Compass Box "The Circle" Limited Edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This blended Scotch is a collaboration with London bartender Rosey Mitchell from Three Sheets, who sought to make an approachable 'sunshine whisky.' It has a golden hue and bold fresh apple and honey scent. The palate is light, fresh and lively, a core of custard and vanilla cookie is accented with lemon peel and ginger. Sip or mix this crowd-pleaser. (KN)" (12/2019) K&L Notes: The newest Compass Box release spotlights Rosey Mitchell, 2018 winner of The Circle, a global program designed to inspire bartenders. Her desire was ...

Whisky Advocate: "The only survivor from Old Pulteney’s core range shake-up of 2018, this has been matured in first and second-fill bourbon casks. The nose is delicate, with almonds, honey, and floral notes. Malt and toffee on the palate, with spicy oak and a hint of brine. The medium-length finish is nutty, with wood spices. (GS, Winter 2018)" K&L Notes: The Old Pulteney distillery is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland, situated in the town of Wick. Your nose and palate discern complex combinations, robust yet delicate with a hint o...

A rare single cask of Highland Park over 30 years of age. Mr. Murray rates this at the top of the pile at 96.5 points. He says, "Nose: Pretty near perfect HP for its age, and one of the best examples of the distillery of that era I have nosed for a very long time. Slightly above average peat for a HP, which works perfectly in its favour. The usual heather honey has been skewed slightly by the heady mix of tannins and peat. The saltiness is profound, the oak a rich, spicy backbone. The sweetness is subtle and still honeyed, but more now a blend of Manuka ...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Smells of dried figs, sultanas, lime marmalade, sea breeze, green olive, lemon grass, malted milk and unsweetened coconut. The taste profile asserts itself in the forms of light caramel, paraffin and almond paste; at midpalate the spirit becomes more evident as the off-dry, malty, moderately salty flavor warms the tongue and throat. Concludes gracefully and elegantly, with a mild rush of heat and smoke." (06/2006) Whisky Advocate: "Thick barley and viscous, with ever-present brine and berried fruit throughout. Underlying not...

Arran "Machrie Moor" Cask Strength Peated Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml) (Previously $80) (Previously $80)
Top Pick!
The folks at Arran, which has been independently owned since its inception in 1995, have been quietly making some of the best island-distilled whisky in Scotland for 25 years. Their water source is 100% rainwater coming from Loch Na Davie, high above the distillery. The clean water, combined with 100% concerto malt and a careful distillation, is the essence of Arran — it's fresh, barley-forward, and shows flavors heavy with citrus, stone fruit, and vanilla pudding. They never color or chill filter any of their whiskies, choosing instead to retain all of ...

Orbium is Hendrick's reimagined. It's the same classic Hendrick's, but with the addition of quinine, wormwood, and blue lotus blossom. The results are a completely different gin that shows off many of the traditional gin cocktails in one beautiful pour.

An absolute gem in the Perfect Fifth line up. At 96 points it's close to the legendary Highland Park they've also bottled, but for half the price. Jim Murray says, "Anyone who remembers the old Springbank 25-year-olds of the early 1990s will recognise this aroma as a direct descendent - indeed it is near enough identical in both weight and character. The huge, nuggety oak is faultless (this must have come from a cask which had been seasoned in the old - virtually lost - style). Salt dominates but there are dried apricots and spiced pear, too. Meanwhile t...

91 points Whisky Advocate: "Drier, less toffee and fruit, more dried spice and oak when compared to the standard Oban 14 year old. A beautiful combination of rich, nutty toffee balanced by polished oak, salt, pepper, seaweed, distant smoke, and dried fruit. Somewhat oily in texture. Wonderful depth, too! An improvement on what is already the biggest-selling Diageo single malt scotch in the U.S. Very exciting and dynamic. (JH)" (12/2008) K&L Notes: Always tough to find—this is a limited-edition bottling for the U.S. only. As the distillery states: "Only...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The nosing passes find layers of aromas of honey, heather, pine needle, thyme and salty single malt Scotch whisky. Entry is thick, gently sweet but balanced by a fierce herbal quality; midpalate focuses on the whisky while the various herbs, spices and honey make merry around their whisky core. One of the best liqueurs available." (05/2008) K&L Notes: The classic Scotch whisky liqueur. Make yourself a rusty nail - one of the easiest and most delicious cocktails on the planet. Pour .75oz of Drambuie into a glass of rocks,...

