Bid on this 7-bottle lot of 1979 Haut Bages Liberal, Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1979 is another full-flavored, robust wine from Haut-Bages-Liberal. Quite dark ruby, with an appealing ripe cassis, spicy bouquet, and a full-bodied, meaty texture, this wine has high acidity and enough tannin to warrant cellaring. Neither refined nor elegant, it is robust, rustic, and straightforward." (12/1997)
Starting Bid: $200.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1979 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien. "On the harder side in its youth, this should be ready right now. Lots of red berry fruit. Decant half an hour." (Clyde Beffa Jr, K&L Bordeaux Buyer) "The nose was full of currant, blackberry, rich, spicy dark cherry fruit. Secondary aromas of lead and very subtle green peppercorn emerged... it was elegant in that mature claret sense: silky smooth, intense and pure fruit with a suggestion of roasted meat." (Joe Manekin, K&L)
Starting Bid: $260.00

Bid on this 3L-bottle of 1979 Ducru Beaucaillou, St-Julien (3L). Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to its "beautiful pebbles" ("beaux Cailloux") that geologists refer to less romantically as Gunzian gravel. The estate has 300 years of winemaking history and since 1941 it has been owned by the Boire family. This particular wine came soon after a period of extensive modernization in the winery and vineyard.
Starting Bid: $510.00
