2001 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 98RP, 94WE, 93ST, 93W&S) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant showing for Christian Moueix’s well-known Napanook Vineyard, the 2001 Dominus is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. A classic in the making, this is a flawless, seamless example of elegant, complex Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that possesses a Bordeaux-like personality. This gorgeous, sexy, opulent, dense ruby/purple-colored wine reveals sweet caramel, mocha, creme de cassis and kirsch notes intermixed with a hint of espresso roast as well as underbrush. Ripe, long and full-bodied with well-integrated tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood, this prodigious 2001 is drinkable now and over the next 25+ years given this estate’s longevity track record. A virtually perfect wine, it is one of the most complex 2001s at present. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (OWC - 96JD, 96JS, 96RP, 93WS, 92VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. (RP)" (02/2004)

2001 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2001 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (98RP, 96WE, 95VN, 95W&S, 93CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still a young wine at age 12, the 2001 Insignia exhibits a dense purple color along with a sweet bouquet of camphor, blackberries, cassis, incense and spring flowers. Full-bodied, rich and heady with sweet tannin, stunning concentration and a fabulous finish, this remarkable Insignia has 25 or more years of life ahead of it. (RP) 98+" (11/2013)

2001 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 99RP, 94VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2001 Cariad is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, primarily from two of David Abreu’s vineyard holdings in Napa Valley (Madrona Ranch and Thorevilos). Complex notes of burning embers, charcoal, red and black fruits, subtle oak, licorice and cedarwood soar from the glass of this highly perfumed, stunning wine. It has everything going for it, including a flawless, seamless style, remarkable balance, stunning concentration and a finish that lasts nearly a minute. There is an open-knit character that makes it very accessible even though the wine still gives the impression of being a teenager in its developmental time-line. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Abreu "Thorevilos" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Thorevilos is another example of what may well be Napa Valley’s version of Ausone, and one of the single greatest vineyard sites in California. One could say this is world-class, but it’s really all-universe. A tour de force in winemaking, with notes of blueberry liqueur intermixed with subtle white chocolate, espresso roast, cassis, blackberry and perfumed, floral notes, it is full-bodied, with great flavor purity, a skyscraper-like texture, and a remarkable finish, with a seamless integration of all component parts. This is extraordinary wine that everyone who loves wine should at least taste once or twice in their lifetime. Both of these wines are adolescents, and probably won’t peak for another 5-8 years and keep for 30-40. (RP)" (06/2011)

2001 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (93BH, 93RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ponsot's 2001 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is going from strength to strength, and this bottle was showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of red plums, smoked duck, cherries, spices, mustard seed and potpourri. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with chalky but melting tannins, tangy acids and a long, stony finish. Somewhat rustic in profile, it isn't the most elegant vintage of Ponsot's Clos de la Roche, but it's beginning to drink well today. (WK)" (10/2018)

2001 Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Ponsot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (90BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a slightly curious hint of lactic character that detracts slightly from the overall sense of purity though not so much as to render the almost fully mature aromas of secondary fruit and earth unpleasant. There is good verve and detail to the velvety middle weight flavors that display a lovely bead of minerality on the solidly persistent finish that evidences a subtle but perceptible touch of warmth. As the description suggests, this is a little awkward but not without its appeal. For my taste this is knocking on the door of its full apogee if not quite there yet. Note that I tried several different bottles at the tasting and all of them displayed this lactic character so I can only assume that it's the wine and not these particular examples. (Drink starting 2016)" (01/2015)

2001 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Philip Togni "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Togni’s 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon explodes onto the palate with layers of dark fruit, roasted coffee beans, autumn leaves and spices. This is an immensely satisfying wine graced with striking inner sweetness and a vibrancy that will drink well for another 15+ years. The density of the fruit at ten years of age is remarkable. The 2001 is a re-release from the estate’s library. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027. (AG)" (12/2011)

2001 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (96RP, 96WS, 95DC, 93ST, 93W&S). Wine Spectator: "Stick your nose in this and it says something: "I am special." Deep and generous aromas of blackberries, fresh tobacco and minerals. It's full-bodied, with big velvety tannins and a superlong finish. Like a fine cashmere sweater. *Collectibles - No. 7 on the Top 100 of 2004* (JS)" (03/2004)

