Our fifth vintage of this direct import Albariño, this wine shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit, and a brisk, saline-tinged palate. Located in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea, where the days are a bit warmer and evenings are slightly cooler, there is a wonderful mid-palate presence to complement the typically lean and mineral qualities of Albariño. A classic with any shellfish, especially Dungeness crab!

Native South African Bryan MacRobert grew up in a farming family and has been quietly making some of that country's best value wines. He fell in love with a girl from Rioja as well as the region's wines (we forget in which order) but quickly became fascinated with the inimitable terroirs and endless potential for wines in the region. A proponent not only of organic viticulture, but also a strong believer in the importance of legacy organically cultivated vines on top quality sites, Bryan is picky about where he grows and sources vines. The winemaking is ...

Albarino is the perfect summer white, but its naturally crisp acidity and peachy citrus flavors make it enjoyable year-round as an aperitif or paired with a variety of foods, particularly shellfish and seafood. It hails from the Rias Baixas zone of Galicia, on the northwest coast of Spain. Walk through any given fishing village along the "rias" (fjords) in this beautiful, cool, maritime-influenced region and you will find fresh grilled pulpo (octopus) vendors at every corner! A classic Albarino nose of white peach, citrus and mineral aromas gives way to ...

Juanjo Tellaetxe Tantaka grew up in a remote river valley in the Basque province of Araba. As a child Juanjo would walk with the shepherds as they followed their flocks through the valley. His family has lived for generations in Araba, the family cemetery is in the same river canyon as Juanjo’s vineyards. The steep mountains protect the valley from the harsh coastal winds blowing off of the Atlantic. The valley is humid and cool most of the year creating long hang times for the grapes. During the rainy season waterfalls cascade down sheer cliff sides and...

Composed primarily of Treixadura, this delicious Galician white has terrific freshness as well as a lovely rounded texture, with yellow fruit flavors and subtle minerality. Goto de Gomariz carefully farms their vines organically, with some Fukuoka influence as well, so they do not spray herbicides or insecticides, and use the bare minimum of treatments to keep the vines healthy. One of the leading producers in a D.O. where there the qualitative bar continues to rise each year.

91 points James Suckling: "A dense and tangy white with dried pineapple, apple and lemon-rind character. Full body. Thick yet fresh. Drink now. " (07/2019) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fruit-driven and young 2018 Font de la Figuera Blanco has aromas of white fruit and a touch of fennel and Mediterranean herbs. It's fresh and has nice balance, balsamic flavors and a dry, faintly bitter finish. It ends quite tasty and with focused, pure flavors. (LG)" (08/2019)

From the island of Tenerife, known for its high elevation vineyards and other worldly landscapde. A blend of ninety percent Listán Blanco, with ten percent Albillo Criollo, added for a burst of acidity. A bit over half of the fruit is grown at 500 meters of altitude, with the rest grown at 250 meters altitude. Hand-harvested and carried to the winery in small boxes of fifteen kilograms to avoid damaging the berries. As with almost all of the wines at Tajinaste, Agustín vinifies each parcel separately in inox tanks. One-fifth is aged in French barrels of...

The Godello is from three sites in the village of Valtuille de Abajo, though 90% of the fruit in this vintage actually comes from one north-facing site. The ultimate focus here is on preserving acidity, as Godello can get blowsy and even a little sloppy if overripened. So this is picked on the knife edge of ripeness. The wine ferments and ages in a combination of 2500-liter foudres and old 300-liter barrels. Rocky and mineral on the nose, with superb citrus-pith phenolics and pleasantly austere grip on the palate.

‘La Flamenca, in DO Alella, is a project close to the heart of winemaker Mario Rovier. He was born and raised in Barcelona and now spends his time between his birth city and the town of Ponferrada in DO Bierzo where he makes his Akilia wines. The ‘La Flamenca’ is a side project that allows Mario to explore the vineyards surrounding his hometown of Barcelona. He and his wife Maria organically farm three small plots of vines located in the Serralada de Marina natural park, named for the mountain chain belonging to the Catalonian coastal range. DO Alella i...

Zarate is legendary in the Salnes sub-zone of Rias Baixas. They were the first to bottle single vineyard Albariños, highlighting different terroirs within the region. Tras da Vina is a single parcel planted in the 1970's with cuttings from the Palomar vineyard. The soils here decomposing yellow granite and are the richest soils of all of their planting. This sees extended lees aging, over 2 years with no lees stiring, and partial malolactic fermentation. All of that was done to soften the acidity but enhances everything other component of the wine. It...