While "The Original Ten" moniker is a bit confusing given it's recently revamped nature - the whisky is classic. It's got grip, ginger and vanilla spice, and lots of fruit ranging from dark currant on through to Bartlett Pear and Golden Apple. If you like a full flavoried and unapologetic Scotch, the BenRiach Original Ten is right for you.

Kilchoman 100% Islay Barley 10th Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
91 points Whisky Advocate: "This expression was distilled from barley harvested on Islay in 2007 and 2009, and combines whisky aged in 43 bourbon barrels. Sweet peat, lemon juice, and sea salt on the nose, with honey, vanilla, and an herbal note. The palate opens with overt peatiness, followed by brine and lemon, plus vanilla and a hint of charcoal. Long in the finish, with ashy peat and sea salt. (GS, Spring 2020)" K&L Notes: Kilchoman's pièce de résistance - The 100% Islay Barley release. 2020's release features 39 bourbon casks and 2 oloroso casks in...

Laphroaig's Original Cask Strength 10 Year Old Single Malt has been a runaway success story for nearly 15 years. With each successive release, this gorgeous malt has seemed to outdo its previous iteration. While this most recent release (Batch 012) has yet to be professionally reviewed, the previous two batches received scores of 94 and 93 points respectively from the Whisky Advocate, putting them in the company of many of the top marquee 25 Year Old bottlings. This is truly one of the best 10 Year Olds on the market today.

Whisky Advocate: "After six ‘Work in Progress’ releases, Kilkerran from Glengyle Distillery has finally come of age with this core expression. It comprises 70% whisky from first-fill bourbon casks and 30% from sherry casks. Floral on the nose, with honey and a hint of brine, then peaty fruit notes develop. The palate is confident and oily, slightly earthy, with tinned peaches, black pepper, cinnamon, smoke, and a suggestion of medicine chests. The finish is relatively long, with pepper, licorice, and drying oak. (GS, Winter 2016)" K&L Notes: When the do...

90 points Whisky Advocate: "The latest addition to Glengoyne’s permanent range is a 25 year old, matured in European oak sherry casks and presented in non-chill filtered format. Syrup-like on the nose, very sweet, with milk chocolate, ginger, Jaffa oranges, and sticky toffee pudding. Smooth and sweet on the palate, with overt sherry, sultanas, and gentle spice. The finish is medium to long, with a hint of oak, old leather, and lingering cloves. Bold, yet elegant. (GS, Fall 2014)" K&L Notes: Glengoyne is one of Scotland's most underrated distilleries, an...

Balvenie 15 Year Old Single Sherry Barrel Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
91 points Whisky Advocate: "One of the finest Balvenie 15 year olds that I’ve tasted. The flavors are clean, well defined, confident, and beautifully balanced. Full malty foundation (with some ripe barley thrown in). Soft, creamy vanilla, honeycomb, bright fruit (orange, nectarine, lemon peel, hints of pineapple), with emerging dried vanilla, coconut, oak resin, and subtle anise. Polished oak finish. It doesn’t have the depth that the classic older Balvenies have shown in the past, but what it does have, it has in spades. Quite splendid!" (03/2010) 90 ...
Price: $129.99

Wine Enthusiast: "The earthy scent of this whisky suggests oak and hints of vanilla and caramel. On the palate, look for drying, oaky flavors: Tea, cigar wrapper, espresso, plus clove and black pepper on the biting finish. Dilution coaxes out a mellow honeyed note and faint puff of smoke, but overall it's dry as a bone." (12/2017)
Price: $79.99

Notes from the distillery: "Pour yourself a dram of our 12-year-old expression and you’ll appreciate why we mature our spirit entirely in the finest sherry oak casks. The luxury box reveals the stylish bottle, allowing the natural amber spirit to shine from within. You’ll taste the intense richness on the palate and enjoy the deep, long finish it delivers. So sit back and savour."

Part of Diageo's line of eight single malt whiskies to commemorate the eighth and final season of HBO's hit television series Game of Thrones that is based on the novel of the same name, and the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, by George R.R. Dalwhinnie is one of the highest-altitude distilleries in Scotland and resembles Winterfell in its remote and frigid location.

