Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1991 Liparita Howell Mountain Merlot. Prohibition may have brought a sorry end to many Napa wineries, but fortunately decades later people like Spencer and Lindsay Hoopes have brought them back to life. Liparita was founded in 1880 and was an award-winning winery—the estate was awarded a gold and bronze medal at the Paris Exposition in 1900, among others—until its demise due to the detriments of phylloxera and Prohibition. The name of the estate was inspired by the soils of the island of Lipari off of Sicily which the original owner and geologist, William Keyes, found to be similar to the volcanic soils on his estate on Howell Mountain.

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1991 Ravenswood "Pickberry" Sonoma Mountain Bordeaux Blend (92RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 Pickberry Proprietary Red Wine (a blend of approximately two-thirds Merlot and the reminder mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a tiny dollop of Cabernet Franc) is another great success for this luxury-priced proprietary wine. The opaque ruby/purple color is followed by intense aromas of chocolate, cassis, herbs, and meaty scents. Deep and full-bodied, with high tannin, fine acidity, and superb richness... Although most consumers are fanatically attached to this winery's terrific Zinfandels, Ravenswood also does other things well. (RP)" (04/1994)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95JG, 92ST, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon is another upcoming re-release from the winery’s library. It is one of the most unique wines I have ever tasted from Togni. The warm year yielded an abundant crop. At the time, Togni also made a white wine. Because of the size of the crop, the harvest took longer than normal, which meant the red grapes spent a little longer on the vine than they would have otherwise. The 1991 presents an intriguing combination of raciness from the super-ripe fruit, but within the classic Togni framework. Sweet tobacco, camphor, savory herbs, licorice and worn-in leather are some of the nuances that add complexity to the fruit. Layers of liqueur-like sweetness frame the beguiling finish. The 1991 is currently peaking, and it won’t last forever, but readers lucky enough to taste this wine are in for a real treat. I have been fortunate to

Bid on this magnum of 1991 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (99RP, 96ST, 95DC, 94JG, 94VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While this vintage of Dominus contains no Merlot in the blend, every time I taste it I am reminded of a great vintage of Petrus such as 1982, 1989 or 1990. Although different, the 1991 Dominus possesses extraordinary intensity, remarkable opulence, and amazing fruit extraction, all welded to a full-bodied structure. The wine's sensational purity and inner-core of depth must be tasted to be believed. The 1991 will be approachable young because of its sweet tannin, yet it exhibits the potential to last for 25 years. Perhaps 1994 will rival it, but for now, the 1991 is unquestionably the greatest Dominus, as well as a potential legend in the making. (RP)" (05/1995)

Bid on this bottle of 1991 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94WS, 92VN). Wine Spectator: "Healthy dark color, wonderful youthful vitality. Rich mocha, chocolate, black cherry and spice flavors, elegant and polished, with softening tannins and dusty, cedary oak adding dimension. Excellent balance. (JL, Web Only-2002)"

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1991 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon (88% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Merlot) is an opaque, deeply saturated, purple-colored wine with a super sweet, pure nose of black-cherries, cassis, minerals, and vanilla. The wine possesses exceptional richness, full body, ripe tannin, and a blockbuster finish. Approachable now, it promises to evolve for two decades. Dalla Valle has propelled itself into the top echelon of California Cabernet Sauvignon and proprietary red wines. The owners, Gustave and Naoko Dalla Valle, are admirably supported by winemaker Heidi Barrett (the wife of winemaker/proprietor Bo Barrett of Chateau Montelena). This team is producing awesomely concentrated wines from their 25-acre hillside vineyard overlooking the Napa Valley floor. There is no secret to their success. The wines are made from fully ripened fruit, and are neither excessiv
