93 points James Suckling: "Plenty of exotic fruit here with sliced-apple, mango and lemon aromas and flavors. Full body. Flavorful and delicious. Excellent. Sauvignon blanc and sauvignon musque. " (02/2020) Wine Enthusiast: "Reductive and grassy, this white is weighty and full on the palate, exhibiting strong flavors of green olive, dried herb and Meyer lemon. Aged for seven months in French oak, only 10% of it new, the wood is subtle and supportive. (VB)" (03/2020) Wine Spectator: "Grapefruit and lime flavors are vibrant and mouthwatering, set on a ...

94 points Decanter: "This wine has a lovely complexity with balance and lift and does that thing where it waits for a heartbeat, then makes you wait for a heartbeat, before releasing its stone fruit and succulent, slate-tinged citrus. The plots are on the west side of the appellation, often 1.5oC lower than at main Lynch Bages, with more limestone in the subsoils helping keep the balance that is evident here. (JA)" (04/2019) 90-93 points Wine Spectator: "A lively thyme note pierces the core of white peach and white asparagus flavors. Offers a racy edge...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Another stellar wine from this quality-driven producer and an excellent vintage, the bang-for-buck factor delivers extra strong here. Think Pouilly Fumé-meets-Marlborough. Notes of soft gunflint and seashell tuck beneath bright citrus and stone fruit, grass and dried green herbs. The palate strikes a lovely balance between texture and zingy acidity. Flinty, mineral nuances run beside juicy citrus right to the long finish. This may be less ageworthy than Henri’s upper tier Sauvignon, but it’s utterly delicious drinking right n...

The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. The flavors are bright with lime, mineral, passion fruit, and that wonderful chalkiness one wants from a Sancerre. This wine over delivers and pairs beautifully with oily seafood dishes and of course, your favorite cheeses.

While Didier Dagueneau, the "wild man of Pouilly," is no longer with us (sadly, he died in a plane crash in 2008) his legacy lives on at the domaine he built, which is now run by his son, Louis-Benjamin. Produced from vines averaging 15-50 years of age, planted high on the slopes of St-Andelain in vineyards that boast large proportions of Silex. Aged in 450 and 600-liter barrels, as well as some of the famed "cigar" barrels that Didier designed. This is the estate's Grand Cru, a long-lived wine that is famous for drinking rather austerely in its youth, b...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc is deep and subtle on the flinty nose, with ripe, tropical fruit aromas (mango, papaya and green pepper) intertwined with attractive smoked speck and crushed stone notes. Concentrated and compact on the palate, this is a pretty intense yet straight and well-structured Sauvignon with a still-youthful, racy-piquant and salty finish. Tasted in March and May 2019. Drink 2020 - 2032. (SR) " (10/2019) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine's green pear scent has an earthy tang. The pal...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Crisp, mouthwatering Key lime, passion fruit and orange blossom notes are fresh and fragrant, showing brightness and elegance. Details of fresh ginger and lemon verbena linger on the finish. (MW)" (08/2020)

In the better grocery stores of Sonoma County, the wines of Balletto Vineyards are local favorites. This Russian River Valley winery is mainly a grape-growing operation, providing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, with Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel, among a few other grapes, to wine producers with much higher, nationwide name recognition. But while Balletto keeps their prices quite reasonable for the home market, the quality is also quite high from their home winery, on the "banks" of the Laguna de Santa Rosa in the southern Russian River Valley region. Take a cue...

Pascal Gitton is the current scion at the helm of Domaine Gitton. The estate began life as a 1.5-hectare parcel near Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre that his grandmother farmed in addition to running a bistro and épicerie. From these beginnings, the total of the family’s various holdings is now close to 33 hectares. They specialize in silex (flint) soils which make up about 50% of their total holdings. Les Fredins is all from said silex showing the vibrancy that soil imparts. Notes of citrus, gooseberry and crackling minerality define the rich palate.