92 points Whisky Advocate: "Classic ‘southern shores’ Islay from the onset: salty and medicinal on the nose, with smoked haddock, citrus fruits, and milk chocolate. The palate yields full-on hot peat, pipe tobacco, black coffee, licorice, and more chocolate. The finish is long and malty, with sweet smoke. Non-chill filtered. (GS, Fall 2018)" K&L Notes: Still holding our super low price on this classic Islay whisky, which was named World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray in his 2008 edition of the Whisky Bible, making it easier for you, too, to fall in lo...

Blended together and then aged for additional months in oak casks, this new, more mature blend of Isle of Skye is far superior to its 8 years aged counterpart. While the 8 year has a classic grain component, the 12 year smooths all of that greenness out with more supple wood, rounding out the palate and really bringing the Talisker smoke to the forefront. For less than $40, this is one of the hottest deals we have in Scotch. It's meant to be drunk on the rocks, but you could have a great time sipping this one. Supple vanilla, smoky peat, and a long, smoo...

93 points Whisky Advocate: "Initially aged in bourbon barrels before being transferred into quarter casks, and ultimately oloroso sherry butts. The sherry influence adds an additional dimension to the quarter-cask style, hence an oily nose of dates, vanilla, tropical fruits, and bonfire smoke. The palate is drier than might be expected, with Laphroaig iodine, barbecued meats, muted sherry, and peat smoke. The finish comprises dried fruits and lots of oak. (GS, Fall 2018)" K&L Notes: A limited release that was supposed to be for European travel retail on...

A surpisinngly delicate single malt of 15 years from a rather obscure, but very old distillery. Glencadam was founded in 1825 and spent much of the 1900's in the Allied Distiller's porfolio before being mothballed in 2000 and sold to the current ownership group in 2003. Angus Dundee Distiller's purchased the distillery and got it up and running again. They've stayed true to their original style of a very mellow and easy drinking Highland Scotch. All of the current bottlings are bottled at 46%ABV with no color or chill filtration.

Each batch is carefully made by hand using only traditional methods; without chill filtration nor any other modern process. It has a deep and rich glowing amber coloration. 91 points Whisky Advocate: "Distilled from Scottish barley, this is the first permanent age-statement Port Charlotte bottling. First and second-fill American oak and French wine casks were used for aging. Rock pools, lemon juice, caramel, but little overt peat on the nose. The palate boasts big orchard fruit notes, smoky coconut, and brine. Again, the peat is quite muted. Long and spicy in the drying, peaty finish. (GS, Fall 2018)" K&L Notes: The first permanent release of Port Charlotte 10 Year. Apparently, they've got enough whisky to keep this going ...

Whisky Advocate: "Representing House Targaryen, this features its three-headed dragon on the label. Malt and honey on the subtle nose, with a hint of cinnamon. Medium-bodied, with milk chocolate, caramel, and youthful oak. Jaffa orange and gentle spice in the relatively short, spiky finish. (GS, Spring 2019)" K&L Notes: Part of Diageo's line of eight single malt whiskies to commemorate the eighth and final season of HBO's hit television series Game of Thrones that is based on the novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Balvenie "Doublewood" 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Silky and downright succulent, this Scotch is made with two types of oak casks—as the DoubleWood name suggests—but it’s really all about the influence of the ex-Sherry cask. Aromas suggest golden raisins and dried apricots. The silky palate starts out moderately smoky, but glides into a richer, honeyed, nutty profile that finishes with cocoa and clove accents. (KN)" (12/2015) Whisky Advocate: "This ever-popular expression of Balvenie is matured for roughly 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and finished for 9 months in Spanish oak...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This amber-hued whisky offers caramel, oak and a hint of black cherry on the nose and mouth. The drying palate leads with black cherry and creamy honey, finishing taut, with leather, cigar wrapper, dark chocolate and clove heat. (KN)" (12/2017) K&L Notes: The excellent Benromach 15 year was added to the core line in 2015. It's one of the best values for old Speyside on the market today. Designed to capture the old style of Speyside using both ex-bourbon and sherry casks, the Benromach 15 year offers something for every malt ...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Speyside Scotch is rich with vanilla notes, along with bright tropical fruit and a touch of smoke on the finish. *Best Buy* (KN)" (12/2013) K&L Notes: This is a great introduction to the Glenfarclas style. This Highland distillery's 12 year is aged in sherry casks and has a nose and palate with spice and sherried fruit, with hints of peat and a lingering spiciness.
Price: $49.99