2001 Podere Rocche dei Manzoni "Vigna d'la Roul" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Podere Rocche dei Manzoni "Vigna d'la Roul" Barolo Riserva (95RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Vigna d’la Roul is the most classic of these 2001 Barolos. It reveals phenomenal balance in its layers of dark cherries, violets, tar, new leather, sweet toasted oak and mentholated, balsamic overtones that develop in the glass. This massively structured, large-scaled Barolo reveals an unusual amount of detail for such a big wine. It will require considerable patience, but will offer much pleasure to those who can wait. Vigna d’la Roul is the oldest of the family’s holdings and was the principal component of many of the estate’s legendary wines, including the 1978 Valentino Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026. 2001 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97JD, 95RP, 94WS, 93ST). Jeb Dunnuck: "A gorgeous wine in every sense, 2001 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape - a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, and 5% Vaccarèse, Counoise, and Muscardin that’s aged for 15 months in old foudres (no new oak is used) – possesses an incredibly complex bouquet of kirsch, black tea, flowers, and licorice like aromas. It opens up beautifully in the glass, showing a seamless, elegant profile, a spectacularly good texture, perfect balance, and a long, silky finish. While this seems to have plenty of life left, I don’t see any reason to hold off as this was a pure joy to drink. " (03/2011)

2001 Bond "Melbury" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Bond "Melbury" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97ST, 96VN, 95WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Melbury (a dead ringer for Pauillac) has an opaque blue/purple color and an extraordinarily sweet nose of charcoal, lead pencil shavings, cedar wood, black currants, licorice and spice box. Full-bodied, with great intensity, purity and texture, this is a wonderfully dense, full-throttle wine that is still an adolescent and likely to stay one for at least another 5-7 years. Look for it to age gracefully well past 20-30+ years. (RP) 98+" (06/2011)

2001 Domaine Ponsot Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes"
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Domaine Ponsot Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" (94BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A spicy, perfumed and fully mature nose offers up plenty of earth and exotic tea elements where the fruit runs much more toward the red side of the spectrum. The velvety and wonderfully refined medium weight flavors exude a lovely minerality on the pure and focused finish that possesses a dusty palate impression. I very much like the persistence as the finale seems to disappear only to return several times. For my taste this is drinking perfectly well now though it should hold effortlessly for at least another decade. In a word, terrific." (01/2015)

2001 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (93ST, 91CG, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium ruby. Enticing aromas of cassis, blackberry, leather and violet. Juicy, tightly coiled and penetrating, with the sharp delineation of the best examples from Howell Mountain Densely packed but closed in on itself. A very backward but extremely promising wine that finishes with broad, dusty, fine tannins and excellent length. Wait five years on the Napa cab, but give this at least seven or eight. An impressive return to form for Dunn following the cool, late harvests of 1998 through 2000, which were particularly tough on Howell Mountain. (ST) 93+ " (01/2005)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97VN, 96RP, 96WE, 94ST, 94WS). Vinous: "Surprisingly, the 2001 Vecina comes across as quite subdued in this tasting, both for the vintage and compared to the other BOND wines. Graphite, smoke, cured meats and a host of dark-toned fruits build into the huge finish. (AG)" (11/2017)

Wine Spectator: "Although it is made from 14-year-old vines, the Griotte-Chambertin (90-94) is a ripe and sweet full-bodied Pinot Noir with silky tannins and a burst of raspberries and wild berries. 2001 Ponsot Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Ponsot Chambertin Grand Cru (93RP, 91BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was a superb showing for Ponsot's 2001 Chambertin Grand Cru, its bouquet unfolding to reveal notes of red plum, cherry, rich soil, grilled meat and a touch of herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and expansive, with a beautiful line of bright acidity, enrobed tannins and lovely length and persistence. I had wondered whether Ponsot's lavish style would be at odds with the racy character of the vintage, but in fact, the wine's vibrancy only adds to the ensemble. (WK)" (01/2018)

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96WS, 95RP, 94JD, 94ST, 93JG). Wine Spectator: "Dark and dense, this very powerful Châteauneuf oozes dark chocolate, black currant, tar, mineral, grilled beef and roasted chestnut flavors that just won't quit. Yet despite its exotic range of flavors, it has a pure, silky core of fruit that remains steadfast through the extremely long finish. An awesome young wine. Best from 2006 through 2024. *Top 100 of 2004, Highly Recommended* (JM)" (05/2004)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (100RP, 98WE, 96WS, 95CG, 95VN, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is the first of these back-to-back perfect wines from Shafer that, at age 13, is still a baby, but, wow, what an amazing wine. A fabulous growing season produced a wine with inky/purple black color, stunning crème de cassis notes, with additional hints of lead pencil shavings, spring flowers, cedar wood and forest floor. It is full-bodied, sensationally concentrated, with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol. This is a great, monumental Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that is still an infant, at age 13, going on 14. This has got at least three decades of life left in it, and probably won’t hit its peak for another 5-7 years. (RP)" (12/2014)
