Reynvaan "In the Hills - Foothills In The Sun Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (95RP, 94WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fermented with 6% Viognier, the 2015 Syrah In The Hills is already very expressive, bursting with aromas of ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, grilled meats, lavender and black olive. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and lavish, paradoxically fresh and mouthwateringly saline despite its low acidity, with a savory core of fruit and a nicely delineated finish. 2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 96WE, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monumental wine in the making, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines that presents such an over the top array of aromas and flavors that it’s hard to figure out what you think about it with just a quick glance. It’s only with the second or third sip that you really start to see how special this effort truly is. Offering up perfumed, intense aromas of plum, violets, ink, licorice and black currants, it flows onto the palate with a massive, incredibly full-bodied texture that builds through the mid-palate and carries layers of polished tannins, awesome purity of fruit and blockbuster length. Most likely not for everyone given the sheer size, it is an incredible wine in my opinion. Still tasting like a barrel sample, it will have 30+ total years of longevity. Drink 2017-2037. 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100DC, 100JS, 100RP, 100VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins. This is a 30- to 40-year wine and a profound effort from this famous vineyard in Yountville. Drink it over the next 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2015)

2009 Williams Selyem "Drake Estate" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Williams Selyem "Drake Estate" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (94ST, 90WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-hued yellow. Highly complex aromas of pear skin, smoky peat, iodine, flowers and lemon zest. Reminds me a bit of an Islay whisky. Densely packed, spicy and focused, with excellent energy to the candied citrus, mineral and spice flavors. This has a powerful core of minerality and shows superb depth and back end energy. Finishes long and smoky, with strong suggestions of minerals, violet and iodine. Wild stuff. (ST)" (05/2011)

2001 Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a slightly curious hint of lactic character that detracts slightly from the overall sense of purity though not so much as to render the almost fully mature aromas of secondary fruit and earth unpleasant. There is good verve and detail to the velvety middle weight flavors that display a lovely bead of minerality on the solidly persistent finish that evidences a subtle but perceptible touch of warmth. As the description suggests, this is a little awkward but not without its appeal. For my taste this is knocking on the door of its full apogee if not quite there yet. Note that I tried several different bottles at the tasting and all of them displayed this lactic character so I can only assume that it's the wine and not these particular examples. Of the 2012 Carlisle "Palisades Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Sirah ,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "From Napa Valley, the 2012 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard boasts off-the-charts richness along with classic notes of blackberries, blueberries, camphor and spring flowers. The colossal concentration, massive extract, surprisingly sweet tannin and high alcohol (15.4%) suggest it should age effortlessly for 20+ years. (RP)" (12/2013)

2010 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2010 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (97JD, 96RP, 96VN, 94ST, 94WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "A thrill ride of a wine, the profound 2010 Saxum James Berry Vineyard, tasted out of barrel, looks to be every bit as good as the ’09 and the ‘07. Exotic, perfumed, and intense, it delivers riveting aromas of blackberry liqueur, lilac, violet, licorice, and mineral like qualities that flow to a seamless, perfectly proportioned wine that is beautifully concentrated, layered, and incredibly long. It’s hard to find fault here, and this has a rich, supple texture that somehow stays light, elegant, and focused. While this will be hard to resist on release, it should ideally be given 4-7 years of bottle age, with a total drink window of 20-25 years not being out of the question. If this note is not clear enough for you, let me be as direct as possible - don’t miss this wine!" (06/2012)

2008 Lewelling "Wight Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Lewelling "Wight Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The slightly more expensive, opaque purple-hued 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Wight Vineyard (aged 18 months in 100% new French oak) is essentially a barrel selection. Obviously, the more structured wines with more density and aging potential were chosen for this cuvee. Very backward compared to the Napa bottling, the Wight Vineyard exhibits more graphite and toast along with creme de cassis, smoke and floral characteristics. Deep, rich and reserved with plenty of tannin, it needs time in the bottle, so cellar it for 4-5 years and drink it over the following three decades. The Lewelling vineyard is situated on Lewelling Lane, which is south of St. Helena. It is an alluvial gravel bed at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. Proprietor and winemaker Dave Wight consistently produces some of the great values of Napa Valley. Over-delivering and producing world-class,