2018 Quivira "Fig Tree Vineyard" Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Top Pick!
93 points Wine Spectator: "Verbena, beeswax and matcha green tea notes give way to a succulent, polished core of lemon curd, lanolin and quince flavors. Powerfully intense and focused, but the mouthwatering acidity keeps the flavors vivid, fresh and light-footed. (MW)" (04/2020) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "From certified-organic grapes fermented in both stainless steel and neutral oak, this lovely and balanced wine tastes of peaches, white flowers and stones. Fresh, high toned and grassy, it lingers in both acidity and dried herb, impressing in both le...

A Sauvignon Blanc and Timorasso blend, this wine is fermented in stainless steel. A classic expression of Monferrato.

Winemaker's Notes: "White peaches, nectarines and mandarin zest are the first hints on the nose. The acidity and sweetness on the palate are in perfect balance. This wine is mouth-watering and leaves one craving for fresh oysters, sourdough baguettes, aged gouda, a sandy beach and a setting sun. Cheers!"

David Schildknecht writes: "Didier Dagueneau’s son Louis-Benjamin (whose name now appears on the label) is in charge of the domaine that his recently-deceased and much-lamented father brought to such notoriety. Benjamin Dagueneau - whose intense focus is obvious - has been working alongside his father for several years, and the crew here - one person each for the estate’s 11 hectares (27 acres) - are no doubt exceptionally capable of carrying on." *Biodynamic*

93 points James Suckling: "The varietal sauvignon aromas of pomelo, gooseberries and guava peel are evident straight away, and they are juxtaposed expertly with undertones of apricot pie and pie crust. Full-to medium-bodied and very textured, it can still confidently deliver driven acidity and lemony freshness." (07/2019) 91 points Vinous: "Straw-green with golden tinges. Clean, fresh aromas of gooseberry, lime and guava strike me as less pungent and penetrating than in past vintages (no doubt due to the hot 2017 vintage). Rich and multilayered, with g...

Nestled in the village of Verdigny, Domain Tabordet is run by brothers Yvon and Pascal Tabordet, who took the reins back in 1981. When the two brothers first took over the estate it consisted of three hectares (7.4 acres) in Sancerre. By 1988 they had added another 4.5 hectares of Sancerre and also added 12 hectares (29.7 acres) in neighboring Pouilly-Fumé, just across the Loire River. Wine growing in Pouilly-Fumé dates back to the fifth century when the Romans dominated the area. In 1937, it became an official Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) of Fr...

There is perhaps no better match for a dozen oysters than minerally Sancerre from one of the best producers in the region. This release is always a cut above textbook Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, with bright acidity, smoke, citrus and grassiness. Hippolyte Reverdy's family has been making wine in the charming village of Verdigny, a commune of Sancerre in the eastern Loire, for many generations--perhaps as far back as 1600. Traditional in nature, the farm was planted to multiple crops, and the Reverdys raised goats and made small quantities of wine from ...

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Michael Scholz and his team grow some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in Napa Valley at Dollarhide Ranch, St. Supéry’s estate in the eastern hills. The long, cool harvest season allowed the fruit for this wine to ripen into a brisk, gentle, mouthwatering flavor of green lime and agave. It’s the best vintage of the wine we’ve tasted, on par with some of the exceptional releases of the Dollarhide Estate Vineyard bottling (that one being a block selection that sees some oak; this one is fermented entirely in stainless steel). Well wor...

Winemaker's Notes: "Made in a Sancerre style, this cool climate Sauvignon Blanc retains tremendous acidity due to the high elevation growing, balanced by aromas of fresh lemon and lime zest and refreshing fruit. Powered by exotic melon, pink grapefruit, and wet stone, it is racy throughout. The acidity plays out on the edges of the palate as clean and concise, while accenting it's inherent minerality and clean finish."

