1971 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1971 Margaux, Margaux. Michael Broadbent: "Distinctly more attractive than Lafite or Latour...well covered from the mid-1970s and a decade later displaying considerable charm with a delicate, fragrant bouquet and crisp fruit and ,though fully mature - looking, almost identical comments at a dinner in 1996. The following year, at the first of Wagner's verticals, sweet, flavoury, refreshing, some charm buy just misses. Now fully mature-looking with a ruddy amber colour and a nowhere-to-go orange rim. Initially an attractive 'leaf mould' which opened up richly. Fairly sweet, nice weight and shape, lean yet fleshy. Last tasted November 2000. 3 stars. No need to wait." (Michael Broadbent's Vintage Wine, pg 82-83)

1971 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1971 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Served at the property, it has been some ten years since I last tasted this off-vintage First Growth. At 42-years of age, is offers a simple bouquet of wild hedgerow, sous-bois and a musty, second-hand cigar box. The palate is medium-bodied with light grainy tannins and a pleasing soft texture. Strangely, it feels more aligned to a merlot-dominated wine rather than a Cabernet at the finish. This bottle of perfect provenance was sound, but I suspect that others will be in decline. Drink now. (NM, Wine Journal)" (11/2012)
