1992 Quinta do Infantado "Estate Bottled" Vintage Port

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There were only 1,000 cases produced of the 1992 Vintage Port, and they are not likely to languish on retailers' shelves. A saturated, black/purple color is followed by a huge, ripe, pure nose of jammy blackberry and cassis fruit that is vaguely reminiscent of such great 1990 Hermitages as Chapoutier's Le Pavillon, Jaboulet's La Chapelle, or Chave's red label Cuvee Cathelin. Awesome concentration, massive body, an unctuous texture oozing with fruit, glycerin, and extract, and a blockbuster finish all suggest this ...

1992 Stonestreet "Legacy" Alexander Valley Bordeaux Blend

92 points and a 'Cellar Selection' designation from Wine Spectator: "Supple, complex and harmonious, with layers of smoky oak, currant, cherry and spice. Finishes with smooth, thick tannins and excellent length. A beautifully crafted red wine from this California winery." (09/95) According to Robert Parker: "A 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 3% Petite Verdot blend, Stonestreet's 1992 Legacy exhibits a dark ruby color with some opacity, and a complex nose with scents of jammy red and black fruits, smoke, sausage, and new oak. The wine is rich, fu ...

1992 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The year 1992 was the second most abundant year for Spottswoode, producing 5,713 cases, with the final blend 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. This was a classic Napa vintage with abundant fruit and high yields. Spottswoode made a magnificent example. With a dark ruby/purple/garnet-colored wine to the rim, this wine is stunningly rich, with floral-infused blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, a hint of chocolate and toast. Terrific aromatics are followed by an equally impressive full-bodied wine, wi ...

1992 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection (a February, 1996 release) is superior to the 1991 and 1990. The 1992 displays an opaque ruby-purple color, followed by huge, full-throttle aromatics offering a blast of sweet, toasty new oak combined with exceptional red and black fruits. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, with not a hard edge to be found. (RP)" (12/1995) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Maturing in color and taste, with a mix of dill, cedar, plum, coffee, pencil shavings and herbal notes. Smooth-te ...

1992 Silverado Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

1992 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Caymus has one of the most enviable track records of any California winery. Having followed their Cabernet Sauvignons since the early seventies, I find it remarkable that this winery has never gone through a slump. Not many wineries, anywhere in the world, can match the Wagner family's consistent record of success. The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits gobs of toasty oak and cassis fruit in a ripe, opulent, full-bodied, round, generous style. (RP)" (12/1995) Wine Spectator: "Supple and harmonious black cherry, currant, pl ...

1992 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (pushed cork, cracked capsule)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What makes the 1992 California Cabernet Sauvignon vintage so incredible is that one of its hallmarks is the voluptuous, opulent, and succulent nature of the fruit. In Dunn's offerings, that translates into wines that are massive and rich, but with sweeter, more expansive, chewy mid-palates. Both of these Cabernets are 20-30 year wines, but I suspect the softer Napa cuvee will be drinkable in 5-7 years." (10/1995) 97 points Vinous: "The 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is simply stunning. Wow. The fruit i ...

1992 Latour, Pauillac

90 points Wine Spectator: "Good dark ruby color. Intense aromas of chocolate, berry and cedar. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long finish. Starting to show some bottle bouquet, but good backbone and firmness. Textbook Latour from a difficult vintage. (JS)" (08/2000) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Only 50% of the 1992 harvest went into the "grand vin." The result is a sweet, expansive, rich, medium-bodied, surprisingly supple Latour with the tell-tale English walnut, blackcurrant, and mineral-scented nose, very good to excellent flavor concentrat ...

1992 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1992 Les Pavots, reminiscent of a top-class St.-Julien/Pauillac, is the first vintage that has begun to exhibit some complex cedar, lead pencil, and cassis aromas. Medium to full-bodied, with impressive richness, this layered, intense yet balanced wine still needs another 2-3 years of cellaring, although it reveals more immediate charm and secondary aromas than its three younger siblings. It is a wine that will last for at least 20+ years. The blend for Peter Michael's Les Pavots proprietary red wine varies y ...

1992 Far Niente "Dolce" Napa Valley Dessert Wine (375ml)

90 points Wine Spectator: "Sweet, rich, complex honey, pear, fig, nectarine and peach flavors lead to a concentrated aftertaste that echoes ultra ripe fruit." (12/1995) K&L Notes: A combination of late harvest Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc from the foggy town of Coombsville, east of Napa, Dolce is Napa's ultimate Sauternes-style dessert wine, with its earthy, botrytis underpinning and joyful acidity.

1992 Dow Quinta Bonfim Port

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dow's 1992 Quinta do Bomfim is an expressive, fragrant, up-front style of port with a pungent, peppery, floral, cassis-scented nose, full-bodied, rich, chewy, ripe flavors, light tannin, and sensational extract and length. The wine explodes on the back of the palate, announcing its considerable richness and intensity. This port should drink well young, and last for 30 years." (02/95) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Much better than from barrel. Perhaps better than Dow's blended 1991 vintage Port. This is big and conc ...

1992 Pahlmeyer "Jayson" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This densely, ruby/purple-colored wine possesses an intense, complex fragrance of blackcurrants, smoke, spices, and vague underbrush notes. Full-bodied and ripe, with a velvety texture and gobs of black-cherry and blackcurrant fruit, this silky, opulently styled wine is already drinking well, yet it is capable of lasting for 10-15 years. Recent efforts from Pahlmeyer have suggested that some of the hard, tough tannins that were part of the rich style Pahlmeyer achieved with earlier releases have been tamed. There ...

Top Pick!
1992 Taylor Vintage Port (Previously $300)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Taylor's 1992 Vintage Port is unquestionably the greatest young port I have ever tasted. It represents the essence of what vintage port can achieve. The color is an opaque black/purple, and the nose offers up fabulously intense aromas of minerals, cassis, blackberries, licorice, and spices, as well as extraordinary purity and penetration. Yet this is still an unformed and infantile wine. If Chateau Latour made a late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon, I suspect it might smell like this. In the mouth, the wine is out of ...

1992 Lopez de Heredia Viña Tondonia Rioja (Previously $120)

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good healthy red to the rim. Vinous, oaky aromas of strawberry, cinnamon and nut skin. Lively but dry and rather unforthcoming; seems a bit pinched today and quite tight on the back end. All sinew and acidity right now; should be decanted and served with a meal. (ST)" (11/1999)

1992 Domaine Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1992 Domaine Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru. David Schildknecht writes: "Pierre and Francois Bertheau render textbook Chambolle, which means that pinotphiles who crave extroverted richness or overt sex appeal may find them less compelling than I do...Interestingly, although only modestly saturated in color, all of Bertheau’s wines have that mysterious blackish hint at the rim that many old-timers will tell you is a distinctive mark of Pinot. The Chambolle and Chambolle 1er Cru are rotated out of their largely used barriques after the first year and rest for 3-4 months in large traditional fuders. All of the wines are bottled (unfiltered) at the same time..."