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Philippe Melka makes this perennial stunner for Robin Daniel Lail, the U.S. representative to the Porto Protocol for climate action. It opens in a white flower aroma, with a palate reminiscent of lemon peel and wet stone. Balanced in weight, it is graceful, complex and lengthy in sumptuous flavors of pear and peach. The grapes were sourced from vineyards in Yountville and Coombsville. (VB)" (08/2020) 92 points James Suckling: "A tangy, fruity white with dried-peach, apricot, melon and candied-apple character. Some honeysuckl...

Winery notes: Inaugural vintage of the new venture by Jeff Nelson, James Sparks, and Brian Evans. Barrel-aged for 10 months with batonage throughout. Notes of preserved lemon, wet stone, and fresh thyme leap out of the glass. Soft and round, but with the racy acid profile one should expect from this varietal and producer.
Price: $21.99

94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is a very pretty and expressive wine that captures striking varietal character and textural richness, with pretty tropical overtones from the Sauvignon Musqué clone in the blend. Racy, inviting and flat-out delicious, the 2018 is a real winner. In this vintage, the Sauvignon has a bit more weight and texture while retaining its classic sense of brightness. This is such a gorgeous white. (AG)" (01/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc strides boldly out of the glass with note...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Alto Adige Terlano Sauvignon Winkl opens to a luminous and reflective appearance. Varietal aromas of tangerine and citrus fruit are there, but the wine feels a bit heavy and one-dimensional overall, especially compared to the vivid and expressive vintages of the recent past. Salty mineral tones add a touch of elegance. This is one of Cantina Terlano's largest-production wines with 240,000 bottles released. (ML)" (09/2020)

95 points Bob Campbell: "Impressive Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, lime sherbet dab and capsicum plus a subtle passionfruit influence. An ethereal, aromatic wine with impressive purity. Fruit sweetness is balanced by refreshing and fruity acidity" (09/2019) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant and expressive, with bold Key lime, passion fruit and tangerine flavors that are succulent and show off details of litsea, lemon verbena and makrut lime leaf, accented by a vibrant thread of acidity. (MW)" (02/2020) 91 points James Suckling: "Plenty of tropical...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tight rounded richness meets moderate acidity and biting layers of crisp green apple and fig in this well-made, expressive white. It shows a deft hand of balance and weight. (VB)" (10/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Lanolin and spice details add a savory element to the delicate lemon curd, mandarin orange and lime sherbet flavors, finding harmony and a juicy thread of acidity on the finish. (MW, Web-2019)" K&L Notes: Pahlmeyer havested their Sauvignon Blanc between mid-August and mid-September to cap an excellent 2018 grow...

93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Sybarite opens with a rush of citrus, floral and tomato leaf aromatics that lead into beautifully sculpted orchard fruit flavors. Here, too, Doug Margerum balances vivacity with depth. The Sybarite offers plenty of Sauvignon aromatics without veering into the green/grassy end of the spectrum. (AG)" (08/2020) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very light in the glass, this always reliable white wine starts with aromas of pear soda, red apple and slightly tropical white and green flowers. The texture is taut and dry,...

Frog's Leap is one of Napa Valley's original leaders in organic farming, also dry farming their Rutherford estate. Winery note: "Dubbed a 'Prince of a Wine' by the New York Times in 1982, this wine set a course that hasn't veered much from its original ideals. Today this wine is still made from 100 percent Sauvignon Blanc grapes and done so in such a way that the alcohol is kept low, the acidity high, and the flavors crisp and refreshing. In fact, the only changes we've made along the way have been in pursuit of a noble quest: to make a Sauvignon Blanc t...

