1995 Pio Cesare "Ornato" Barolo (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1995 Pio Cesare "Ornato" Barolo (OWC - 90WS) in original wood. Wine Spectator: "The tannins are well integrated but still showing a certain toughness normal for '95. Medium-bodied, it's more elegant than concentrated, with a slight chocolate character. Also shows blackberry, wet earth and smoky tobacco-leaf notes. Tempting now, but better to cellar. Best after 2002." (11/1999)

2006 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo (92RP, 92WS, 91ST, 91W&S, 90JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Castiglione is frighteningly outstanding, considering it is Vietti’s entry-level Barolo! There is incredible density and power in the glass as waves of fruit caress the palate with tons of richness. Sweet menthol, flowers and spices add complexity to the long, stupendous finish. In 2006 the Barolo Castiglione is a blend of fruit from Bricco Fiasco (except for the lower part of that plot), Ravera, Fossati and Bricco Ravera. All of the estate’s Barolo-designated vineyards that weren’t bottled separately were used for that vintage’s Perbacco, a selection process I wrote about extensively in my recent profile on Vietti on www.erobertparker.com. The Barolo Castiglione is usually approachable pretty much upon release, but in 2006 the wine has so much fatness it will probably benefit from a few years in bottle. Barolo is never inexpensive, but the Casti

2010 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo (94RP, 94VN, 93W&S, 92JS, 92WS, 91ST). Vinous: "The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is beautiful in the way it brings together the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are all woven together nicely in the glass. With time in the glass, the wine blossoms with exquisite finesse, floral aromatics and exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the exquisite finish. An insanely beautiful wine, the 2010 will give readers a good idea of just how great the 2010 vintage is at Vietti. The Barolo Castiglione is made from a large number of parcels across the Barolo zone, many of which are of a high enough level of quality that they could be bottled separately. This is first-class juice. (AG)" (01/2014)

1997 Gaja Barbaresco
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1997 Gaja Barbaresco (95WS, 94RP, 91ST). Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby red. Lots of blackberry and cherry aromas. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a superfresh palate. It is still mouthpuckering, with layers of ripe and powerful tannins. This needs time. (JS, Web Only-2007)"

2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo (96VN, 94JS, 93RP, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Vinous: "Dark cherries, plums, cloves, violets, incense, orange rind and tobacco meld together in the 2009 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste. A massive, powerful Barolo, the 2009 boasts stunning depth, power and richness, all in a relatively open style for this estate. I imagine the 2009 will drink well relatively early for top-flight Barolo, but it has fabulous class and intensity. (AG)" (10/2013)

2007 Rinaldi "Annata Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Rinaldi "Annata Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo (96RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste is a regal, aristocratic Barolo. Firm tannins keep some of the extroverted qualities of the vintage in check. This shows marvelous inner minerality and coolness, with deep layers of fruit, menthol, licorice and tar that fill out the wine’s broad shouldered frame. The Brunte-Le Coste shuts down pretty quickly in the glass, suggesting it may be headed for a period of dormancy. Today, it is flat-out stunning. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2038. (AG)" (10/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 & 2011 Barolo Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2004 Paolo Scavino "Bric del Fiasc" Barolo (96RP, 95VN, 95WS, 94ST) and 1-bottle of 2011 Elio Grasso "Ginestra - Casa Matè" Barolo (95JS, 94RP, 94VN, 94WE, 92WS). Of the 2004 Paolo Scavino "Bric del Fiasc" Barolo,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The estate's 2004 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is another awesome wine. Initially linear on entry, it explodes on the palate with a compelling array of dark fruit, smoke, tar, licorice, new leather, plums and baking spices. Although Bric del Fiasc is typically a wine that relies on power, the 2004 is notably refined and elegant, with sweet silky tannins that support the fruit from start to finish. Simply put, this is a remarkable wine from Enrico Scavino. (AG)" (12/2007)