While it started out downright earthy and umami, it gained more and more fruit as it sat in the glass, has a beautiful mid-palate and a finish that won’t quit. The wine has an opaque bluish/purple color, almost indigo, and is full-bodied with dense chocolaty crème de cassis notes, licorice and a touch of minerality. The wine has well-integrated wood, is full and seems balanced and rich enough to age for two decades or more. 2004 Philip Togni Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Philip Togni Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95VN, 94JG, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, comes from steep mountain vineyards at the top of the Napa side of Spring Mountain. Aromas of black olives, tapenade, creme de cassis, licorice and truffles emerge from this opaque ruby/purple-colored, youthful 2004. Togni’s spiritual reference point is Bordeaux more than Napa Valley, and his wines seem to represent a hypothetical melange of those two distinctive schools of wine. Still backward, but rich, full-bodied and promising, this brilliant 2004 is 5-7 years away from its adolescence; it should age for 30-40 years. (RP) 95+" (04/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a slightly more brooding and formidably endowed effort displaying more extract, tannin and structure. In spite of its massive size, concentration and extract, it possesses gorgeously sweet tannins as well as a sense of equilibrium. (RP)" (12/2010)

Bid on this magnum of 2012 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (1.5L) (OWC - 95ST, 94RP, 94VN, 91BH) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed cherry-cola, dark berry liqueur, incense and mineral aromas show superb clarity and depth, with a sexy floral quality building with air. Offers palate-staining black raspberry and spicecake flavors that become sweeter and deeper with air. This rich but strikingly lithe and tensile pinot deftly plays power and depth off of vivacity and finishes sweet, youthfully tannic and extremely long. One of the most impressive Pinots I've tasted from the New World, or Burgundy for that matter, in quite a while. (ST)" (05/2014)

Of the 2010 Alban "Pandora" Edna Valley Rhone Blend,Vinous writes: "Exotic, super-ripe and beguiling, the 2010 Grenache Pandora is utterly compelling. I don't think I have ever tasted a Grenache with this level of aromatic complexity and pure nuance. The Pandora is incredibly ripe, voluptuous and racy. Cherries in liqueur, exotic spices, wild flowers of all sorts, chocolate and leather are some of the many notes that flow through to the finish. John Alban's Pandora is a true American original. 2004 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Aubert "Ritchie Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (96RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a vineyard that seems to do well no matter who is making the wine, the 2004 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard is tropical fruit-dominated with classic California notes of creme brulee, roasted pineapples, hazelnuts, brioche, and plenty of spice. It’s a stunningly full-bodied, exotic, in-your-face offering with terrific underlying acidity. This savory, fresh, vibrant, well-delineated white should last for 7-8 years. This Chardonnay tends to be aged in 100% new oak (which is totally concealed) and is bottled without fining or filtration. Consequently, if it has just been shipped or moved, it can reveal a slight haze. (RP)" (12/2006)

Of the 2013 Paul Lato "Seabiscuit - Zotovich Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the standouts in this stacked lineup was the 2013 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard. Aged 16 months in 70% new French oak and the greatest Pinot Noir I've tasted from this vineyard, it offers incredible notes of cassis, raspberries, dried earth, spice and that classic saltiness that's so common from the Sta. Rita Hills. Full-bodied, layered, multi-dimensional and elegant, with perfectly integrated acidity and polished tannin, it's a fabulous Pinot Noir that will have more than a decade of longevity. Dark, sensual and beautifully layered in the glass, the 1985 is one of the more voluptuous Dunn Cabernets of this era. Graphite, smoke, licorice and graphite add nuance, while silky tannins add to an overall impression of finesse. This is another dazzling wine from Randy Dunn. 2004 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Kapcsandy "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 2004 was a tiny crop for them, largely harvested August 30 to mid-September, because of the extraordinary heat wave (104 to 109 degrees between September 5-8). The final blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot was a rarity given the fact that production from the vineyard was subdivided into other cuvees starting in 2005. The 2004 performed spectacularly and the good news is that 1,200-1,300 cases were produced. Showing better than it did in its infancy, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has an inky purple color as well as notes of lead pencil shavings and scorched earth that resemble a great Graves, blackberry and creme de cassis fruit, licorice and subtle smoky barbecue. It also reveals a full-bodied texture, stunning concentration and beautiful richness. This is the only time the Kapcsandys made this particul

