Bid on this bottle of 1981 Dr. H Thanisch Bernkasteler Doctor Riesling Spätlese Mosel. Collectors and aficionados of German Riesling take note of this wine from one of the great vintages of the past half-century and arguably the greatest vineyard site in Germany (at very least, its most expensive site). Doctor derives its name from a 14th century, apocryphal legend surrounding a deathly ill archbishop of Trier who was miraculously cured after imbibing wine from the vineyard. The site sits on an elbow-shaped bend in the Mosel river at a 65% slope, making it one of the steepest in the world. The south-southwest aspect means it takes full advantage of all of the geographic characteristics that define the most desirable landscape on the Mosel and create its benchmark, reference point wines. This is a collector's gem Riesling par excellence.

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Martin Müllen Kröver Kirchlay Riesling Spätlese** Mosel (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Krover Kirchlay Riesling Spatlese ** comes from a top south-facing vineyard in the Kirchlay that was formerly called Nostel that brings the same must weights as the Letterlay, but the leaner wines. The soil in the center of the site is imported from the Wolfer Goldgrub where slate fine soil was taken away for a new street. A hundred trucks brought it to the Kirchlay and there was no TROCKENSTRESS anymore. The wine is nicely juicy and piquant, very elegant, lean and mineral, but very long and piquant in the lime-scented finish. Very precise. Lovely to drink in 10 or 20 years. (SR)" (02/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The demure nose of the 2001 Riesling Spatlese Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr offers delicate floral, mineral, and sweet citrus scents. On the palate, it bursts forth with candied lemons, awesome clarity of flavors, and a noble minerality. Light to medium-bodied and satin-textured, this is a penetrating wine with extraordinary detail and elegance. Additionally, its ethereal core of fruit lingers for over a minute in its focused, highly expressive finish. (PR)" (12/2002)
