2012 The Mascot Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 The Mascot Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. The grapes for this wine come from younger vines on the Harlan and Bond estates and is spearheaded by Bill Harlan's son, Will. From the producer: "Although I grew up running around the winery, hand-turning de-stemmers, and eating grapes off the vines in our backyard, I never thought I’d discover my own passion in making wine. My family has been in the business longer than I’ve been around, but it was only a handful of years ago that curiosity led me beyond the event horizon of this world. It began with the experience of learning the complexities of blending wine in 2008, and progressed steadily until I found myself working in the cellar, handling barrel fermentation throughout the harvest of 2012. Made from the younger vines of Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory, The Mascot shares a unique glimpse into the evolution of our winegrowing estates. The Mascot began early on as an experiment, after talking the family an

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2013 Donelan "Obsidian Vineyard" Knights Valley Syrah (100JD, 99RP, 97VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2013 Syrah Obsidian Vineyard is an utterly perfect wine and just couldn’t get any better. Possessing a huge, singular perfume of blueberries, bacon fat, charcoal, pepper, and woodsmoke, it’s deep, layered, and multi-dimensional on the palate, with full-bodied richness, perfectly ripe tannin, perfect balance, and a finish that just won’t quit. 2004 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2004 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma/Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95WE, 94CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The two flagship wines of this brilliant estate, which straddles the Sonoma and Napa county lines at the top of Spring Mountain, include the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot). Sixty-eight percent of the fruit comes from Sonoma and 32% from Napa. It exhibits classic notes of creme de cassis, licorice, cedarwood, incense and a hint of toasty oak in the background. Full-bodied, opulent, profound deep, rich and full with velvety edges, the tannin can be detected, but it is wonderfully integrated in this mountain-styled Cabernet. It continues Pride’s impressive track record with these special cuvees. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve can be drunk young or cellared for two decades or more. More nuances and complexity will undoubtedly emerge over the next 4-5 years. (RP)" (04/2014)

2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 96VN, 94WE, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the wine of the vintage, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley is flat out sensational, and flirts with perfection. Its inky ruby/purple color is followed by incredible notes of cassis, black currants, smoked herbs, licorice and graphite. These give way to a full-bodied, utterly seamless Cabernet that has full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and a killer finish. While it possesses the elegance and purity of the vintage, it has a stacked mid-palate, and deserves 4-5 years of cellaring. It will have two decades or more of overall longevity. (JD)" (06/2016)

2013 Justin "Eighty One" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Justin "Eighty One" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1981, Justin Baldwin began a quest to make fine wines in Paso Robles based on the traditions of the winemaking region of Bordeaux. Now, with decades of experience making great wines with this varietal, they chose to name this wine "Eighty One" to honor the year they began their journey. Produced in very limited quantities, "Eighty One" is a stunning example of a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon that balances power and complexity. And, like the best California Cabernet Sauvignon, this has an ability to age beautifully.

2014 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2014 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (93RP, 90CG, 90VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The last of the appellation releases, the 2014 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was brought up in 55% new French oak, which is slightly more than the 2013. Deep, rich and earthy, with notes of bouquet garni, smoked earth, licorice and dark fruits, it has full-bodied richness, a big mid-palate and is packed with gorgeous amounts of fruit. It's a big, rich wine from this cool climate appellation, yet I suspect it will show more classic Sonoma Coast characteristics with a year or two in bottle. It's a beautiful wine. (JD)" (09/2016)

Greatness is suggested by a wonderfully sweet mid-section, gorgeous purity, and this humongous wine's overall symmetry. It also possesses sumptuous layers of concentration, remarkably sweet tannin, low acidity, and a 40+ second finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2040. (RP)" (01/2000)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a large-scaled wine, but with flamboyant marmalade, white currant, honeysuckle, and tropical fruit notes, less minerality than La Carriere, but beautiful acidity and a stony, steely personality not dissimilar to a grand cru in Burgundy such as Corton-Charlemagne. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95JS, 95RP, 95ST, 95W&S, 93VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is marked by the drought vintage, which not only made a more concentrated crop but also deprived the blend of all supporting varieties, as only Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot handled the dry conditions sufficiently gracefully to make the final cut. At age ten, this muscular Monte Bello is finally beginning to unwind, offering up rich aromas of black cherry, cassis, dried mountain laurel, loamy soil and burning embers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, expansive and powerful, its generous, sweetly fruited attack giving way to a taut, firm mid-palate that doesn't show as much finesse as the 2010 or 2012, concluding with a long, stony finish. Baugher observes that in its youth, the 2008 was "monolithic and more angular—a mouthful of tannin." A decade later, it's beginning to soften, but it still req

