Bid on this bottle of 2006 Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg Echézeaux Grand Cru (95JG, 93BH, 92ST, 91RP). John Gilman: "The Mugnerets have two roughly equal parcels in Echézeaux, located in the climats of Rouge de Bas and Quartiers de Nuits. In 2006 the parcel in the Quartiers de Nuits was hit with some hail, and the final blend will be around two-thirds from the Rouge de Bas section. This is good news for the ultimate quality of the wine, as the Rouge de Bas is the parcel with the older vines, and these particular vines are a selection massale plot that produces very small, intense berries. The resulting wine will be amongst the greatest Mugneret Echézeaux ever made, as the wine delivers a stellar, almost crystalline bouquet of black cherries, black raspberries, raw cocoa, blood orange, striking minerality, pungent violets, a touch of fresh nutmeg and vanillin oak. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Les Pavots (a 2,730-case blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) exhibits big notes of chocolate fudge intermixed with dark berry fruit, forest floor, underbrush, and some smoky oak. The wine is full-bodied, with remarkable intensity, low acidity, and a fleshy, opulent mouthfeel. This wine should drink well for 15-20+ years. (RP)" (12/2008)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2006 Barolo Monprivato is incredibly primary at this stage. The 2006 is an explosive Monprivato endowed with layers of ripe red fruit backed up by firm, muscular tannins that speak with great eloquence. I expect the 2006 to go through a period of stubbornness - as it often does - but it should begin to show well at around age ten or so. From time to time, the wine shows glimpses of its nobility. Bid on this magnum of 2006 Col d'Orcia "Poggio Al Vento" Brunello Di Montacino Riserva (1.5L) (96RP, 95DC, 95W&S, 95WE, 93JS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento bursts from the glass with an exciting array of sweet dark cherries, flowers, mint and licorice. All of the elements are in the right place. The 2006 combines power and finesse to a degree I have seldom experienced in the Col d'Orcia wines. Layers of fruit flow through to the huge, authoritative finish. Readers will be tempted to try the 2006 young, and so will I, to tell the truth. Although I would love to be wrong, the reality is that the 2006 isn't likely to be at its peak until age 20 or so. This is a fantastic showing from Col d'Orcia. Yields in 2006 were the lowest ever (with the exception of 1997), which explains much of the wine’s richness and sheer power. (AG) " (05/2012)

John Gilman: "The 2006 Ruchottes-Chambertin is a dazzling wine that offers up simply stunning complexity for a young wine, as it soars from the glass in a blaze of red plums, cherries, blood orange, delicate notes of grilled meats, stunning minerality, spices, violets and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full and very intensely flavored, with a brilliant core, zesty acids, great purity and a very long, focused and ripely tannic finish. A magical vintage for this wine. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Palmer, Margaux (94RP, 94WE, 93WS, 92JD, 92VN, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Palmer was wonderful out of barrel ten years ago and now in bottle, it fulfills its promise with a stunning, precise bouquet of maraschino, iodine, cassis and tobacco scents that seem a few years younger than its Margaux peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin that cloak its sweet core of cassis and blackcurrant fruit. However, what is so striking is the fineness of the tannin and just how well that oak is subsumed into the fabric of the wine. This is a long-term proposition: a great Margaux from Thomas Duroux. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs (97VN, 96JG, 96JS, 96RP, 95WE, 94BH, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it. Comtes de Champagne remains the single best value (in relative terms) in tête de cuvée Champagne. I suggest buying a case and following it over the next 20-30 years, which is exactly what I intend to do. There is little doubt the 2006 Comtes de Champagne is a magical Champagne in the making. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Mount Eden "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (94JG, 93RP, 93ST). John Gilman: "The 2006 Mount Eden Estate cabernet is a tad riper than the stunning 2007, as it weighs in a 13.9 percent alcohol, but this too is an absolutely old school bottle of wine. The nose is deep, complex and quite classic in its aromatic profile of cassis, black cherries, cigar ash, a great base of soil, fresh herb tones and a touch of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with a fine core, a fair bit of ripe tannin, tangy acids and great length and grip on the focused and perfectly balanced finish. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 G.B. Burlotto "Monvigliero" Barolo (94VN). Vinous: "The 2006 Barolo Vigneto Monvigliero is the finest wine I have ever tasted from Burlotto. Monvigliero is a site that typically yields Baroli with high-toned aromatics that can tend towards excessive herbaceousness if there isn't enough fruit to provide balance, something I have often found in this bottling. Not in 2006. This sumptuous yet delicate, classically built Barolo flows with gorgeous layers of red berries, spices, flowers and herbs, showing superb balance, plenty of depth and fabulous overall balance. To be sure, the wine's signature profile bears more than a passing resemblance to the wines of northern Piedmont, but in 2006, all of the elements are in perfect harmony. This is a fabulous effort from Burlotto, and is highly recommended, particularly for readers who appreciate a firm, classic style of Barolo. (AG)" (12/2010)
