1998 Pasquero "Sori Paitin" Barbaresco (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1998 Pasquero "Sori Paitin" Barbaresco (1.5L) (93ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Sappy, vibrant aromas of dark berries, violet, bitter chocolate and mint. Lush, fleshy and packed with fruit flavors; concentrated and mouthfilling. This manages superb richness and layered texture with no loss of clarity. Finishes with fine, noble, palate-coating tannins and excellent persistence. A fine showing. (ST)" (11/2000)

1998 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (96RP, 95WS, 94DC, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, the 1998 Lafite Rothschild is deep garnet with a hint of brick and gorgeous notions of sandalwood, crème de cassis, smoked meats, black pepper and garrigue with touches of chargrill, dried herbs and mincemeat pie. Medium-bodied, soft and plush on the palate, it has tons of mouth-filling savory and plum preserves flavors and a very long, savory finish. Delicious now, it should keep for 15-20 more years. 1998 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Pavie, St-Emilion (95RP, 95VN, 95W&S, 93JG, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine still possesses a dense, youthful, plum/garnet color to the rim, with very little lightening. The first vintage for Pavie under Chantal and Gérard Perse, the 1998 is full-bodied, showing lots of cedar wood, forest floor, roasted herbs, black cherry and blackcurrant and new saddle leather. It is quite full-bodied, opulent and seems to be just entering its plateau of full maturity, where it should last another 15-20 years. (RP)" (08/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1998 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga" Barolo (97JS, 95RP, 95ST, 93WS). James Suckling: "This is drinking so beautifully now with so much plum, licorice, and berry character. It's full body and very soft with polished tannins and a super long finish. The round texture ad decadent fruit is wonderful. " (06/2016)

1998 Gaja "Sperss" Nebbiolo Langhe
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Gaja "Sperss" Nebbiolo Langhe (95RP, 95ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the things I have learned over the years is that you can count on Angelo Gaja to make a strong showing in just about any tasting. Yes, I know, Sperss is not Barolo (a small percentage of Barbera is added), but at its core the wine captures the essence of Serralunga and is as representative of these hillside vineyards as any Barolo. Dark tar, smoke, leather, spices, menthol and black cherries all make an appearance in this muscular, full-throttle wine. While the vast majority of 1998 Barolos can be enjoyed today, the 1998 Sperss could use another few years in the cellar. It isn't a crime to open a bottle today, but this is one of the few 1998s that still has upside potential. Simply put, the 1998 Sperss is a jewel. (AG)" (03/2009)

1998 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (99RP, 97WS, 96JS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still incredibly youthful and sporting a lot of fruit, the deep garnet-brick colored 1998 Haut-Brion sashays out of the glass with flamboyant red and black fruits, followed by a train of cassis, blueberry pie and chocolate box notions plus accents of iron ore, dried lavender and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wonderfully rich and decadently seductive in its generosity of fruit and velvety texture, offering seamless freshness and finishing with epic length and compelling minerality. Oh so delicious right now, with careful cellaring it should continue to excite through 2045 and beyond. (LPB)" (05/2018)

1998 Sine Qua Non "Backward and Forward" White Blend
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Sine Qua Non "Backward and Forward" White Blend (93ST, (89-92RP)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale peach skin color. Deep, complex nose of apple, nut skin, apricot and minerals; this somewhat resembled a bottle of 1990 Pol Roger Winston Churchill I had tasted 15 minutes earlier. Thick, penetrating and solidly structured; rich, nuanced flavors of vanilla, minerals, apricot and superripe peach. Wonderful sweetness and chewy texture more akin to the Southern Rhone than to Southern California. Great building length on the finish. Close in quality to the extraordinary '95 Sine Qua Non white blend labelled The Bride. (ST)" (11/2000)

1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (97RP, 94W&S, 93VN, 91JS, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 1998 Mouton Rothschild is deep garnet-brick in color with lovely crème de cassis, dried roses, hoisin and baking spice notes with underlying notions of dried cherries and mulberries plus touches of wood smoke, incense and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied and packed with rich fruit framed by firm, chewy tannins, it is stacked with complex, evolving flavors and finishes with incredibly long-lasting perfumed notes. According to winemaker Philippe Dhalluin, this needs about three hours of decanting at this stage. I simply love the place this wine is in right now, possessing plenty of mature, tertiary characters yet still sporting bags of fruit. It won’t be fading anytime soon either and should cellar nicely for 20-25+ more years. (LPB)" (05/2018)

1998 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia
Bid on this bottle of 1998 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia (98RP, 97VN, 97WS, 95W&S, 95WE, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that flirts with perfection, and should rival the 1986 as one of the legendary Granges produced, the 1998 has one of the highest alcohol contents (nearly 15%) as well as one of the highest percentages of Shiraz in the blend (97%). Its stunning purple color is accompanied by exceptionally sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with barbecue spices, an endearing, smoky earthiness, pepper, roasted meats, and coffee. Huge, massive, unctuously textured, and extraordinarily youthful, this impressive wine is a candidate for perfection. It should continue to evolve over the next three decades. (RP) 98+" (06/2009)
