Chave Selection "Blanche" Hermitage Blanc. Of the 2004 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc,Wine Spectator writes: "Very rich, but cuts like a knife, with dried apricot, marzipan and wet stone notes leading the way for richer flavors of candle wax, heather, honey and white peach on the back end. The long, extremely taut finish seems almost tannic; this is built for a long life. Try now, or forget it in the cellar. (JM) " (09/2007)

2003 Paul Jaboulet Ainé "La Chapelle" Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Paul Jaboulet Ainé "La Chapelle" Hermitage (96RP, 96WS, 94JS, 92VN, 92W&S). Wine Spectator: "Deceptively graceful at first, with a Burgundy-like perfume, this quickly delivers a torrent of fruit--blackberry, boysenberry and black currant--that cascades over itself, pushed from behind by flavors of mocha, mineral, tar and violets. Long, sweet and pure through a densely structured finish. Best from 2008 through 2030. *Top 100 Wines of 2006 and Collectibles* (JM)" (02/2006)

1991 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1991 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (99WS, 96VN, 93RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Suave and seamless, with a perfectly melded core of date, dried cherry and raspberry, bergamot and blood orange notes framed by supple mesquite and rooibos tea hints. Extremely long, with mouthwatering acidity acting like a perfect set of backup singers, staying buried deep on the finish to augment and push the flavors and aromas gently. Sublime and absolutely gorgeous.—Non-blind Chave vertical (June 2012). Drink now through 2020. (JM, Web only-2012)"

2007 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage ((95-96ST), 95RP, 95WS, 94JS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "I tasted this wine in three components from stainless steel tanks, where it was awaiting bottling this winter. #1: Red berries and flowers on the nose, with strong mineral and floral notes and Asian spices. #2: More masculine and brooding, offering deep cherry compote and blackcurrant scents and suggestions of licorice and black cardamom. Smoky dark fruit flavors are framed by chewy tannins and pick up sweeter red berry qualities with air. The finish is sweet and penetrating, with a strong echo of black raspberry. #3: Fresh raspberry and cherry on the nose, with notes of smoked meat, minerals and violet. Supple, mineral-laced red fruit flavors are joined by allspice and violet pastille on the back. Very fresh sample with strong finishing lift and spiciness. Looks to be an excellent wine that will provide plenty of pleasure on the (relatively) young s

2005 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2005 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage (100RP, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "My favorite of the 2005s from Chapoutier, the 2005 Ermitage Le Pavillon is a heavenly wine that comes from one of the greatest sites for Syrah in the world, the steep, granite-dominated hillside of les Bessards. Getting a bevy of expletives in my notes, this insanely good Hermitage offers classic notes of smoked meats, charcoal, liquid rock, burning embers, chocolate and cassis, as well as a thick, unctuous and massively concentrated style on the palate. Changing in the glass, with exotic aromatics, incredible purity and building, polished tannin, Syrah doesn’t get any better. Given the youthful profile here, I’m sure this will see its 50th birthday in fine form, but it still delivers plenty of pleasure today given its texture, purity and balance. (JD)" (03/2016)

2009 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc (100RP, 98WS, 96ST, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From one of the greatest years in Hermitage, Jean Louis Chave's 2009 Hermitage Blanc is quite possibly the greatest white ever from this estate (the 2013 will certainly be in the same league, but in a different style) and tops out on my scale. An utterly profound wine in every way, it offers to-die-for notes of liquid rock, licorice, buttered citrus, honey and quince. This gives way to a voluptuous, full-bodied, decadent and heavenly Hermitage Blanc that has massive richness and mid-palate depth while always staying fresh, pure and focused. This is insanely good white that will have half a century of longevity. Bravo! (JD)" (09/2015)

2009 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (100RP, 98WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The greatest wines Chave has produced since 2003 are the two cuvees of 2009 Hermitage. The 2009 Hermitage exhibits a black/purple color along with a sumptuous nose of roasted meats, ground pepper, black currants, blackberry jam, and subtle smoke and licorice. The extraordinary bouquet is followed by a wine of extravagant intensity as well as tremendous focus and precision. While not as powerful as the blockbuster 2003, the amazing 2009 may turn out to be a modern day version of their magnificent 1990 (which is drinking incredibly well at present). Anyone who loves Hermitage and has a cold cellar should be lining up to get a few bottles of this beauty. (RP)" (12/2011)

1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (100RP, 98JS, 97WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Hermitage La Chapelle lived up to its reputation on this occasion, and of the three titans (1990, 1978 and 1961), it was probably my favorite. Still inky colored and ruby at the rim, it offers an absolutely profound bouquet of sweet cassis, smoked meats, chocolate, licorice and spice. This is followed by a full-bodied, insanely textured, pure and hedonistic palate that has that perfect mix of still-vibrant fruit and ample secondary nuances. I suspect the '61 was even richer at this stage, but the overall purity and freshness here are incredible. It will continue to evolve for decades, but I'd happily open bottles today. 2002 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage ((91-94RP), 92WS, (90-91ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the candidates for the Rhone Valley’s 'wine of the vintage' is Chave’s 2002 Hermitage. A draconian selection has resulted in a deep ruby/purple-colored offering revealing sweet notes of melted licorice, briery berries, earth, and herbs. Medium to full-bodied, pure, elegant, and intense, this forward-styled Hermitage appears to be better than the 1992, 1993, and 1994, which are all fine wines that are holding up well. The 2002 should be at its peak between 2005-2015. What Chave accomplished in the extremely challenging 2002 vintage is unquestionably noteworthy. Not because of tiny yields and small grapes, but due to Chave’s decision to eliminate every grape except the very best, 2002 is a small crop. (RP)" (12/2004)

1995 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage (97RP, 97VN, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A step up and showing more minerality, structure and length, with a masculine style, the 1995 Hermitage is drinking beautifully today. Described as disappointing by Jean-Louis over the past 5 years or so, it appears to be opening up and possesses fabulous, liquid rock-like qualities to go with cassis, blackberry and wild herbs. Medium to full-bodied, fabulously textured, rich and stretching out nicely on the finish, enjoy this beauty over the coming decade. (JD)" (08/2014)

1990 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage
Bid on this bottle of 1990 M. Chapoutier "Le Pavillon" Ermitage (100RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Le Pavilion is as compelling as the 1989. It exhibits slightly less opulence, but more power and weight. Black colored, with an extraordinary perfume of licorice, sweet blackcurrants, smoke, and minerals, it coats the palate with layer upon layer of decadently rich, superconcentrated, nearly viscous Syrah flavors. There is amazing glycerin, a chewy, unctuous texture, and phenomenal length. The tannins, which are considerable when analyzed, are virtually obscured by the massive quantities of fruit. I hope I live to see the day when Chapoutier's 1990 Ermitage Le Pavilion, Chave's 1990 Hermitage, and Jaboulet's 1990 Hermitage La Chapelle are fully mature! What a trio of wines these three producers have produced from this historic appellation! My best guess for the aging potential of the Ermitage Le Pavilion is that it is more forward than both the Chave and Jaboulet Hermitages
