95 points Wine & Spirits: "If you've never been blown away by a California sauvignon blanc, you owe it to yourself to taste this wine. Over half of the fruit comes from an old vineyard that Joe Rochioli, Jr., planted in 1959; it's now farmed by his son Tom. Old vines, as well as the sunny, temperate climate and stony soil along the banks of the Russian River, drew the fruit to a precise, focused intensity in 2016. You'll find ripe, luscious flavors of papaya and peach -even redder tones of wild strawberry- tied to a profound sense of mineral depth. For a...

Connoisseurs Guide: "Smelling of fresh, fully ripe white melons with sweetening accents of Meyer lemons and showing a nicely measured complement of the variety's tell-tale grassiness that always plays support to fruit, this slightly rounded, medium-full-bodied effort is a bit fuller and richer than most, and, as such, it is a Sauvignon Blanc that will find particularly fine affinity to meaty fish and chicken recipes that themselves are a little more flavorful and richer in character. *Good Value*" (01/2020) Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Alexan...

Winemaker's Notes: "Made in a Sancerre style, this cool climate Sauvignon Blanc retains tremendous acidity due to the high elevation growing, balanced by aromas of fresh lemon and lime zest and refreshing fruit. Powered by exotic melon, pink grapefruit, and wet stone, it is racy throughout. The acidity plays out on the edges of the palate as clean and concise, while accenting it's inherent minerality and clean finish."

Winemaker's notes: "Vibrant aromatics flash a heady mix of grapefruit, lemongrass, and flint. Succulent acidity focuses the fresh mid-palate and exhibits a bright combination of pineapple, honeydew melon, and lime. The zesty finish lingers with elements of mineral, passionfruit, and pear."

The Rochioli family has been growing grapes on its 136-acre ranch since the 1930s. In 1984, Tom Rochioli created the first wines to be produced under the Rochioli name. The 9,000-case winery produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Robert Parker, after his 2014 visit, said of the estate: "This enviable iconic winery in the heart of the Russian River Valley, on Westside Road, has a long, justifiable and hard-earned reputation for impeccable quality as well as grape growing. It is always a thrill to taste the wines from Tom Rochioli."

Antonio Galloni writes: "The wines from Cep Vineyards, Peay's second label, reliably deliver solid quality and value."

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended with a smaller portion of Muscat, the 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Blank Stare gives up compelling notes of spiced pears, ripe peaches, green apples and dill seed with a waft of aniseed. Medium-bodied and satiny, with a lovely line of freshness, it finishes long and lively. (LPB)" (01/2019)
