Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (97VN, 96RP, 96WE, 93ST). Vinous: "Mascarello’s 2007 Barolo shows just how compelling this vintage can be, even now. Sensual, layered and totally voluptuous in the glass, the 2007 shows the more flamboyant side of Barolo. I find the wine’s voluptuous, engaging personality impossible to resist. Sure, 2007 is not a classic vintage, but when a wine is this good, I say: Who cares? (AG)" (07/2016)
Starting Bid: $420.00

Bid on this bottle of 1958 Giuseppe Contratto Barolo. Contratto was founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Contratto and the winery is known as the oldest producer of sparkling wine in Italy (they also made red wines, obviously). In fact, the "Metodo Classico" 1919 Contratto Extra Brut was the first vintage sparkling wine ever made in the country. The winery has a long, distinguished history. At the turn of the 20th century, its wines were leaving Canelli for destinations all over the world (predominantly to royal houses), and Contratto was the personal supplier to the Vatican as well as to the Italian Royal Family. Awards and medals from international exhibitions and contests of the time emphasize why the name of Contratto has long been synonymous with prestige and quality.

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Guido Porro "Vigna Rionda" Barolo (92VN). Vinous: "The 2015 Barolo Vigna Rionda is a very pretty and elegant wine, especially considering this is just the second vintage from these young vines. Sensual and ample, with striking translucency, Porro's 2015 captures plenty of the refined, sensual qualities that have made Barolos from this site so coveted over the years. If the 2015 is this good, I can only imagine where the wine could go in more favorable vintages and once the vines are a bit older. Next to the other Barolos in this range, the Vigna Rionda has a completely unique textural feel. Then again, that is precisely what makes this site so unique. (AG)" (11/2019)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2008 Paolo Scavino "Bric dël Fiasc" Barolo.
Starting Bid: $350.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1971 Fontanafredda Barolo. Robert Parker writes: "The Fontanafredda estate is one of the oldest Piedmont estates. Interestingly, in my college and law school days the Fontanafredda Barolos were my introduction to the wonders of Piedmontese wines. A few bottles of the 1970 and 1971, bearing price tags of $5.99, remain in my cellar. Both wines are still drinking beautifully, revealing no signs of decline, a testament to just how long these wines can last. In top vintages, Fontanafredda can produce a half dozen or more single vineyard Barolos."

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1968 Marchesi di Barolo "Gia Opera Pia" Barolo .
Starting Bid: $270.00

Bid on this bottle of 1985 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (94RP, 93JG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current releases from Conterno include the fabulous 1985 Barolo Cascina Francia Serralunga. It possesses the classic Nebbiolo nose of roses and tar, as well as masses of rich red and black fruits. Unctuous and intense, with spectacular fruit, it offers great fragrance and massive body to go along with its high extract and huge tannin. (RP)" (04/1994)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 & 2007 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1989 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo (92RP) and 1-bottle of 2007 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo (93RP, 92JS, 92ST, 92WS, 90W&S). Of the 2007 Vietti "Castiglione" Barolo,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2007 Barolo Castiglione deftly balances the open, radiant personality of the vintage with considerable underlying structure. Warm, dense and full-bodied, the 2007 Barolo Castiglione flows effortlessly across the palate with generous fruit and fabulous overall balance. The wine was even better when I tasted it from bottle a few months later. It is another overachieving wine from Vietti and a bottle that is exceedingly fairly priced. (AG)" (02/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (96RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2006 Barolo Monprivato is incredibly primary at this stage. The 2006 is an explosive Monprivato endowed with layers of ripe red fruit backed up by firm, muscular tannins that speak with great eloquence. I expect the 2006 to go through a period of stubbornness - as it often does - but it should begin to show well at around age ten or so. From time to time, the wine shows glimpses of its nobility. The 2006 is shaping up to be a profound Monprivato. The only thing it needs is time. This is a fabulous effort from Mascarello. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036. (AG)" (12/2010)
