2000 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from an ex-château bottle in Bordeaux, I was not surprised to find the 2000 Château Haut-Brion flirting with perfection. The nose is simply breathtaking - quintessential Haut-Brion with ebullient red berry fruit, roasted herbs, gravel, terracotta tiles on a warm summer's day...it is simply wave after wave of intoxicating scents that could bring even the most stoic person to tears of joy. The palate displays heavenly balance, pitch-perfect acidity, perhaps spicier than previous bottles that I have tasted, a ...

2000 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

94 points Wine Spectator: "Lovely nose of plums, chocolate and berries, with hints of spices. Full-bodied, with superfirm tannins and a tight tannin structure. Long and refined. It builds on your palate. Best after 2012. (JS)" (05/2003) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Quinta do Vesuvio is owned by the Symington family but managed separately from the family’s shipping brands (Dow, Graham, Warre). This is very long and balanced, but still needs time. Just starting to open up now, but give it a couple of years." (02/2011) 92 points Vinous: "Good full ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of cassis, violet, shoe polish, tar and smoke. Sweet, ripe and luscious, with earthy underbrush and blackberry flavors lingering impressively on the aftertaste. 2000 Quilceda Creek Washington Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby-colored 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon has a nose reminiscent of a blackberry-flavored Yoplait yogurt laced with roasted oak and hints of licorice. A full-bodied wine of power and structure, it is crammed with black currants, blackberries, and spices. Its dense fruit is matched blow for blow with a muscular, firm structure. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020. (PR)" (12/2002) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Announces itself as a serious red from the first whiff of earthy, smoky notes weaving through the licorice- ...

(RV)" (06/2003) 93 points James Suckling: "This offers a complex nose of sweet tobacco and stones, with red fruits such as plums, as well as a smoky note on the nose. Combining power with charm and finesse in a deeply textured, rich, elegant, yet authoritatively flavorful style, this is a brilliant effort as well as a compliment to proprietor Christian Moueix. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. Mind-blowing on the palate, it’s an emotional and soulful red." (04/2014) 99 points Vinous: "The 2000 Latour is a wine that I feel is overlooked by many cognoscenti, goggle-eyed by the 2005 or 2009. Drink now through 2023. The impression is of a lovely Pinot that combines delicacy and elegance with power. Drink now and over the next four years. " (02/2005) K&L Notes: While this elegant Pinot Noir is fashioned to resemble its Burgundian forbears, there is an intensity of fruit that makes its Californian roots well known. Delicious at present, it should drink well for another 5-7 years. (RP)" (06/2010) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Subtle, yet rich. Refined, yet powerful. It is good that the wine can support the presentation. The fruit is so ripe, it almost tastes of raisins, but that sweetness is finely balanced by the dry tannins and concentrated texture. Perhaps even longer on the finish than the H Block though not as fine, finishing with substantial dusty tannins. 'A wilder, crazier, growling kind of a wine,' admits winemaker John Kongsgaard. The blend is generally 85% Grenache and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre. Its opaque purple color is followed by a sumptuous perfume of creme de cassis, kirsch liqueur, licorice, plums, minerals, and smoke. Dense purple in color, with loads of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate notes, this is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and a whooping 10% Petit Verdot, with a little bit of Cabernet Franc.