2008 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (750ml)
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2008 Launois "Spécial Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (750ml). Without a doubt, this is one of the best Champagnes we carry at any price. Made from two plots of 65-year-old vines, one in the grand cru of Oger called 'Chenys' and one in Mesnil called 'Derriere Maison,' this is among the ultimate expressions of Chardonnay that we have to offer. The wine shows the paradox of 2008 perfectly with great ripeness and scintillating acidity. Add in the richness and complexity from old massal-selected, grand cru, mid-slope sites and you have a must-buy for any Champagne lover! Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Cayuse "The Lovers" Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah (95RP, 92VN, 92WE, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 176-case 2014 The Lovers checks in as 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah that was brought up all in 40% new barrels. The Cabernet shows beautifully here with its blackcurrants, graphite and dried herbs, with some meaty, smoky notes (no doubt from the Syrah) coming through on the background. A big, rich, impressively concentrated red, with building tannin and a great mid-palate, it's beautiful today but will be even better in 2-3 years and I suspect will have two decades of longevity. I think the 2014 vintage from Christophe Baron will go down as one of the truly great vintages of the estate. The wines are notably deeper, richer and more concentrated than both the 2013s and 2015s, yet they have fabulous purity and elegance. (JD) 95+" (06/2017)

1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 94W&S, 93VN, 91JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 1998 Mouton Rothschild is deep garnet-brick in color with lovely crème de cassis, dried roses, hoisin and baking spice notes with underlying notions of dried cherries and mulberries plus touches of wood smoke, incense and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied and packed with rich fruit framed by firm, chewy tannins, it is stacked with complex, evolving flavors and finishes with incredibly long-lasting perfumed notes. According to winemaker Philippe Dhalluin, this needs about three hours of decanting at this stage. I simply love the place this wine is in right now, possessing plenty of mature, tertiary characters yet still sporting bags of fruit. It won’t be fading anytime soon either and should cellar nicely for 20-25+ more years. (LPB)" (05/2018)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 93RP, 92ST). Vinous: "Do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, Ridge's 2000 Monte Bello is still not ready to drink. Huge, rich and voluptuous, but backed up be serious structure, the 2000 is still a very, very young wine. Readers who own the 2000 should be thrilled. With time in the glass, the 2000 starts to open up a little bit aromatically, but the tannins remain imposing. Hints of tobacco, iron, smoke, savory herbs, leather and licorice all add nuance on the close. This dramatic, brooding Monte Bello will likely drink well for another three decades. In 2000, Montebello is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. (AG)" (07/2013)

2016 Sine Qua Non "Deux Grenouilles'' White Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Sine Qua Non "Deux Grenouilles'' White Blend (94RP, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Deux Grenouilles White bursts with expressive aromas of apricot preserve, yellow plums, dried flowers, orange rind and Acacia honey. It's a deftly judged blend of 36% Roussanne, 29% Chardonnay, 23% Viognier, 9% Petite Manseng and 3% Muscat, and the exotic aromatic contributions of the Viognier and Muscat don't drown out the subtle expressions of the other varieties. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, fat and lavish, with considerable satiny texture, juicy acids and a sapid, even savory finish that I suspect reflects the Petite Manseng component. It's a rich and dramatic white that should drink well on release and could well be very interesting with time in the bottle. The Deux Grenouilles was produced entirely from estate fruit with the exception of Chardonnay from Bien Nacido Vineyard, and it was vinified in 26% concrete eggs, 26% used barrels and 4

2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 97WS, 96RP, 96ST). Vinous: "Once again, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the 2007, but the aromas and flavors seems to be just a touch brighter, which might just be a function of the wine's age. A wine of remarkable precision, the 2009 is totally dialed in from start to finish. Layers of intensely sweet, perfumed fruit are woven together with remarkable elegance and sheer polish. Today, the 2009 isn't quite as radiant as it has been in the past, and seems headed for a stubborn phase. It is still striking, though. Even if a bit less exotic than the 2007, the two wines share a silkiness and overall sense of textural finesse. A translucent, weightless finish rounds things out in style. The 2009 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. (AG)" (12/2012)

Described as disappointing by Jean-Louis over the past 5 years or so, it appears to be opening up and possesses fabulous, liquid rock-like qualities to go with cassis, blackberry and wild herbs. I have tasted the wine for three consecutive years, and each time it satisfied all of my requirements for perfection. The opaque purple color is followed by spectacular aromatics that soar from the glass, offering up celestial levels of black currants, minerals, smoked herbs, cedar wood, coffee, and pain grille. In the mouth, this seamless legend reveals full body, and exquisite layers of phenomenally pure and rich fruit, followed by a 40+ second finish. While accessible, the 1994 begs for another 5-7 years of cellaring. It should easily last for 30+ years. Almost austere but not exactly hard, even if it's rather inexpressive today. But this wine from 80-year-old vines has the material and balance to make an outstanding bottle.
