2017 Quinta da Aveleda Loureiro-Alvarinho Vinho Verde

Right now, it’s delicate, with filigreed lemon-lime flavors offering fruit depth before signing off in a crisp, clean finish. Chill it as an early-evening aperitif, a brunch wine for bacalhão fritters or pike quenelles, or a picnic wine for ventresca tuna salad." Caves Messias Santola "Crab Wine" Vinho Verde

Produced from Loureiro and Pederña grapes grown in the granitic soils of the Vinho Verde region, the Santola (or as we here are calling it, "the crab wine") is a delicious, spritely and refreshing white. It doesn't get much more traditional, thirst-quenching or seasonally perfect then this wine. Delicious, low in alcohol, slightly fizzy and way too easy to drink!

2017 Maritma "The 4 Old Guys" Sangiovese Toscana

This has been the #1 selling Italian wine for more than two decades at K&L! You can't get that kind of continued success without a supremely fantastic quality-to-price ratio. The southern Tuscan coast is a wonderful location for winemaking, with stable temperatures and a solid history of quality, yet no fame and fortune. Incredibly priced bargains come out of the region, and the proof is in the bottle. This wine is wonderful, soft, forward and easy-to-drink Sangiovese with an enticing mixture of cherry, plum and earth. Eminently drinkable.

Miquel Pons Cava Brut Penedes

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light gold. Musky aromas of pear skin, peach and herbs, plus a hint of honey. Fleshy and broad on entry, then tighter in the middle, offering good depth to its sappy orchard fruit flavors. Shows a lot of ripe fruit for a wine that got no dosage. The smooth finish offers good clarity and decent persistence. This fruity Cava would be a good match for salty or spicy foods. (JR)" (11/2011) Wine Spectator: "Definitely a dry-style cava, this features lightly chalky acidity and flavors of green pear, lemon zest and ...

2017 Domaine la Croix Belle "Caringole" Côtes de Thongue Rouge

Just outside the city of Montpellier lie the vineyards of La Croix Belle, a family owned and operated Domaine that traces it roots back to the region more than two centuries. Francoise and Jacques Boyer assumed contril of the property in the late 70s with an eye towards making clean expressive wines reflecting the region. A lot of replanting was done, yields were lowered and modern winemaking techniques and facilities were adopted. This eye for detail had delivered us some of the freshest and most compelling values of the season. The Caringole is a b ...

2017 Nicolas Idiart Sauvignon Blanc Val de Loire

Nicolas Idiart, winemaker and founder of Maison Idiart, grew up with a passion for wine, which he acquired from his father and grandfather. After graduating from winemaking school at Blanquefort in Bordeaux, Nicolas' enthusiasm for Loire wines brought him to work in Chinon, Touraine, and Muscadet, with stints further afield in Australia and New Zealand. Never quite sure where his niche was, he moved in to the sales side of the wine business, mainly in North America. 2017 Domaine de Millet Colombard-Ugni Blanc Côtes de Gascogne Blanc

Côtes de Gascogne is primarily known for the production of Armagnac; it wasn’t until the last 20 years or so that producers began to take table wine production seriously. Traditionally, these wines would have been distilled into Armagnac. Producers found that by fermenting at lower temperatures in stainless steel, they could develop and preserve more powerful aromatics. Though yields are high, costs have stayed low and the wines are consequently some of the best bargain whites in France. Domaine de Millet is first and foremost an Armagnac producer. They ...