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The complex, understated bouquet finds aromas of barley malt, seaweed, heather, oaky vanilla, honey, sherry cask, scrambled egg and minerals. The palate entry is oily, buttery and oaky sweet; by midpalate the flavors include assertive tastes of marzipan, marshmallow, baked pear/peach pastry and bacon fat. Finishes with a luscious fruit/grape thrust. A masterpiece. (PP)" (04/2008) 92 points Whisky Advocate: "The nose is complex, with almonds, coconut, soft leather, tropical fruits, and stewed black tea. Hints of brine and...

Whisky Advocate: "This expression replaces the previous 17 year old, and has been aged in bourbon and second-fill American oak casks, followed by a period in first-fill Spanish oak oloroso butts. Sherry is immediately obvious on the nose, with fresh-baked fruitcake aromas, honey, and allspice. The palate is sweet and spicy, with Jaffa orange segments dipped in sea salt, toffee, and dark chocolate. Orange and oak in the medium-length finish. GS (Winter 2018)" K&L Notes: The Old Pulteney distillery in Wick - one of the northernmost places on the Scottish ...

90 points Whisky Advocate: "One hundred ten years after the Nimrod expedition, blender Richard Paterson’s adventurous marriage of over 20 Highland malts brings fresh green fruits, manuka honey, vanilla, banana muffin, cantaloupe, fresh herbs, spice, and a wisp of smoke. Refreshing palate of green melon, light honey, vanilla, cinnamon, cooked apple, and gooseberry, becoming sour. More complexity on the finish: spice, smoke, cooked fruits, and chalky Sweethearts candies. Pair with mature prosciutto. (JM, Fall 2017)" K&L Notes: The new value-priced edition...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet is austere and leathery with curious aromas of beeswax, vegetable oil and oaky resin. Palate entry is focused on the resin; midpalate is splendidly multilayered and offers elements of black pepper, dried orange blossom, honeysuckle, dried fruit, sage, fennel and confections. Aftertaste is deep and unabashedly sweet and honeyed. *Superb, Highly Recommended*" (12/2009) Whisky Advocate: "Both bourbon and sherry casks were used for aging. Stewed fruits, butterscotch, and soft spices on the nose. Silky palate deliv...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aged in bourbon casks for 10 years, then 'extra matured' for two years in Oloroso Sherry casks. The result is luxe and rich, a fine after-dinner sipper. Allow a little time for the aroma to emerge, and a splash of water for maximum flavor. The reward is a thick caramel aroma and flavor, with mouthwatering spicy notes of clove, cassia bark and a hint of orange peel. Hendrick's Scottish Gin (750ml)
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This gin has a fierce following, in part because of its quirky brand personality (see the Monty Python-esque website) and aggressive marketing among bartenders. But it lives up to the hype. Some might expect a more concentrated rosewater-cucumber profile, but it's relatively subtle, with just a hint of cucumber mingling with juniper in the aroma, and white pepper, citrus and floral notes on the lingering finish. Upstart bottler The Perfect Fifth is sourcing some truly unusual and rare barrels for their inaugural release. An unexpected addition to the line up of ultra-premium whiskies released by the new bottler, this old malt from the "other" Campbeltown distillery is not to be ignored. Packaged in a unique wooden barrel case, it achieved "Liquid Gold Award" status and 94 points from preeminent whisky critic Jim Murray. Instantly seductive: vanilla pod, rich fruits, the smell of fur coats. A femme fatale of a malt. A base of crisp malt mixes with oak to give balance and structure. There is not a distillery on the south shore of Islay that I wouldn't be happy to drink and while the actual source has not been confirmed, it is presumed that this whisky comes from the first one off the road from Port Ellen, Laphroaig. This special distillery is becoming exceedingly difficult to source on market and even in its most youthful versions is becoming very expensive. When we noticed the reduced price of this excellent whisky we jumped at the chance to offer something unique and affordable to our customers. It's not often that we see single c...
