Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1991 Dominus "Napanook Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94JG, 94VN). Vinous: "Healthy deep medium red. Musky plum, cherry jam, spices and chocolate on the nose, complicated by hints of leather, mocha and truffle. Utterly refined, sophisticated wine with the complex soil-driven animal and vegetable notes of a great mature Bordeaux. Distinctly wild but also wonderfully silky and seamless, this midweight wine is a clear standout from the early years of this winery. Evolving very slowly but à point right now. Finishes very subtle and long, with a firm dusting of tannins and surprising structure and grip. Classically dry, showing lovely life in the mouth and lift on the back end, but this is about as far from primary Napa Valley fruit as a Napa wine can be. (ST)" (07/2018)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 d'Yquem, Sauternes. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Served from an ex-chateau bottle. The 1991 Chateau d’Yquem was actually not affected by the frosts like everywhere else in Bordeaux, damaging 30% of the vines, predicating a two-track ripening cycle. This was not too much of a problem to overcome since bunches are picked one by one. Picking commenced on September 19, with half the crop being picked over five days between October 21 and 25 after a spell of intermittent showers. It has a lighter color than the 1995. The nose displays moderate intensity with light waxy scents that would benefit from more vigor. The palate is well-balanced... Although this is a commendable Sauternes, there is a bitterness and a slight rawness that cannot be ignored. Still, it deserves a light applause considering the growing season. (NM)" (06/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97ST, 97VN, 96RP, 95JS, 93WS). Vinous: "The 1991 Monte Bello is utterly captivating. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and herbs are some of the many notes the open up in the wine's striking bouquet. Aromatic, mid-weight and gracious, the 1991 is wonderfully complex, with more than enough balance to drink well for another two decades. The aromatics in particular are super-expressive, open-knit and incredibly finessed, all qualities Paul Draper says the wine showed right out of the fermentation tanks. What a gorgeous wine this is. Bid on this bottle of 1991 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (97VN, 95BH, 95JG, 94RP). Vinous: "One of the real highlights in this tasting, the 1991 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze opens with the most striking, exquisite aromatics imaginable. All of those nuances follow through to the palate, where the wine is silky, deeply expressive and captivating. Now mature, the 1991 has enough pedigree to drink well for the next two decades, perhaps longer. Mint, dried flowers, sage, cherry and hard candies are some of the many notes that are laced into the haunting, deeply evocative finish. This is just about as good as it gets. (AG)" (06/2016)
