Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1999 Raymond "Generations" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. With prevailing aromas of berries, earth, tobacco, currant and plum and a long, lingering finish, Generations Cabernet Sauvignon is the signature red wine of Raymond Vineyard & Cellar. Specially selected and fermented separately in vineyard specific lots, the wine receives 24 months of aging in 60-gallon oak barrels. The resulting wine is deep, intense, and complex from start to finish. Full bodied, it has the potential for long term aging if desired. Pairs beautifully with roasted and grilled beef, pork and lamb, tomato based pastas, blue cheeses, roasted garlic, herbs, and savory dishes.
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Frederic Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "La Perrière". According to Allen Meadows: "Deep ruby and this is altogether a different expression than the Feusselottes even though it too is quite pinot in style, showing only traces of classic Gevrey character. Touch of earth to go with mostly red fruits and the vibrant cassis-infused flavors. This is bigger and more intense with solid finishing tannins but does not offer the same degree of refinement and precision." (Tasted: Apr 01, 2001)
Starting Bid: $52.00

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 1999 J-L Chave Sélection "Mon Coeur" Côtes-du-Rhône. 35% Syrah and 65% Grenache. Made by the famous JL Chave. Rich, spicy, peppery wine for mid-term enjoyment. Smoke meats and dark fruits abound.
Starting Bid: $175.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1999 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (92VN). Vinous: "The 1999 Cos d’Estournel has a well-defined bouquet that takes a few swirls of the glass to get going. It is not complex or vigorous, yet nicely detailed. Melted tar and cigar humidor infuse the black fruit, becoming earthier with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. This feels quite masculine and structured, and very fresh and linear. A light fish oil note tinctures the tarry black fruit toward the finish. This exudes Saint-Estèphe character and is drinking perfectly now. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the estate. (NM)" (09/2019)
Starting Bid: $600.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94VN). Vinous: "The 1999 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is gorgeous, with a display of sweet tobacco, green stems and sage which give way to musky red and black currants. It gains in depth and complexity with time in the glass, taking on hints of dried flowers, clove and graphite. The textures are velvety; yet the feel is quite lifted, with brisk acids creating a mouthwatering feel while ushering in tart raspberry and hints of bitter herbs. The tannins are nearly resolved but not quite, as the 1999 Dunn finishes elegant and long, tapering off to savory spice and lasting mineral tones. It’s amazing how youthful and fresh this is with twenty-one years under its belt. The best part is that there are many more years of positive evolution in store. (EG)" (11/2020)
Starting Bid: $320.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 d'Arenberg "The Dead Arm" Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia (96RP, 95JD, 91JH, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This estate's most renowned offering is their old vine Shiraz (90+ year old vines) called The Dead Arm. The unfined/unfiltered 1999 The Dead Arm Shiraz (2,000 cases) was aged in 100% new oak, of which 70% was American and 30% French. It is about as natural and unmanipulated a product of the vineyard as one can find. Full-bodied and awesomely rich, notes of black pepper, licorice, and blackberry as well as cherry liqueur cascade over the palate with enormous concentration and intensity, high tannin, and a structured, muscular style. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring, and consume it over the following 2-3 decades. It is a timeless museum piece made in a style that can only be produced in Barossa or McLaren Vale. (RP)" (10/2002)
Starting Bid: $147.00

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95JG, 94WE, 92WS, 91VN). John Gilman: "1999 was only the fourth vintage “back” for Martha’s Vineyard, after its replanting in the late 1980s, but the wine is absolutely spectacular. The alcohol here is a tad lower than the 14.5 percent of the 2005 and 2002 Martha’s, as it weigh in at 14.2 percent. The bouquet is absolutely a classic expression of this inimitable terroir, as it soars from the glass in a blaze of red and black cherries, eucalyptus, raw cocoa, Rutherford Dust, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and suave on the attack, with a great core of fruit, a touch of mid-palate tariness, ripe tannins, superb focus and great grip on the very, very long, refined and intense finish. A great young vintage of Martha’s Vineyard." (05/2011)
Starting Bid: $145.00

Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 1999 Domaine Gourt de Mautens (Jérôme Bressy) Rasteau. Jeb Dunnuck says: "Covering 13 hectare of old vines (45-90-years old) in Rasteau, this estate was taken over by Jerome Bressy in 1998. The farming is all organic, yields are miniscule and he producers a single red and white cuvee. Today, he's making some of the greatest wines in the Southern Rhone. Unfortunately, there's just not much to go around, but if readers want to taste the essence of these sun baked, south-facing slopes in Rasteau, don't miss a chance to grab some of these." (Wine Advocate, 1/2015)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 1999 Pol Roger "Extra Cuvée de Réserve" Brut Champagne (1.5L).
Starting Bid: $420.00

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Ausone, St-Emilion (95RP, 94VN, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Is the 1999 Ausone the wine of the vintage? Dense purple color, a compelling bouquet of licorice, minerals, black and blueberry liqueur, extraordinary delineation, high tannin, superb extract, and phenomenal richness all are the stuff of a legend. This wine seems impossible to have emerged from a vintage like 1999. Proprietor Alain Vauthier produced only 20,000 bottles because he eliminated one-fourth of the tiny crop. The result is out-and-out fabulous, but the wine needs 12-15 years of cellaring. (RP)" (04/2002)
Starting Bid: $350.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1999 Casafrassi "XXI Secolo" Chianti Classico (95ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark garnet. Incredibly complex nose features nutmeg, cinnamon, glove leather and tobacco. Intense, compellingly sweet inner-mouth sensations of ripe plum fruit, bittersweet chocolate and briary berries. A persistent minerality bolsters the wine's grip, and the big tannins are velvety. Spicy oak weaves in and out of the lingering finish. This explosive unfiltered wine from old vines could easily pass for a top-notch Brunello. (EB)" (01/2002)
Starting Bid: $175.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (95RP, 94DC, 94WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Lafite Rothschild sports an engraved '1999' on the bottle along with an eclipse to mark that significant historical event of August, 1999. It is a quintessential offering from Lafite Rothschild. This prodigious wine is both elegant and intensely flavored, and almost diaphanous in its layers that unfold with no heaviness. An opaque ruby/purple color is accompanied by a complex bouquet of lead pencil, graphite, cedar, creme de cassis, toast, and vanilla. It is medium-bodied, with extravagant layers of richness yet little weight, and a finish that is all sweetness, ripeness, and harmony. This extraordinary Lafite increasingly appears to be a modern day clone of the majestic 1953. A mere one-third of the crop made it into the grand vin! (RP)" (04/2002)
Starting Bid: $1,930.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95WS, 91VN, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "Dark, rich and intense, a vibrant, deeply concentrated and firmly tannic style. Young and tight, this wine packs in lots of rich, chocolaty plum, black currant, cherry, anise and sage and herbal flavors. Really revs up the flavors on the finish, with unfolding layers of complexity and depth. *Cellar Selection* (JL)" (08/2002)
Starting Bid: $385.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, (92-95ST), 94WS, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (an 8,600-case cuvee made from yields of 1.98 tons of fruit per acre) is considered by Bo Barrett to be a 'great' year. The wine boasts a saturated inky/purple color as well as extraordinary density of fruit and cassis, and huge tannin, body, and extract. It is a substantial, palate-staining, long, muscular Cabernet that should only be purchased by connoisseurs with cold cellars as well as patience. The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon remains one of California's most remarkable Cabernets. I have been following it since the early seventies, and even the most difficult vintages are still drinking beautifully. The home vineyard is so consistent that even in vintages such as 1989 and 1998, this wine is far better than its competition. (RP)" (08/2002)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Pavie, St-Emilion (93JS, 92RP, 92ST, 92VN). James Suckling: "An earthy red with dried meat and ripe fruit. Full body and smoky character with mushroom and smoked-tea undertones. Chewy finish still." (05/2018)
Starting Bid: $330.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1999 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((87-90ST)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep fresh ruby-red. Brooding aromas of currant syrup, licorice, naphtha and tobacco leaf. Fairly intense flavors similar to the aromas. Still quite youthfully tight, but offers solid concentration and very good length. Just a hint of greenness on the end; the firm tannins reach the teeth. (ST)" (06/2002)
Starting Bid: $360.00

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (97RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon (84% of the fruit from Sonoma and 16% from Napa), the 1999 is soft enough to be considered fully mature. Sweet aromas of espresso roast, plum sauce, black currants and forest floor are followed by a delicious, chewy, complex wine that should drink well for another 12-14 years. (RP)" (06/2011)
