2015 Figeac, St-Émilion Top Pick!
2015 Figeac, St-Émilion

100 points Decanter: "From the very first sip you see why certain wines just have a hold on the imagination. This has the full intensity of St-Émilion with none of the need to shout about it or push its point home. It's just effortlessly intense and confident, with flavours of liquorice, pencil shavings, damson and cassis. It has wonderful freshness and balance, and full grip from firm tannins. Complex and persistent, this is an absolute joy to taste. 100% new oak. Drinking Window 2023 - 2042. (JA) " (12/2017) 100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A hold onto your ...Read More »

2015 Hyot, Côtes de Castillon

90 points James Suckling: " A round and juicy red with berry and chocolate character, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Medium to full body. Needs a year or two to soften. Try in 2020. " (02/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "Located to the west of Castillon-la-Bataille, this vineyard is close in geography and style to Saint-Émilion. It delivers a rich texture from the ripe Merlot as well as generous, warm berry fruits. At the same time, the wine has a light touch of acidity and a crisp aftertaste. Drink this poised wine from 2021. (RV)" (05/2018)

2015 Val delle Rose "Aurelio" Toscana

95 points James Suckling: "A glorious red with intense and focused blackberry character and hints of wet earth. Bark and chocolate, too. Full body, layered and dense. A great wine. 100% Merlot. Drink in 2020 but already fascinating." (08/2017) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The very cheerful and attractive 2015 Maremma Toscana Aurelio is 95% Merlot with 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak for one year. An extremely long and focused finish. A great wine. Needs four or five years to come together. Try in 2022." (09/2018) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This is full of enticing blackberry, blueberry and plum flavors, with a spine of acidity, iron accents and beefy tannins. 2016 Truquet, St-Émilion

Wine Enthusiast: "From vines on the plateau to the west of the village of Saint-Émilion, this is a light, fruity wine. Its acidity and tannic structure lend a crisp texture to its black currant fruit. It will probably broaden as it matures, so drink from 2019. (RV)" (12/2017)

1999 Pavie, St-Emilion

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine has a very youthful color and seems to be close to full maturity, without the density of the 1998, or its successor, the perfect 2000. It has abundant foresty notes, plenty of spice box, blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, some background toasty oak, medium to full body and sweet tannin. A very delicious wine, it offers a complex and fragrant style. It should be drunk over the next 12-15 years. (RP)" (08/2015) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby. Drink in 2021." (02/2018) K&L Notes: A great example of the unique power of Pomerol. 2016 d'Arce, Côtes de Castillon

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Tasted out of bottle, the 2016 Château d'Arce offers a beautiful bouquet of black raspberries, crushed rocks, licorice, and spice. It's slightly deeper and more concentrated than the 2015, with more tannins and acidity, it's a pure, elegant, gorgeous red that more than overdelivers." (10/2018) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2016 d'Arce is soft, ripe and plummy. Love the texture and intensity. Chalky. Amazing. Goes on for minutes. Try in 2023." (02/2018) 97 points Vinous: "The 2015 Larcis Ducasse is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. 2015 Pétrus, Pomerol Top Pick!
2015 Pétrus, Pomerol

100 points Decanter: "There is so much going on with Petrus in 2015 that you should just pull up a chair and relax, don't expect to be going anywhere soon. Aromatic persistency keeps reaching in, pulling you further alongside. There is a soft quality to the tannins that allows the black fruit to be both juicy and sweet. High alcohol is balanced by freshness - a pH of 3.5 is relatively rare on these sticky clay soils - unleashing waves of flavour, including bergamot, smoky tea, black olives and rich cherry. The persistency is crazy - I had to get my notes ...Read More »

2003 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Troplong Mondot’s 2003 is a brilliant success in this vintage, largely because of the limestone soils and incredibly low yields. There are nearly 70 acres of vines in production, yields were tiny, and the harvest was early. Nevertheless, there is an opulence and youthfulness in this wine that suggest it has at least a decade of life left. A luxurious effort with high glycerin, loads of blueberry, mulberry, black currant, licorice and charcoal ember-like notes, full body, low acidity and sweet tannin, this beauty ...Read More »

2016 Canon, St-Émilion (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Decanter: "This vintage delivers a beautiful, classic style of Canon that is right at the top of what St-Émilion can offer. Compact and dense without being hard, it is finely structured both in terms of the texture of the cassis and blackberry fruits and in the shape of the tannins. It demonstrates a clear minerality and a feather-brushing of violet notes. This is less obviously sexy than 2015, but is a wine that offers a masterclass in what limestone terroir can convey - salinity, succulence, hints of austerity and reserves of power. 2015 de Landiras Rouge, Graves Top Pick!
2015 de Landiras Rouge, Graves

This property is located at the southern end of the Graves region, very close to Barsac and Sauternes. It is one of the oldest in Bordeaux, dating from the fourteenth century. John Statton built the original chateau in 1360 on the site of a Roman villa, while the land was still in English possession. In the 1500s, the property was purchased and run by the powerful Angol-Gascon family of Montferrand. At the time there were 14,000 acres of vineyards and property. This is a beautiful bottle that projects a deep sense of confidence and enormous beauty, inside and out. 2015 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Blended with 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this wine is thick, dense and dusty in tannin. Flavors of mocha, cherry and clove dominate on the well-integrated, full-bodied palate, finishing in dried herb and coffee bean. (VB)" (12/2018)

2016 D'Archambeau, Graves Top Pick!
2016 D'Archambeau, Graves

Aromas of plums and berries with hints of chocolate and stones. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a savory finish. Ralph and I and Trey have a soft spot in our hearts for this property. We were there for dinner long ago when the comet Hale-Bopp was passing over in April 1997.

2015 La Cabanne, Pomerol

95 points James Suckling: "A dense and rich red with ripe fruit and plenty of muscles. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Enjoy the berry, orange peel and cedar undertones in the wine. Best ever? Needs at least four or five years to come together. " (02/2018) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 La Cabanne is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
