2014 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (OWC - 99RP, (59-95WE), 94VN, 94WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Reminding me of a hypothetical mix of blood and herbs (blood sausage?), with notes of earth, mushrooms, rose petal and strawberries, the 2014 Grenache Sur Echalas Vineyard is full-bodied, exotic and seamless, with building tannin and a gorgeous saltiness on the finish. Like these latest 2014s, it opens up with time in the glass, has a layered, elegant and incredibly long finish, and perfectly polished tannin. It's not Rayas, it's not Chateauneuf du Pape, it's an incredible, singular wine that stands on its own. (JD)" (06/2017)

2014 Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Cayuse "God Only Knows" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (97RP, 94WS, 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 533 cases of the 2014 Grenache God Only Knows Armada Vineyard, and as always, it's an unknown blend that's dominated by Grenache (reportedly from vine cuttings from Rayas). It's fermented with just about 100% whole clusters in concrete and aged mostly in neutral puncheons and foudre, with one concrete egg. A bigger, richer wine than the No Girls cuvee, this beauty packs a punch in its black cherry, reduced strawberry, herbes de Provence and crushed violet aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant style and fine tannin, this singular beauty will benefit from a year or three of cellaring and keep for 10-15 years. Drink through 2032. (JD)" (06/2017)

2015 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Horsepower "Sur Echalas Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Grenache (OWC - 98RP, 97WE, 94JD, 93JS, 93VN, 93WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Grenache Sur Echalas Vineyard is stunning, wafting from the glass with a captivating bouquet that features floral top notes of roses and peony, savory nuances of rich coniferous forest floor and bouillon, overlaying a sapid base of ripe cherry and strawberry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, immensely intense and mouthwateringly savory, with incredible complexity and stony depth. The finish is long and saline. Though Baron's Cayuse Grenache is great this year, this wine is another step up. (WK)" (06/2018)

2013 Sine Qua Non "Female" California Grenache
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Female" California Grenache (98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Manfred's 2013 Grenache Female checks in as a blend of 78% Grenache, 19% Syrah and 3% Mourvèdre that is mostly from his Eleven Confessions estate vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, yet has smaller portions from his Cumulus, The Third Twin and Bien Nacido vineyards. Seeing just over 24 months in a mix of demi-muids, 300-liter Hog Heads and barrique, it has a sensational bouquet of spring flowers, black raspberries, black cherries, violets, licorice and camphor. Reminding me of a great vintage of Raymond Usseglio's Cuvée Imperiale, this full-bodied, elegant Grenache is impeccably balanced, has a full and layered mid-palate (which is missing from just about every other Grenache made in California), and sweet tannin on the finish. It's almost impervious to air and didn't budge an inch over the three days I followed this bottle. It will cruise for over two decades. (JD)" (05/20

2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache (97RP, (95-97VN)). Vinous: "The 2012 Grenache Stein is incredibly refined, silky and pure, with bright red and blue-hued fruits. Today, the flavors are primary, so readers will have to be patient get the full breadth of aromas, flavors and textures. The Stein is a decidedly feminine, gracious Grenache that impresses for its textural beauty and nuance. I imagine it will provide a long and broad drinking window of pure pleasure over the next 15-20 years. This is an absolutely gorgeous wine from Sine Qua Non. The final blend is 76% Grenache, 16% Syrah and 8% Mourvèdre; 53% from Eleven Confessions, 29% from Cumulus, 9% The Third Twin and 9% Bien Nacido. The 2012 was done with 29% whole clusters and will spend around 22 months in French oak (14%) prior to its scheduled bottling this summer. (AG)" (08/2015)

2013 Sine Qua Non "...and an Eight Track" Central Coast Rosé
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "...and an Eight Track" Central Coast Rosé. SQN's rosé style is darker and more full-bodied than a typical rosé, and it also carries a longer drinking window. Praise from Wine Advocate: "There are few greater success stories in wine than that of Sine Qua Non’s Manfred Krankl. Austrian-born and showing up penniless in Los Angeles in 1980, he went on to create one of the greatest wine estates in the world today by sheer talent and work ethic." (JD, 8/2015)