2014 Vice Versa "Octavius - Beckstoffer To Kalon, Las Piedras & Dr. Crane Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2014 Vice Versa "Octavius - Beckstoffer To Kalon, Las Piedras & Dr. Crane Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Patrice Breton fell in love with wine at the age of 20. Vice Versa was born in 2003 after a few years Patrice spent working alongside the influential winemaker Paul Hobbs. The hands-on education and experience he got with him went beyond skills and methodology. Says Patrice, "There is an undeniable truth in Napa Valley terroir. There is a sense of place in this valley, these hills. The vineyards we work with are first class and we don’t take our collaboration with them lightly. We feel an intense responsibility to represent their depth, history, and unmatched quality in a way that truly expresses them. Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2003 Merry Edwards "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L) (94W&S, 92CG, 91WS, 90WE). Wine & Spirits: "The Pellegrini family planted pinot noir at this old apple orchard in 1973; Merry Edwards used that fruit to build a massive wine in 2003. When first opened, it tastes vast and finely made-an earthy cake of succulent cherry and sweet oak. With air, the intensity grows only bolder with a dark herb savor. The fruit and oak meld, tasting like cherries grilled over charcoal. This is built for age, or for miso-glazed black cod." (10/2005)

Beautiful blueberry and blackberry fruit, an extraordinary equilibrium between acidity, alcohol, tannin and wood, stunning purity, a finish that goes on for close to a minute, and a dazzling palate presence from what appears to be an incredible terroir make this an amazing effort in Cabernet Sauvignon. Bursting from the glass with complex aromas of red and black fruit, burning embers, pungent violet, rich cocoa and incipient tobacco leaf, on the palate the wine is incredibly deep, concentrated and three-dimensional. Right now it's shutting down and deserves to snooze for at least a decade before it begins to unful and reveal all its magic. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (92BH, 92RP, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cocoa powder-dusted ripe black raspberry mingles with dark forest floor elements; roasted, subtly caramelized potato skins; and bloody red meat in the fascinating de Vogue 2007 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru. Caressing, rounded richness and sheer generosity characteristic for the entire vintage collection at this address by no means precludes admirable buoyancy and intriguing as well as enticing persistence that compels the next sniff and sip. This should be well worth following for at least 6-8 years, and will in that course of time doubtless more obviously distance itself from the corresponding village-level bottling. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The greatest wines Chave has produced since 2003 are the two cuvees of 2009 Hermitage. The 2009 Hermitage exhibits a black/purple color along with a sumptuous nose of roasted meats, ground pepper, black currants, blackberry jam, and subtle smoke and licorice. The extraordinary bouquet is followed by a wine of extravagant intensity as well as tremendous focus and precision. While not as powerful as the blockbuster 2003, the amazing 2009 may turn out to be a modern day version of their magnificent 1990 (which is drinking incredibly well at present). Vinous: "All the elements come together in the 2011 Blanc de Blancs Charles Heintz Vineyard, a wine of such beauty I have a hard time describing it. There are simply no parallels in California. Fermentation in barrel gives the Heintz lovely texture and voluptuousness, yet the wine is not at all heavy, it just has a hint of Vilmart-like toastiness. Most importantly, the pedigrees of this site - one of the best in Sonoma - comes through with great eloquence. Cruse also shows he has conquered what is perhaps the biggest challenge in making sparkling wine - creating an elegant mousse. It is hardly a surprise other producers seek him out for advice. Readers who can find the 2011 should not hesitate, as it is truly superb. (AG)" (02/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Louis Jadot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru ((95-98RP), 97WE, 96WS, (92-95BH), 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Black fruits are interspersed with licorice and earth in the nose of the medium to full-bodied 2002 Chambertin Clos de Beze. This concentrated, deep, noble wine is crammed with perfectly ripe fruit and tannin. Loads of blackberries, licorice, plums, black cherries, stones, and flowers can be discerned in its complex flavor profile. Its finish, described in my notes as 'completely unreal,' is exceedingly long, fruit-filled, and suave. If stored in a cold cellar, this wine would be an ideal selection for serving to a 2002 baby on his or her 21st birthday. (PR)" (06/2004)

Of the 2013 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru "Clos de la Bousse",Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d’Or has a fragrant and more floral bouquet than the Caillerets at this early stage, nicely defined with blackcurrants and wild strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, the fruit spectrum here more red with strawberry and raspberry notes, a dash of white pepper and a fine lattice of tannins on the refined finish. This is a lovely Volnay in the making: very pure and sensual. (NM)" (12/2014)

1997 Sine Qua Non "Twisted and Bent" San Luis Obispo County White Blend
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Sine Qua Non "Twisted and Bent" San Luis Obispo County White Blend (95RP, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Twisted and Bent (540 cases) is no wimpy wine. All of the fruit comes from the Alban Vineyard in San Luis Obispo. The 1997's blend is 60% Roussanne and 40% Chardonnay. This is white wine at its most concentrated. Light gold with a greenish hue, it has the unctuosity and nearly the power of chartreuse liqueur, but it is dry, full-bodied, and easy to drink in large quantities (I know). Its honeyed viscosity, and extraordinary bouquet of rose petals, buttery tropical fruits, and orange marmalade are exotic, thrilling, and altogether a treat to satiate both the intellectual and hedonistic senses. The fact that it is dry is an achievement given the degree of sugar at which these grapes must have been picked. Drink this wine (14.7% alcohol) with close friends and delicious food. This wine seems to have the ability to last beyond 2-3 years, but t

