Distilled and aged in Tennessee and Kentucky in 10 to 14-year-old American oak barrels, the mash bill is corn, rye and malted barley. 106.7 proof cask strength at bottling. Gold (Bourbon > 6 Year Category) @ Whiskies of the World Awards (2019). Notes from the Bottler: "FLAVOR NOTES: Sweet but not excessively oaky, this bourbon opens fruity and softly spiced while a floral side builds over time. Its flavor is focused but complex, with notes of Oolong tea and forest floor leading to a finish of punchy fruits and racy minerality. Neat Appearance: Light ambe...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Nice bouquet that includes defined aromas of buttered corn-on-the-cob, sawdust, freshly sawed pine, cedar, baking spices and dried fruit. Entry is vividly spirited and potent but not harsh or overpowering; the midpalate highlights corn meal, breakfast cereal, orange rind, dark chocolate and toffee. Sophisticated, yet powerful and assertive. *Best Buy*" (12/2008) K&L Notes: The classic Jim Beam expression - big spice, lots of cinnamon and clove notes, with great richness cutting through the high proof.

Outrageously delicious. Perhaps the most unique bourbon on our shelf. This bourbon undergoes a unique process to combine two of the best things this earth has to offer. Real bourbon is infused with real bacon and then the fat is stripped out, leaving behind just the essence of your favorite meat wrapped in the soft caramel, candied, and wooded flavors of scrumptiously smooth bourbon.

Whisky Advocate: "The most aggressive of the bunch, with the wood playing a dominant role. Toffee, rummy molasses, roasted nuts, barrel char, leather, tobacco, and a wisp of smoke. (JH, Spring 2012) " Wine Enthusiast: "Despite a mild aroma, this whiskey offers bold caramel, vanilla and maple on the palate, with soft, creamy mouthfeel. Water opens up the aroma a little, disclosing a bit more vanilla. Sip or mix. (KN)" (04/2015)

This is a PX sherry cask finish wheated bourbon from our friends at Wyoming Whiskey. This limited edition release spends 5 years in traditional American oak before being finished for less than a year in sweet sherry casks.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This luxurious Bourbon shows layered and dense flavors that run to the darker and drier side: cocoa, espresso, clove and allspice, all wrapped in beautiful caramel and butterscotch aromatics. At 100 proof, the alcohol deservedly feels intense, so best to temper this with a bit of branch-water or ice. *Top 50 Spirits 2013 & Best Buy* (KN)" (07/2013)

Yellowstone has been reborn. The new distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky is up and running with is craft sized production of 1 barrel a day - a capacity of just 40,000 proof gallons a year. 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Finished in the barrel with specially seared oak staves, this bourbon is a new classic. In the glass, it sports a bright maple color, and lively, spicy aromas and flavors of oaky vanilla and tropical fruit touched with clove, ginger and allspice. (KN)" (07/2013) 90 points Whisky Advocate: "This is original 'red wax' Maker's Mark that received additional aging in barrels containing internal 'seared' French oak staves. The original Maker's Mark, being a wheated bourbon (instead of rye, which is typically used), is rather mello...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aged for eight years--twice as long as regular Jim Beam--this Bourbon offers rich caramel aroma and flavor. Though it's a little fiery from the first sip, moderating the heat with water brings out a saline lick that makes for a salted caramel impression, fading to vanilla on the long finish. *Best Buy* (KN)" (07/2015)

An incredible story of heroism underlies the American Freedom "Horse Soldier" Whiskies. The first 12 men into Afghanistan, some of America's most elite special forces, after 9/11 began the fight against the Taliban atop horses in the rugged terrain. While all 12 of those men survived their inital tour, some gave their life in service of our country on subsequent missions. Those that came home, after leaving the military many years later, began the American Freedom Distillery. The numerous ways in which this project harkens back to 9/11 and the sacrifice ...

Another great achievment in blending from Barrell. The Dovetail is a combination of 10 year old Indiana whiskey that has been finished in Dunn Vineyards Napa Cabernet barrels blended with 11 year old bourbon from Tennessee finished in black strap rum casks and LBV Port pipes. Producer note: "Opens with mature aromas both sweet (canelé, panna cotta, crème de noyaux) and savory (walnut oil, leather). This is followed quickly by a vast array of fruit derived both from the spirit (smoked apricot, grapefruit peel) as well as the cask treatment (sloe gin, dams...

