Avuá Amburana Cachaça Brasil (750ml)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This luscious cachaça is aged up to two years in barrels made from a rare Brazilian wood called amburana, hence the name. That aging time yields a pale straw hue and distinct notes of banana and honey, with a spicy fillip of cayenne and cassia bark doused with brown sugar. (KN)" (06/2013) K&L Notes: Avuá is a small batch, single-sourced cachaça lovingly crafted by one of Brazil’s few female distillers. She uses a family recipe honed to perfection over three generations. The lush, crisp spirit, which offers up subtle botanica ...

Novo Fogo "Tanager" Organic Cachaca Brasil (750ml)

The Tanager expression is the first double aged cachaça available in the USA and it mixes the Brazilian South's two favorite wood types. Starting in repurposed oak barrels and finished in arariba (Brazilian zebrawood) for a natural red color and a distinctive alpine earthiness. This truly unique cachaça suggests tropical fruit, grass, cinnamon bark, and other holiday spices; it can be sipped alone or as the base spirit in twists of classic cocktails like the Sazerac.

Avuá Prata Cachaça Brasil (750ml)

The very special Avua Cachaca is from one of Brasil's highest quality cachaca producers. There are essentially two types of Cachaca, industrial and artisanal. This is truly the artisanal style, hand crafted from field to bottle. Because of the small scale and seasonal nature of production, each batch will be a unique expression of the soil, sun, and stills. This is not the stinky harsh Cachaca that some many people are used to. Instead, this is clean and bright with incredibly precise aromas of fresh tropical fruits and lush floral tones. A brilliant exa ...

Novo Fogo 2 Year Old "Single Barrel #207" Organic Cachaca Brasil (750ml)

A winter spirit for a winter day, Barrel 207 wakes you up with a strong bitter chocolate nose. It softens in the palate with notes of the spices you may find in cinnamon bread - vanilla, orange peel - but in the creamiest of ways. For good measure, this expression finishes with allspice and coffee, so you can sit for a while and think about it.

Novo Fogo "Graciosa" Organic Cachaca Brasil (750ml)

Graciosa is a reflection of the magical rainforest where Novo Fogo is based and the historic road that traverses the forest on its way from the mountains to the ocean. This expression is aged for 2 years in repurposed oak and finished for 18 months in castanheira do Pará (Brazil nut) barrels, lending it a vibrantly aromatic yet creamy disposition: starting with pecan and orchids on the nose, the palate morphs into cherry custard and finishes with pleasant notes of soft clove and anise.

Novo Fogo "Colibri" Organic Cachaca Brasil (750ml)

The Colibri expression (meaning "hummingbird" in Portuguese), Novo Fogo moved the Cachaca between recharred oak barrels and Brazilian Teak (Amburana) barrels. Each move created new layers of flavor. The predominant spices of vanilla and toffee (from the oak) and cinnamon and chestnuts (from the teak) come together in a balanced expression that also includes tropical fruit such as banana and passionfruit but finishes playfully with notes of ginger, vanilla and cinnamon.

Avuá Tapinhoa Cachaça Brasil (750ml)

The rare wood used for the single barrel Tapinhoa was originally used by the distiller's father years ago. The tall vertical vat of dark pungent tropical wood had been abandoned because of its incredibly porous nature, but when they realized how special this unique barrel was Avuá decided to fill the thing up regardless of the potential losses. The result is an utterly unique example of artisanal cachaça unlike any other on the market. Full bodied and textured with wonderful notes of toasted coconut and freshly cut flowers.

Novo Fogo Oak Barrel Aged Organic Cachaca Brasil (750ml)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Certified organic and matured in repurposed Bourbon casks for at least two years, this aged cachaça has a tawny color and thick butterscotch aroma. Crème brûlée and coconut flavors are chased by a lingering caramel and oak finish." (06/2011) K&L Notes: This is the classic Novo Fogo aged in 53-gallon American oak bourbon barrels that have been taken apart, sanded, and re-toasted. The 2-3 year process takes place in the heat and humidity of our home in the Atlantic Rainforest. The resulting spirit exhibits fresh baked banana b ...
