1997 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (94RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I underestimated this wine from barrel, but now that the great old man of the village of Barolo, Bartolo Mascarello, has gotten it in bottle, it is an impressive, old style, heavyweight effort that will age for three decades. A dark plum/garnet color is accompanied by a striking bouquet of cinnamon, balsam wood, roses, tar, minerals, and cherry liqueur. There is good acidity, a broad, full-bodied, super-concentrated palate, and tell-tale truffle, leather, and dried herb notes. Powerful and long, this well-delineated, gorgeously pure, structured Barolo is a classic from the old school of Piedmontese winemaking. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030. (RP)" (06/2001)

2006 Aldo Conterno "Romirasco" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Aldo Conterno "Romirasco" Barolo (97WS, 95ST, 92RP, 92VN). Wine Spectator: "Rich and round, this lush style is both supple and intense, displaying a strong mineral and iron edge to its plum and black cherry flavors. A cascade of sweet spice and fruit takes it out as the structure and fruit intertwine. Best from 2013 through 2035. (BS)" (03/2011)

1998 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (93JG, 93ST, 92VN). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Healthy medium red with a pale rim. Powerful redcurrant, camphor and mint aromas, with some dried flower high tones. Very ripe and rich but uncompromisingly dry and youthfully aggressive, with strong acidity and powerful structure. Hiding its density today. Finishes bright and firmly tannic, with captivating licorice and raspberry notes. This already displays a broad range of Barolo perfumes. (ST) 93+" (11/2002)

2008 Roberto Voerzio "Cerequio" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Roberto Voerzio "Cerequio" Barolo (97RP, 97VN, 93JS, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Cerequio comes across as dark, powerful and rich. Black cherries, leather, spices, licorice and tar are some of the nuances that take shape in this intense Cerequio. Here, too, the flavors are dark and brooding. With time in the glass, the Cerequio turns suave, polished and elegant, all qualities that are typical of this site, but the 2008 never fully drops its sheer muscle. The 2008 remains big, powerful and structured. A finessed finish covers every inch of the palate with small bursts of energetic dark red fruit. This is another drop-dead gorgeous wine from Roberto and Davide Voerzio. Little of the early appeal and sensuality that is typical of Cerequio is to be found in the 2008, so readers will have to be patient. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. (AG)" (04/2012)

1989 Paolo Scavino "Cannubi" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Paolo Scavino "Cannubi" Barolo (96RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scavino's three 1989 Barolos are spectacular. The 1989 Barolo Cannubi is a legend in the making. Its spectacular nose of sweet black fruits, licorice, grilled meats, and smoky new oak is followed by a wine with immense richness, stunning opulence, a multidimensional personality, and a spectacularly long, well-delineated finish. Approachable now, it promises to drink well and even improve for another 15-20 years. These are the finest Barolos I have tasted from Scavino. (RP)" (04/1994)

2003 Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (93RP, 91ST, 90JG, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Barolo Monprivato is made in an atypically big, powerful style loaded with ripe fruit supported by plenty of structure. It boasts an enticing palate presence and a uniquely intense personality. The classic Monprivato notes of ripe cherries, roses, minerals, flowers and herbs are present... In 2003 Mascarello was more severe than normal in his green harvesting of the vineyard as he wanted to lighten the load on his plants to reduce their stress. He was also helped considerably by the compact, moisture-retentive soils. Readers who prefer more classically-styled versions of Monprivato may want to revisit the 1999 and 2001 although Mascarello told me he prefers the 2003 to the 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2023. 1973 Gaja Barbaresco
Bid on this bottle of 1973 Gaja Barbaresco. Begun with a mere two hectares of vines nearly 160 years ago, Gaja is now a titan of the wine world. While Angelo Gaja is widely credited (rightly so) with moving the estate down the path on which it has now garnered its heaps of accolades, it was his father Giovanni who instilled in him the entrepreneurial spirit that led to many of the estate's most successful marketing and production innovations, including featuring the family name in bold lettering on the labels, promoting single-vineyard bottlings, and planting non-Piemontese varietals. This 1973 bottling is a time-capsule, a window back to when a legend was simply a legend in the making and bold risks were the name of the game. It's now fully mature, and ready for collectors and lovers of wine history, alike.

2006 Roberto Voerzio "Cerequio" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Roberto Voerzio "Cerequio" Barolo (97RP, 92JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Cerequio opens with an utterly beguiling, captivating bouquet that leads to ripe red fruit, flowers, minerals and spices, all framed by sweet, silky tannins. Aromatics, textural elegance and freshness come together in this energetic, vivid Barolo. The finish is exceptionally long, pure and fresh, which suggests the wine will age gracefully for many years. The 2006 Barolo Cerequio is emerging as one of the finest wines in this important vintage. Simply put, it is awesome! Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. (AG)" (03/2010)