Founded in 2010 by Adam Spiegel, the Sonoma Distilling Co. has been committed to producing craft whiskey from 100% local, non-GMO grains for almost a decade. Their tiny, direct fire (until recently) stills produce a fine, complex spirit that's delicious even in its youth. But as the spirit has aged and the distillery's branding matured along with it, we're realizing that this little front runner is making some pretty serious whiskey. Using 30 and 53 gallons barrels aged in Sonoma's complex climate, the average age increase on this product has allowed it ...

90 points Whisky Advocate: "There’s personality galore in this blend of 10 year old Indiana whiskey finished in cabernet sauvignon casks and 11 year old Tennessee bourbon finished in rum casks and port pipes. Caramel, honeycomb candy, See’s molasses chips, peanuts, graham crackers, cola, mature oak, and a little dill on the nose. The palate is chewy, with dried cherries, grape soda, root beer candy, roasted walnuts, dark chocolate, black pepper, ginger, graham cracker, cinnamon cookie, and lush leathery oak. Good development, if you have the patience to ...

Whisky Advocate: "Some bourbons are balanced or complex; this is an all-around versatile pour with initial notes of lightly toasted oak, brown sugar, and butterscotch. A fun maltiness, concentrated caramel, and slight hints of cinnamon and watermelon Juicy Fruit hammer home its sipping potential, but its short to medium finish suggests that it’s more suited for cocktails. But hey, why not both? (FM, Fall 2017)" Wine Enthusiast: "The opening aroma is grainy and corn-like, with background touches of paraffin and walnut butter; aeration stimulates green pe...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This bold and flavorful sipping whiskey is made from New York State-grown malt smoked for eight hours over Scottish peat (an 18-hour version is in the works too). Bold smoky-sweet campfire notes lead into toffee, chocolate and espresso before drying to a gentle exhale of smoke. -KN " (07/2015) K&L Notes: The Hillrock Estate is one of the Hudson Valley's most exciting craft distillers. They've work tirelessly to over the last several years to offer something not only totally different, but also significantly better than almos...

Whisky Advocate: "Broad, earthy undercurrents of cigar wrapper, dark fertile soil, and spice support the honeyed sweetness and vanilla of this big-screen bourbon. Overall, the sweetness is well-tempered by cedar humidor, tea leaf, root beer spice, and berry fruit combining seamlessly on the palate. Well-balanced and easy sipping. Best neat. (JL, Spring 2019)"
Price: $49.99

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The base aroma is buttered corn-on-the-cob with aeration bringing additional scents of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate entry showcases sweet breakfast cereal grain; at midpalate the corn dominates so thoroughly that you know that this could only be one of the best straight bourbons from Kentucky. Ends spirity and heated. One of America's benchmark spirits. *Best Buy*" (12/2007) Whisky Advocate: "The original Maker’s Mark, tried and true, and the same since the 1950s. The nose is consistent with a flare on the floral, toffee...

Whisky Advocate: "Oak-driven and tightly wound, with herbal licorice, beeswax, and dried peaches. There is a real outdoorsy quality here of forest floor, autumn leaves, and cut grass. But it feels somewhat tired and weary on the palate, then falls apart with the addition of water. Grab the older bottling (50% ABV). This release has dropped in both proof and quality. (JL, Fall 2018)"

From Whiskey Consensus: "Heigold is Rabbit Hole’s take on a High Rye Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. It has a mashbill of 70% corn, 25% Malted Rye, and 5% Malted Barley. This whiskey entered the barrel at 110 proof, which is lower than most distilleries entry proof. Heigold is aged for a minimum of 3 years in level 3 charred barrels."
Price: $64.99

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This tawny Bourbon has a rich, spiced scent reminiscent of fruitcake. On the palate, look for caramel studded with dried cherry, orange peel and clove, finishing quite dry. A great profile for classic cocktails, and not too precious to mix. (KN)" (09/2014)

95 points from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. The Old Bardstown Estate is one of KBD's premium offerings and bottled at 101 proof. It's a high corn recipe, so less spice and more round rich flavors than some of KBD's other high-end offerings. For all those missing Black Maple Hill's juice, this might be a solid substitute.