Full and very sweet, with notes of dried apricot, pineapple, and papaya on the palate. Long, with a vanilla-coconut tart finish. What a wine, voluptuous, sexy, and luscious. 147 grams of RS. 2012 Occidental (Kistler) "Bodegas Headlands--Cuvée Elizabeth" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Occidental (Kistler) "Bodegas Headlands--Cuvée Elizabeth" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As good as the Cuvée Catherine is, there is another Occidental Pinot that is profound. There are 2,000 cases of the 2012 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvée Elizabeth. This wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru Musigny. Incredible floral notes, sweet raspberries and blueberries as well as wet rocks soar from the glass of this profound, medium to full-bodied, gorgeous Pinot Noir made from 100% Calera clone. Stunning ripeness, great acids, and terrific delineation are all present in this super-intense, fragrant, modern classic from Steve Kistler. It should drink well for at least a decade, possibly a lot longer. (RP)" (01/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Pavie, St-Emilion (95RP, 95VN, 95W&S, 93JG, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine still possesses a dense, youthful, plum/garnet color to the rim, with very little lightening. The first vintage for Pavie under Chantal and Gérard Perse, the 1998 is full-bodied, showing lots of cedar wood, forest floor, roasted herbs, black cherry and blackcurrant and new saddle leather. It is quite full-bodied, opulent and seems to be just entering its plateau of full maturity, where it should last another 15-20 years. (RP)" (08/2015)

1995 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1995 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 95VN, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Araujo's Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard has become a benchmark. I believe the 1995 is the finest produced under the Araujo regime. It is close to perfection. The wine combines extraordinary power and richness with remarkable complexity and finesse. The saturated purple/black color is followed by aromas of sweet vanillin intermixed with riveting scents of black currants, minerals, exotic spices, coffee, and toast. There is nothing garish about this subtle yet powerful giant of a wine. A Napa Valley classic, it is full-bodied and extremely rich, yet retains its sense of balance and symmetry. This fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 30 or more years. Drink through 2030. (RP)" (12/1998)

2016 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (100JD, 95RP, 94VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "Leading off the Pinot Noirs, this is unquestionably the finest set of releases from the estate I’ve ever tasted, and it appears some of the magic Mark finds with his Chardonnays is finding its way over to the Pinot Noirs. The 2016 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is 100% Calera clone (which reportedly comes from Vosne-Romanée) from a site in the Sonoma Coast and was brought up in 60-70% new French oak. It also saw around 10-20% whole clusters. Incredible ripe cherries, strawberries, exotic spices, blood orange, and floral notes all soar from this transparently colored, multi-dimensional, layered Pinot Noir that has no hard edges, ultra-fine tannin, and a finish that just won’t quit. It’s the finest Pinot Noir ever made from this address." (06/2018)

Of the 2005 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Starting off the more southern Rhone-inspired blends, the 2005 James Berry Vineyard is a brilliant effort that’s drinking perfectly. Made from 70% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre and 10% Grenache, it gives up incredible aromas of sweet blackcurrants, blackberry liqueur, spiced meats, licorice and roasted meats that are just now starting to show hints of evolution. Sweetly fruited and with full-bodied richness, this beauty is hard to resist and has fabulous concentration, sweet tannin and a seamless finish. 2010 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99JD, 99RP, 98WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mind blowing stuff, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is most likely the greatest wine ever from this estate. Still inky colored, it has a powerful, slightly backward feel in its crushed rocks, cassis, kirsch, toasted spice, licorice and dried flower-like aromas and flavors. Massively concentrated, thick, rich and textured, it delivers a serious lashing of tannin, yet nevertheless is perfectly balanced, ultra-pure, precise and long. It's the quintessential Clos des Papes and will have 30+ years of longevity. Note, yields were a miniscule 16 hectoliters per hectare, so there's not much of this out there. Drink from 2020-2040. Of the 2009 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault "Clos de la Barre",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "From a tank sample taken just prior to the fining: Bright, pale yellow-green. Grapefruit and lemon ice on the nose, plus a whiff of white truffle. Edgy lemony acidity gives shape to the palate and carries the finish. A second sample, taken after the fining: Bright pale yellow. Subtly perfumed nose hints at lemon ice. Juicy and pure but a bit sharper than the first sample, showing excellent precision to the lemon zest flavors. 2004 L'Aventure "Cuvée Coincidence" Paso Robles Red (OWC)
Bid on this bottle of 2004 L'Aventure "Cuvée Coincidence" Paso Robles Red in original wood. The Templeton Gap area of Paso Robles, where the fruit for this wine was grown, ordinarily experiences a cooling, maritime trend in late-summer and early fall, creating huge diurnal temperature swings (100-degree days, cool, 55-degree nights). But in 2004, this trend did not kick in and the hot days gave way to simmering 80-degree nights. The results? All the grapes to ripened at the same time! Winemaker Stephan Asseo used this unique, coincidental opportunity to create this unique blend of co-fermented Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Only 100 cases of the wine were produced. A rare find!
