2008 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2008 Cristal is a perfect wine, and Champagne simple does not get any better. This incredible wine offers a beautiful perfume of clean, crisp fruits, layers of complexity in its toasted spice and white flowers, and an utterly seamless, yet powerful style on the palate. This is a rich, decadent expression of Cristal yet it’s still crystalline and elegant, with no sensation of weight, and it just glides over the palate. Haut Couture at its finest and this majestic, profound, legendary Cristal can be drunk anytime over the comin ...

2008 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2008 Dom Pérignon is the first time the estate has released a wine out of order (the 2009 was released before the 2008) but the estate loved the wine so much they felt it warranted additional aging. This is a rich, powerful wine that still shows incredible purity and elegance, with a stacked, concentrated feel on the palate. It’s rare to find such a mix of ripe, pure, concentrated fruit paired with this level of purity, focus, and precision. This is a legendary Dom that surpasses all the great vintages of Dom I have experience ...

2005 York Creek Estate "Horseshoe Block" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker's Notes: "At York Creek we have a small block of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted entirely to the legendary "La Questra" clone of Cabernet. This clone was brought to California by Emmet Rixford back in the 1880s directly from Chateau Margaux in Bordeaux. It is one of the most highly sought after "heritage" clones of Cabernet Sauvignon in the state. We call this block the "Horseshoe" because of its shape. For several years, I have made a separate fermentation, and because of its unique character I decided to bottle a little as a separate wine. It's 1 ...

The wine has impressive fruit on the attack, medium to full body, and a broad, savory, dense style with good definition and purity. 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The citrus, almost golden colored 2012 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Pur Oger is sourced from two specific vineyards in Oger (Les Noyerots and Les Rumigny) that were harvested on September 15th, exactly a week earlier than the corresponding three plots for Pur Avize. The wine displays a deep, rich, tropical yet more aristocratic and mineral bouquet of intense brioche and nougat aromas as well as ethereal, refreshing lemon and limestone notes. 1997 York Creek "Meritage" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)

This elegant, balanced claret from an outstanding vintage has been perfectly aged in York Creek's cellars. The nose offers compelling scents of cherry liquor, cedar and damp earth. The body of the wine is seamless with flavors of black cherry, dark plum and currant all deftly balanced. This is very fresh and alive with an overall sense of finesse and proportion, and a subtle but persistent finish showing very fine tannins. (07/2017) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine comes from one of the coolest Premier Cru vineyards, giving it an initial austerity that then fills out as the wine breathes. The palate is fresh on the entry with bitter lemon, Granny Smith apples and a keen line of acidity. 2005 Angélus, St-Emilion

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2005 Angelus is as good as it gets, and despite having 2-3 decades of prime drinking ahead of it, is as profound a drinking experience as money can buy even today. Offering off the hook notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, blackberries, toasted spice, espresso and scorched earth, this beauty is unctuous and opulent on the palate, with incredible depth, yet never seems heavy, cumbersome or over the top. It has more depth and concentration than the 1990 (and I suspect any vintage in the 1990s or 2000s) and will keep for anothe ...

Deep purple-colored, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and just about off the charts in terms of scale and density, it nevertheless just glides across the palate with an ethereal, seamless texture that never seems heavy or cumbersome. Elisabeth Goutorbe and her husband Jean-Marie Egrot run their tiny production Champagne house almost entirely by themselves. They get very little help from their cat Maurice, but can rely on Elisabeth’s father, René Goutorbe of Champagne Henri Goutorbe for a little bit of help. This little-known property makes super-value, old-school wines.