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delicious but fiery, this nine-year-old small-batch Bourbon offers deep toffee aromatics and bold flavor. On the palate, look for relatively dry flavors: leather, cedar, dried orange peel. A splash of water softens the profile to bring out more vanilla, honey, even a touch of chocolate. (KN)" (09/2014) 90 points Whisky Advocate: "Knob was one of the first bourbons I had when I started taking whiskey seriously, and it’s still a kicker. No-nonsense, flint-hard nose: slickly-polished oak furniture, cinnamon stick, cracked rye, ...

90 points Whisky Advocate: "Initially it’s a nut-filled experience with toasted walnuts, pecans, and Brazil nuts, but an atypical spice appears that’s just lovely. Smoked hatch chiles mingle with rounded notes of cinnamon, créme brûlée, Bananas Foster, orange, canned peaches, caramel chew, and toffee. The pepper spices reappear for a grand finish. (FM, Summer 2018)" Wine Enthusiast: "The first couple of sniffings detect attractive, dry scents of leather and black pepper; aeration encourages sweeter, woodier aromas to emerge. The palate entry is sap- and...

Whisky Advocate: "Corn pudding and ryespice nose, very plain-spoken, with just the barest hint of berries. Flavors of light custard, corn, rye, brown sugar, light maple, and vanilla ignite a fiery wash across the tongue, with a fairly hot finish. This is a delicate and subtle bourbon, one that would be lost if mixed with something too big, but rewarding when enjoyed neat. Nicely done. " K&L Notes: Colorado's mad brothers have finally launched what should be one of the most anticipated whiskies of the year. A fantastically light and playful corn-based s...

Heaven Hill's flagship single barrel remains one of the best values in American whiskey, period. Each cask is different, but the general profile for EWSB is all about balance. A strong fruity note and a rich vanilla undertone, balance the rich honey notes and spicy backbone on the palate. This is a medium bodied highly drinkable whiskey with tons of finesse and character. We're on the 2011 vintage here.

The wonderful Wyoming Whiskey has finally arrived and stands out as one of the best values in craft whiskey on the market today. This is truly old school Kentucky style wheated bourbon that just happens to be made in Wyoming. They even went so far as to bring former Maker's Mark Master Distiller Steve Nally to Kirby, WY to set up the operation. The biggest difference between Steve's KY and WY Whiskey production is the use of local grain and the temperature of the warehouses. Wyoming has greater diurnal fluctuations during the spring and summer months, wh...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Initial scents are floral and wheat cracker-like; aeration adds deeper, mildly sweet aromas of sap, fresh vanilla bean and light honey. Palate entry is finely balanced with wood, moderately sweet grain and acidity; by midpalate the alcohol warms the throat with off-dry flavors of charred oak, light toffee and sap. Finishes elegant and warm. A true sipping whiskey." (12/2005) K&L Notes: Heaven Hill's father and son Master Distillers team of Parker and Craig Beam developed the wheat formula for this whiskey using a minimum ...

Nine Banded Small Batch was born in Austin and draws its inspiration from the creative spirit of that special city. Only this place can bring together hippies, hipsters, rednecks, and cowboys around their shared love of great music and good times. The name is a nod to Armadillo World Headquarters, the 1970s music venue famous for being the birthplace of Austin's eclectic, communal culture and avant-garde music scene. The armadillo, a nocturnal creature native to Texas, represents the bottlers mantra, "Roam All Night." Nine Banded Whisky is all about the ...

Whisky Advocate: "Redolent of marshmallow and vanilla, this is restrained on the nose, but revels in pretty sweetness, with peaches and cream, ripe banana, and circus peanuts candies. On the palate, this collaboration with actor Matthew McConaughey betrays some of its Wild Turkey pedigree, capturing the house earthiness. For its modest proof, it pours a bit hot on the palate, with plenty of oak tannins, making it a nice sipper on the rocks or with water. Value pick. (JL, Fall 2018)"

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Look for a mild aroma that marries honey and oak. The palate leads with oak, then toasty vanilla and dried apricot, with a long, warming, peppery finish. Adding water brings out softer honey and chamomile notes. Music-lovers take note: this brand was developed in collaboration with Bob Dylan. (KN)" (07/2019) K&L Notes: Special Order Only!
