1989 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Gentaz-Dervieux "Côte Brune - Cuvée Réservée" Côte-Rôtie (95JG). John Gilman: "The 1989 Côte-Rôtie from Marius Gentaz is a brilliant wine that fully synthesizes the quality of a top-notch vintage with the magical, classic touch of a maestro. The beautiful, black fruity nose wafts from the glass in a complex aromatic constellation of black raspberries, black cherries, stony soil tones, woodsmoke, a touch of cardamom, espresso, still a bit of youthful, medicinal syrah tones, lavender and nutskins. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, young and stunning, with a lovely core of pure fruit, outstanding soil inflection, firm, well-measured tannins and brilliant length and grip on the focused and very refined, albeit, still chewy finish. This is early days still for this great vintage chez Gentaz, and I would be strongly inclined to keep it tucked away for at least another five or six years (minimum) before starting to drink it in earnest. (Drink between 2019

1989 Paolo Scavino "Cannubi" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Paolo Scavino "Cannubi" Barolo (96RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scavino's three 1989 Barolos are spectacular. The 1989 Barolo Cannubi is a legend in the making. Its spectacular nose of sweet black fruits, licorice, grilled meats, and smoky new oak is followed by a wine with immense richness, stunning opulence, a multidimensional personality, and a spectacularly long, well-delineated finish. Approachable now, it promises to drink well and even improve for another 15-20 years. These are the finest Barolos I have tasted from Scavino. (RP)" (04/1994)