Founded by San Francisco architect William Turnbull and partner Reverdy Johnson in 1979, Turnbull Wine Estates is now owned by Patrick O'Dell who produces wines from the original Oakville property and other estate vineyards. Winery note: "The grapes for our Sauvignon Blanc come from our Turnbull Home Vineyard, located right behind our historic cellar, and our famed Fortuna Vineyard, situated upon the Oakville alluvial fan, which contributes unparalleled textural pleasure and vibrant fruit nuance. Tropical lychee, guava, and honeydew melon draw the nose i...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended with 7% Sémillon, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Alexander Valley opens youthfully shy to gooseberry, lychee, lime, bruised apple and candle smoke with a crushed stone streak. It's medium-bodied, rounded and with restrained fruits, finishing with bright acidity, lots of crushed rock minerality and texture. This is similar to white Bordeaux, and I'd be curious to see it with a couple of years of bottle age. (EB)" (12/2019) 90 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Alexander Valley (89% Sauvignon Blanc, ...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended with 16% Sémillon, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc gives scents of waxed lemons, citron and lime leaves with touches of honeysuckle and wild thyme. The palate is medium-bodied with good intensity of citrusy flavors, crisp acidity and loads of zip in the finish. (LPB)" (11/2019)

This 100% Sauvignon Blanc, though lightly macerated on the skins for about a week, bares little resemblance to the other more skin contacted wines from Kabaj. This is more reminiscent of the Friulian styles of Sauvignon Blanc from across the nearby Italian border. A distinctive and unique look at Sauvignon Blanc.

About this producer: "With a shared vision, Gavin Newsom, Gordon Getty and John Conover imagined the addition of a complementary estate vineyard to the valley floor terroir of their Oakville estate at PlumpJack Estate Winery. In 2005, that dream came to fruition in the form of a 54-acre estate, elevated high above the fog line, on the dramatic slopes of Howell Mountain – it would become CADE Estate Winery."
Price: $31.95

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The first vintage of Sauvignon Blanc from this producer is a complex and lively white wine to balance their rich red portfolio. Aromas of jalapeño, green herbs and wet cement meet with nectarine on the nose, while the zesty palate combines bell pepper, lime peel, peach and tropical fruit. *Editors’ Choice* (MK)" (07/2019)
Price: $14.95

Winemaker's Notes: "One of the most coastal vineyards in the AVA, Presqu’ile takes meticulous care of their vines. As one of the closer Sauvignon Blanc plantings in Santa Barbara to the Pacific, it’s always loaded with acid and vibrant aromatics. Lean, citric and herbal-and in 2018, some tropicality from the long hang time in this cold vintage. It’s not your typical California Sauvignon Blanc. There are two goals with Metrick. First, to make fresh and elegant wines that represent their vineyard origins. Second, to test techniques and theories on ho...

94 points James Halliday: "Strikingly intense aromas of passion fruit and limes, as well as mangoes. The palate has a vibrant, dry lemon core with a zippy, crisp grapefruit finish." (08/2020)
Price: $12.99

90 points James Suckling: "A white with sliced-apple and fennel character. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish." (11/2019)
Price: $16.99

Winemaker's notes: "Vibrant aromatics flash a heady mix of grapefruit, lemongrass, and flint. Succulent acidity focuses the fresh mid-palate and exhibits a bright combination of pineapple, honeydew melon, and lime. The zesty finish lingers with elements of mineral, passionfruit, and pear."
Price: $14.99

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County contains 4% Sémillon and opens with loads of stone fruits: white and yellow peaches, apricot and quince, with wet stone, gooseberry, cut grass, lime pith and an underlying spicy layer. The palate is light to medium-bodied, gregarious and energetic—full of flavor and with tangy acidity to lift the long, mineral-driven finish. I love the bright personality of this wine! 22,100 cases produced. (EB)"
Price: $14.99

Winemaker's Notes: "Fermented and aged in 100% Concrete, the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is a unique iteration of Calfornia Sauvy with an old world twist. This wine reminds me of roadside fruit stands in Georgia in July; sweet aromas of yellow peaches and lime. Bright flavors of pink grapefruit with a little bit of under ripe cantaloupe, and the briny taste of oceanside air. "
Price: $19.95

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a delightfully bright, light and refreshing wine, grassy and herbal within a context of textured grapefruit and lime. It's lovely and complex with a persistence of acidity. (VB)" (11/2019)
