2011 Château Musar Rouge Bekaa Valley Lebanon

93 points Decanter: "A very wet spring in 2011 in the Bekaa Valley led to a delayed season and their second latest harvest on record. This has aromas of plum sauce and damson, varnished woods and noticeable volatile acidity – part of the style. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with tangy balsamic acidity and a savoury, leathery finish. It's just starting to drink now but will last well thanks to its dense lattice of ripe tannins. (MW)" (05/2018) Jancis Robinson: "Fairly deep ruby. A denser, more concentrated, linear nose than the 2010 served along ...

2002 Château Musar Rouge Bekaa Valley

89 points Wine Spectator: "A supple, beefy red, with a spicy snap to the mature flavors of dried berry. The minerally finish features toffee notes. Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Grenache. Drink now. (Web-2011)" Wine Enthusiast: "Sweet on the nose with aromas of cherry and strawberry preserves, the 2002 Gaston Hochar is softer and jammier on the palate than the 2000 vintage. Prolonged aeration reveals smoke, vanilla, and toast notes and lush, smooth tannins that linger elegantly. " (09/2011) K&L Notes: Though Middle-Eastern wine is somethi ...

2012 Château Musar Rosé Bekaa Valley

Château Musar is Lebanon's most famous producer. The winery does not make rosé every vintage, because the winemaker (the late Serge Hochar) sought very specific characteristics from the grapes he uses to create a fine, delicate and elegant rosé. The 2012 is composed of the indigenous Lebanese grapes Obaideh (55-65%) and Merwah (30-40%), thought to be ancestors of Chardonnay and Semillon, and a small amout of Cinsault. From the winery: "Elegant salmon pink in colour, this fragrant rosé has aromas of peaches, white fruits and flowers, basil with a hint of ...
