Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 97VN, 97WE, 95W&S, 95WS). Vinous: "The 2001 Monte Bello is a total turn-on. Racy and hedonistic, especially by Ridge standards, the 2001 makes a strong opening statement with its super-ripe fruit and explosive aromatics. Beams of supporting tannin lie in the background and serve to give the wine its overall shape. Hints of leather, mint and sweet tobacco add perfume throughout. Over the last few years, the 2001 has begun to develop quite a bit of more tertiary notes. It remains one of the most flamboyant (and ripest) Monte Bello ever made. (AG)" (06/2017)

Bid on this bottle of 1974 Mount Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94JG). John Gilman: "The 1974 Cabernet from Merry Edwards’ first vintage at the helm at Mount Eden is drinking beautifully out of magnum today, and though it is a bit more powerful in personality than the 1973, it is still a superb example of the vintage. The bouquet is deep, complex and now wide open, offering up scents of cassis, pomegranate, a touch of mint, cigar ash, chipotle peppers, dark soil tones, a touch of spice (vaguely reminiscent of nutmeg) and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with a rock solid core of fruit, fine focus and grip, tangy acids and a long, complex, still gently tannic finish. This is a beautiful wine with decades and decades of life still ahead of it (particularly in magnum)." (09/2017)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Neely "Holly's Cuvée-Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (97VN, 94RP). Vinous: "The 2013 Chardonnay Holly's Cuvée presents an exotic mélange of tropical-infused fruit, smoke, butter, pastry and orange blossom, all in a rich, creamy style that offers considerable near and medium-term appeal. The oily, viscous finish alone is striking. Once again I am deeply impressed with the Holly's Cuvée, an absolutely stunning wine that appears to have little in common with the three Varner Chardonnays from which it is composed. Don't ask me why that is; I don't really know the answer. In 2013, the blend is 64% Bee Block, 29% Amphitheater Block and 7% Home Block. Bob and Jim Varner have turned out another magnificent set of wines at Varner and Neely. Vintage 2013 appears to have favored the Chardonnays - which are truly superb - over the Pinots. The Varners describe 2013 as a year with vine stress because of the drought, but add that there were no h

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2014 Varner "Bee Block-Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (95RP, 95VN). Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay Bee Block is the standout in this lineup of Chardonnays from Bob and Jim Varner. Wonderfully complete and layered, the 2014 is all about balance, harmony and proportion. Everything is in the right place. The combination of phenolic intensity and creaminess is deftly balanced in a Chardonnay endowed with both tension and enough mid-palate intensity to give the wine its sense of openness. Bid on this bottle of 2000 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 93DC, 93RP, 92ST). Vinous: "Do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, Ridge's 2000 Monte Bello is still not ready to drink. Huge, rich and voluptuous, but backed up by serious structure, the 2000 is still a very, very young wine. Readers who own the 2000 should be thrilled. With time in the glass, the 2000 starts to open up a little bit aromatically, but the tannins remain imposing. Hints of tobacco, iron, smoke, savory herbs, leather and licorice all add nuance on the close. This dramatic, brooding Monte Bello will likely drink well for another three decades. In 2000, Montebello is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. (AG)" (07/2013)

Bid on this bottle of 2003 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92VN, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the smallest crops to be included in the Ridge Monte Bello, only 32% of the production made it into the 2003, which is largely Cabernet Sauvignon (85%) and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot. Out of barrel as well as post-bottling I liked this wine a lot, and it has changed very little from when I last tasted it in February, 2010. It boasts an inky/blue/purple color along with sweet black currant, blueberry, graphite, licorice and toasty vanillin aromas. The tannins are still noticeable in this full-bodied 2003, but seem reasonably well-integrated. Forget this wine for another decade and drink it over the following 30+ years. (RP) 94+" (06/2013)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (100DC, 100JS, 100RP, 98VN, 95WS, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Monte Bello is a very special vintage for this great wine. Amazingly, it has yet to shut down, unfurling in the glass to reveal a bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, rich espresso roast, cigar wrapper, subtle black truffle and burning embers that has already integrated its 100% new oak remarkably completely. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful and multidimensional, with a lavishly textural attack that segues into a stunningly layered, richly structured mid-palate endowed with incredible depth and concentration underpinned by succulent acids. The finish is long, vibrant and beautifully delineated. The 2013 is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot, and it attained 13.6% natural alcohol. Analytically, this ranks as one of the most tannic vintages

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (97JS, 95JG, 95RP, 94ST, 94VN, 94W&S). James Suckling: "Blueberries, currants and flowers. The nose just pops out. Intense. Full body, with a round and velvety tannin structure and lots of currants, ripe strawberries. Very intense every. Black pepper at the finish. Muscular yet toned. Very structured yet balanced. This needs a minimum of four to five years of aging. Paul Draper says that perhaps this is as great as the legendary 1991. Made for aging." (05/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (100JS, 98JD, 98VN, 95DC, 95RP, 94CG, 94W&S). James Suckling: "Stunning depth, power, purity and elegance. The blackcurrants and plums are fresh and intense on the nose with blueberries and gently herbal notes, too. The palate has a keenly articulated array of vibrant tannins that hold long, fresh and pure. It invokes a sense of wonderment at the finish. So long and so pure. This blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, is just at the start of a wonderful journey." (11/2018)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (98JS, 97JD, 97RP, 96DC, 96VN, 94WS). James Suckling: "Unique aromas of blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate and walnut. Full body, very powerful and tannic. Incredible depth and power. Precise and so focused. Muscular. Great structure. This needs at least six to eight years to come together. *Top 100 of 2017*" (01/2018)

Bid on this bottle of 1992 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 94DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was a magical showing for the 1992 Monte Bello—and the best bottle I've ever encountered. At age 26, the wine is still stunningly vibrant and youthful, bursting from the glass with a classic bouquet of cassis, blackberries, black truffles, gravelly soil and pencil shavings. On the palate, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and utterly complete, with superb concentration and energy, its richly layered mid-palate framed by fine-grained, satiny tannins, concluding with a long, sapid finish. Above all, it stands out for its seamless balance and delineation. While for many years the more flashy and dramatic 1991 stole the limelight, as the dust settles, the deeper, more complex 1992 has emerged as the greater wine and one of Ridge's true classics. Bid on this bottle of 1988 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (90VN). Vinous: "The 1988 Monte Bello is a pretty wine that has aged well, but that is also now fully mature. Smoke, leather, licorice, game and herbs are laced with savory inflections from the mostly cold year and a good deal of Cabernet Sauvignon character. (AG)" (10/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012-2013 California Pinot Noir Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2012 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95ST, 94RP, 94VN, 91BH, 90JG) and 1-bottle of 2013 Sea Smoke "Botella" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. Of the 2012 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed cherry-cola, dark berry liqueur, incense and mineral aromas show superb clarity and depth, with a sexy floral quality building with air. Offers palate-staining black raspberry and spicecake flavors that become sweeter and deeper with air. This rich but strikingly lithe and tensile pinot deftly plays power and depth off of vivacity and finishes sweet, youthfully tannic and extremely long. One of the most impressive Pinots I've tasted from the New World, or Burgundy for that matter, in quite a while. (ST)" (05/2014)
