2016 Domaine du Tunnel Saint Peray "Pur Blanc" (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Possessing a hint of green in its medium yellow color, the 2016 Saint-Péray Pur Blanc is unquestionably the finest wine I've tasted from this appellation. Buttered citrus, currants, honeysuckle, white flowers and hints of minerality all flow to a pure, full-bodied, elegant white that has fine tannin, sensational purity and a saline-like minerality on the finish. Anyone doubting this terroir is capable of making great, world-class wines needs to taste this cuvee!" (07/2018) 94 points Vinous: "Light brilliant yellow. A powerful, h ...Read More »

2015 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc (Previously $300)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Matching the otherworldly 2009, the 2015 Hermitage Blanc is a perfect wine and certainly one of the greatest whites ever made from this hallowed estate. The normal blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne from the l’Ermite, Péleat, and les Rocoules lieux-dits, it exhibits a huge, opulent bouquet of buttered citrus, flower oil, orange marmalade, quince, and honeysuckle that’s to die for. This majestic, full-bodied Hermitage Blanc has a huge mid-palate, thrilling purity of fruit, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s capable of lasting ...Read More »

2016 M. Chapoutier "de l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

98-100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Leading off the three single vineyard whites, the 2016 Ermitage Cuvée De L’Orée is a huge, unctuous white that delivers the goods. Orange marmalade, buttered citrus, honeycomb and brioche all soar from the glass. Possessing a thick, full-bodied style, huge mid-palate concentration, and a great, great finish, it's one of the world's greatest dry whites, year in, year out, and 2016 isn’t going to break that trend." (01/2018) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As usual, Chapoutier's sélections parcellaires are stunning. ...Read More »

2015 M. Chapoutier "de l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Of the three sélection parcellaire whites, the 2015 Ermitage de l’Orée is the most fresh and lively, with full-bodied richness and depth in its pineapple, mint, tropical fruits, toasted bread, brioche and liquid rock-styled aromas and flavors. It has good acidity, a stacked mid-palate and one seriously long finish. Not enough can be said about the quality that consistently comes from this estate. From the top to the bottom of the range, you can’t go wrong. (JD)" (12/2016) 97 points Decanter: "Tight bouquet, de ...Read More »

2017 M. Chapoutier "de l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

99 points Decanter: "Rich and opulent on the nose, with yellow peach and honeycomb. Very full bodied, with that immediate internal sweet ripeness of fruit that often marks out this cuvée. Good balancing acidity here, with real intensity of concentrated sappy fruits. Huge length, impressive power and a great mineral expression. It coats the mouth, and somehow stays fresh despite its richness. Old vine Marsanne (over 70 years old) grown on the pebbly, sand and clay soils of the lieu-dit Les Murets. 80% is matured in demi-muid for 11 months, 15% new oak, an ...Read More »

2017 M. Chapoutier "Les Granits" St-Joseph Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Decanter: "A classic, elegant, and intense vintage of Granits Blanc. Fresh, rich aromatic expression: honeysuckle and spiced peach with well-integrated oak spice. Medium-bodied, silky, with brisk acidity. Long, saline finish. Made from 47-year-old Marsanne vines grown on steep, gravelly granitic slopes near Tournon, lieu-dit St-Joseph. 85% is matured in demi-muid for 11 months, 15% new oak, the rest in stainless steel. 2016 Ferraton Pere et Fils "Le Reverdy" Hermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Also terrific, the tiny production 2016 Ermitage Le Reverdy Blanc is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne brought up in demi-muids. It gives up more honeyed marmalade, wood smoke, caramelized citrus and crushed rocks aromatics. Rich, unctuous and concentrated on the palate, with gorgeous purity, it has building structure, and a great, great finish. It’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage and should not be missed. Give bottles a year or so and enjoy over the following two decades. The only downside to these latest r ...Read More »

