2016 Carlisle "Palisades Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Sirah

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One hundred percent Petite Sirah from vines planted in 1968, the 2016 Petite Sirah Palisade Vineyard is very deep purple-black in color with very pretty notes of lilacs, black and red cherries, mulberries and sandalwood with hints of menthol and fragrant earth. Full-bodied, refreshing and elegant, it has a gorgeous texture of firm, fine-grained tannins and tons of perfumed black fruit layers, finishing long and minerally. (LPB)" (06/2018) 92-95 points Vinous: "The 2016 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard is one of ...Read More »

2016 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard is the most perfumed and elegant of Turley's Petite Syrahs (they don't spell it "Sirah") this year, unfurling in the glass with a pure and fragrant bouquet of cassis, dark plums, rose petals and pencil lead. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a deep core of vibrant, juicy fruit, satiny but abundant tannins and a long finish. It's an exceptional wine from a singular vineyard. (WK)" (09/2018) 93-96 points Vinous: "The 2016 Petite Syrah H ...Read More »

2016 Ridge Vineyards "Lytton Estate" Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah

94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Petite Syrah Lytton Springs is another fabulous wine in this range. Dense and powerful, the 2016 is endowed with striking depth and tons of character. The Petite tannins are nicely tamed in a wine that offers superb quality and pedigree. Crème de cassis, graphite, lavender and mint are front and center. The 2016 remains quite primary though, so readers need to be patient. (AG) 94+" (08/2018) Wine Spectator: "The 2016 Petite Sirah Lytton Estate reveals aromas of crushed currants, currant leaf and raspberries, framed by new oa ...Read More »

2016 Carlisle Sonoma County Petite Sirah

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The base 2016 Petite Sirah (there's 8% Syrah in the blend) is a serious mouthful of a wine. Black fruits, chocolate, scorched earth and charcoal notes all give way to a big, rich, opulent effort that has plenty of building tannin. I suspect it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years." (06/2018) 90-93 points Vinous: "The 2016 Petite Sirah (Sonoma County) is one of the "Don't Miss" wines in this brilliant range from Carlisle. Inky, deep and pliant, the 2016 is full of Petite character, with notable fru ...Read More »

2014 Le P'tit Paysan Monterey County Petite Sirah (Previously $18)

Wine Enthusiast: "Dried herbs, elderberries, peppercorns and a strong streak of gamy meat show on the nose of this bottling, which is less dense and more nuanced in style than many other Petite Sirahs. The gamy element extends to the palate, giving complexity to the black fruits and sticky tannins. (MK)" (06/2018)

2014 Sean Thackrey "Sirius-Eaglepoint Ranch" Mendocino County Petite Sirah

Sean Thackrey is a Marin County based winemaker who has been doing it his way and to great success since 1980. Praise from Robert Parker: "One of California's most iconic and mystical winemakers, Sean Thackrey has logged in 20 or more vintages of consistently stunning wines that perhaps say it all with the simple quote on his label: -Sean A. Thackrey, Vintner, Bolinas, California."

2015 Aaron Wines Paso Robles Petite Sirah

93 points Vinous: "Bright purple. Smoke-tinged cherry and blueberry compote aromas show excellent clarity, and a mocha element sneaks in as the wine stretches out. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, offering densely packed yet lively red and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors and a hint of five-spice powder. Shows impressive energy on the broad, chewy finish, which is firmed by building tannins and sharpened by a late jolt of juicy acidity. (JR)" (09/2018) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The inky colored 2015 Petite Sirah offers classic sweet black and plum fr ...Read More »

2004 JC Cellars "Frediani Vineyard" Petite Syrah, Napa Valley Back In Stock!
2004 JC Cellars "Frediani Vineyard" Petite Syrah, Napa Valley

93 points Robert Parker: "Cohn consistently does a great job with Petite Syrah (note this winery spells it Syrah, not Sirah) and his 2004 Frediani Vineyard cuvee (100% Petite Sirah) exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to sweet aromas of blueberries, crushed rocks, and white flowers. Powerful, concentrated, and amazingly intense as well as rich, it should easily evolve for two decades or more. This grape remains the most underrated high quality varietal in California, especially for longevity. Kudos to Jeff Cohn for another brilliant line-up. ...Read More »

2010 Eighty Four Napa Valley Petite Sirah

94 points Wine Spectator: "This is dark, bold and highly aromatic, yet retains a sense of restraint and grace. Sandalwood, white pepper, dried lavender and rosemary give in to ripe, juicy huckleberry and blueberry flavors. The tannins are both mouthfilling and plush. The finish just goes on and on. Drink now through 2030. (MW)" (12/2015) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is big boisterous wine from Elias Fernandez and Doug Shafer that has been given some nice time in bottle after four years in new French oak. It's a viscous, black-as-night kind of exper ...Read More »

