2015 Hyot, Côtes de Castillon

90 points James Suckling: " A round and juicy red with berry and chocolate character, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Medium to full body. Needs a year or two to soften. Try in 2020. " (02/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "Located to the west of Castillon-la-Bataille, this vineyard is close in geography and style to Saint-Émilion. It delivers a rich texture from the ripe Merlot as well as generous, warm berry fruits. At the same time, the wine has a light touch of acidity and a crisp aftertaste. Drink this poised wine from 2021. (RV)" (05/2018)

2012 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion

92 points James Suckling: "A dense and polished red for the vintage with dried strawberry, raspberry and chocolate character. Full body, firm tannins and a pretty finish. Needs two or three years to soften slightly but already impressive." (01/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barde-Haut is dark, fleshy and voluptuous, with notable depth and resonance from the Merlot. Mocha, bittersweet chocolate, plums and spices all add nuance, but above all else, the 2012 is a wine of spherical texture and intensity. Give it a few years to fully unwind. The blend is ...

2016 Tour St-Christophe, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival)

96 points James Suckling: "This has a rich and ripe dark-fruit nose with a wealth of stony attraction and a lighter, floral edge. The palate has a very rich core of deeply ripe, fleshy fruit, framed in cedary oak. Really impressive clarity and web-like tannins. Superb finish. Try from 2023." (02/2019) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Tour Saint-Christophe is made up of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. (RV)" (04/2010) Jancis Robinson: "Rich dark plum fruit but also meaty and savoury - a wine with attitude. Smooth and pretty dense, just about fresh. Drink 2014-2023. (JH)" (10/2011) ...

1994 Angélus, St-Emilion

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Black-ruby. Sweet, expressive aromas of bitter cherry, cocoa powder and caramel. Very sweet and very concentrated, but fresh and nicely defined. Intriguing gamey nuance. Substantial even tannins coat the mouth, but are buried under explosive finishing fruit. This wine shows considerably more personality, not to mention depth of fruit flavor, than the '95. A superb '94, and one not to miss. Crème de cassis, dried flowers, earth, and loads of limestone-like minerality all flow to a full-bodied, opulent wine that has sweet tannins and a great mid-palate. Drink this uber-sexy beauty any time over the coming 15+ years. " (10/2018) 95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, wet earth and black tea. 2016 Haut-Musset, Lalande-de-Pomerol

Haut Musset is one of the up-and-coming Bordeaux properties you’d be wise to keep an eye on. A small estate of ten acres, it’s run by husband-and-wife team Veronique Abbadie and Jerome Aguirre. Veronique’s grandfather planted the vineyard. This dynamic duo met while studying enology and viticulture at the University of Bordeaux and shared a Basque heritage which helped to cement their relationship. Jerome became the winemaker at several small, top-notch Pomerol estates including Le Gay and La Violette, where he fashioned many critically acclaimed wines. ...

A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new oak, with 15% natural alcohol, it exhibits a sumptuous bouquet of caramels, black raspberry liqueur, blackberries, violets, graphite and truffles. 2007 La Prade, Côtes de Francs

Wine Spectator: "Aromas of licorice, tar and some blackberry lead to a medium body, with light tannins and a fruity, delicate finish. (Web Only—2010) " K&L Notes: Château La Prade, just four-and-a-half hectares, was purchased by the Thienpont family in 2000. Despite the tiny size, part of the vineyards are on the limestone plateau and the rest on a south-facing slope rich in iron. This somewhat unique terroir results in a rich Merlot-dominated blend with great structure. We tasted this wine on our April 2014 Bordeaux trip and bought it on the spot. Deli ...