2014 Turley "Pesenti Vineyard" Paso Robles Petite Syrah

92-95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard tastes like it was drawn from tank just after fermentation. It is every bit that intense and primary. The Pesenti is the most raw and unformed wine in this extensive range. At the same time, it is incredibly compelling. (AG)" (10/2015) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Petite Syrah Pesenti Vineyard (from those white limestone soils) is quite an elixir if you love this grape. 2009 Eighty Four Napa Valley Petite Sirah

Eighty Four wines is a collaborative project between Doug Shafer of Shafer winery and his long time winemaker Elias Fernandez. The name comes from 1984 which was the inaugural vintage the two men worked on at Shafer winery together. This is an extremely small project with just 300 cases of Petite Sirah produced and 600 cases of Malbec. It's a very exciting project if you're a fan of Shafer Relentless or other Shafer wines, in which case you owe it to yourself to check out these limited-release offerings.

2015 Turley "Rattlesnake Ridge" Howell Mountain Petite Syrah

92-95 points Vinous: "The 2015 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge is the most reticent and tannic of these Petites. Then again, Rattlesnake Ridge sits at 2200 feet atop Howell Mountain, where the rugged landscape yields equally imposing wines. Readers will have to be patient with the 2015, but there is more than enough fruit and overall depth to stand up to the tannins. The light crop has accentuated everything in the wine's fruit and tannic profile." (12/2016)

1994 Turley "Hayne Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no doubt about it - as a fan of the underrated Petite Syrah, I have never tasted greater Petite Syrahs than the 1994 Aida or 1994 Hayne. Some of the extraordinary Petite Syrah produced by La Jota from the old Park-Muscatine Vineyard on Howell Mountain, and the now-discontinued Ridge Petite Syrahs from the Devil's Hill portion of York Creek Vineyard were previous benchmarks, but Turley Cellars' Petite Syrahs have set a new reference point for this varietal. 2007 Switchback Ridge "Peterson Family Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Sirah

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The monster 2007 Petite Sirah Peterson Family Vineyard is a massively concentrated, huge, tannic wine that needs a good 7-8 years of cellaring and should keep 20 years. It will be another legend for Petite Sirah, but unless you are a patient connoisseur, few people will ever get to see it at its best. 1997 Turley "Aida" Napa Valley Petite Sirah

90-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Petite Syrah Aida Vineyard (from 80-year old vines) assaults the palate with such an overload of fruit, tannin, and extract that the taster's first impression is that this is something more than table wine. It is a massive, almost uncivilized, wildly out of control Petite Syrah that will require 10-15 years of cellaring, and last for 30 or more. I have been conservative in my judgment because the tannin nearly melted the fillings in my teeth, but this is an amazing, astonishing wine that will be fasci ...Read More »

2005 Turley "Rattlesnake Ridge" Howell Mountain Petite Syrah

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Although pinched with screeching tannins, the backward, unevolved 2005 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge will repay those who have the foresight to lay it away for 10-15 years. It is loaded with potential, but is nearly impenetrable at present. (RP) 91-93+" (12/2006) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby color. Knockout nose combines black fruits, smoke, licorice, pepper and a strong rocky character. Quite suave on entry, then thick but vibrant in the middle, with powerful, well- in ...Read More »

2013 Turley "Rattlesnake Ridge" Howell Mountain Petite Syrah

96 points Vinous: "The 2013 Petite Syrah Rattlesnake Ridge shows just how compelling Petite can be up here on Howell Mountain. The bouquet alone is incredibly enticing. Graphite, blueberry jam, cloves, menthol, lavender and liquefied rocks form an incredibly appealing fabric of aromas, flavors and textures. Inky and unctuous, with exceptional textural finesse, the 2013 simply has it all. The fruit remains incredibly primary, so the 2013 is probably best cellared, but it is breathtakingly beautiful, even in its youth. (AG)" (10/2015) 95 points Wine Spec ...Read More »

2013 Turley "Library Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Syrah

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard (14.4% alcohol) exhibits a deep purple color, sweet cassis, blueberry and blackberry fruit, full body, slightly softer tannins, and more approachability than the Pesenti or Turley Estate. This is the most precocious of the Petite Syrahs but still needs 7-8 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 30-50 years. (RP)" (04/2015) 94 points Vinous: "Most accurately described as an old-school field blend, the 2013 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard is one of the most nuanced wine ...Read More »