2016 Guy Farge "Vania" Saint-Joseph Blanc

Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, the 2015 Saint Joseph Vania Blanc has a tropical, exotic bouquet of melon, honeysuckle and hints of green citrus. It's medium-bodied, has good acidity, and a clean, straightforward style ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years." (01/2018) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, the 2016 Saint Joseph Vania is more aromatic than most white Saint Josephs. It offers ripe hints of peach and guava on the nose, then delivers a rich, round mouthfeel on the palate. ...Read More »

2017 Guy Farge "Grain de Silex" Saint-Peray Blanc

The 2017 Grain de Silex has not been professionally scored to date, but the 2016 did receive a score of 92 points from Wine Advocate with the following review: "A blend of Roussanne (90%) and Marsanne (10%) matured in stainless steel and bottled early, the 2016 Saint Peray Grain de Silex is plump and succulent, with medium to full body and ripe flavors of baked apple and pineapple balanced by citrus zest and brine on the long, silky finish. Drink it over the next few years."

2017 M. Chapoutier "L'Ermite" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As in 2016, my favorite of the white parcel selections this year is the 2017 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc (231 cases produced), as it perfectly balances richness and power with refinement and structure. Toasted brioche and citrus marmalade, honey and truffle notes deliver sheer full-bodied, mouth-filling decadence, supported by austere notes of crushed granite, zesty grapefruit rind and cooling brine. Huge and intense yet refreshing, it's the essence of granite-grown Marsanne. The annual tasting session at the Cha ...Read More »

2017 M. Chapoutier "Le Méal" Ermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Ermitage le Meal Blanc starts with refined notes of crushed stone and pencil shavings that move into a whirlwind of lush fruit, ranging from pineapple through melon and pear. It's rich, almost custardy in texture, yet it's backed by mineral notes of crushed stone and delivers awesome freshness on the long finish. It's an exhilarating ride. 508 cases produced. 2016 Pierre Gonon "Les Oliviers" Saint-Joseph Blanc

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Saint Joseph les Oliviers Blanc came out of barrel in September and was scheduled to be bottled at the end of November. It shows a tight, restrained nose but a broad, expansive feel on the palate. Honey and melon notes are rich, balanced by hints of white pepper on the long finish. It’s one of the best examples of white Saint Joseph on the market. (JC)" (12/2017) 93 points Vinous: "Limpid yellow-gold. 2016 Powell & Son Roussanne-Marsanne Barossa Valley South Australia (Previously $40)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 60% Marsanne and 40% Roussanne, the 2016 Marsanne Roussanne offers pretty scents of warm peach, beeswax, honey and allspice with a hint of baking bread. Medium-bodied with plenty of savory and stone fruit flavor layers, it has a satiny texture and great persistence. (LPB) 92+" (02/2017) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, with smooth and creamy peach, apricot and Asian pear flavors, accented by spicy toast and a whiff of roasted fennel. 2015 E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc

94 points Decanter: "Made from a blend of purchased wines and purchased grapes vinified by Guigal. The same sectors are included each year, mostly on the alluvial soils of the eastern flank of the hill. It has a pretty nose, with some good fruit coming through alongside hints of honeysuckle, marzipan and cashew in a fairly oaky style. It has a very silky palate, rich with generous puppy fat and glycerol, but not huge in fruit concentration. It's a large, plump style, balanced by good freshness and lift. 2017 Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage Blanc

80% Marsanne, 20% Roussanne Alain Graillot founded his domaine in Crozes-Hermitage in 1985, and rapidly became one of the most in-demand producers in the Northern Rhone for his exuberant, robust, and complete Syrah-based wines. Domaine Remy Nodin Saint Peray Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

2014 Tintype Winery Sierra Foothills Marsanne (Previously $25)

Winemaker's Notes: "Grown at 3000 ft outside of Placerville, this high altitude Marsanne is the perfect winter white. Rich and round, yet totally dry it shows aromas of almond and citrus blossom. The night before harvest, we camped in the vineyard under bright mountain stars. We woke at dawn and began harvesting with the vineyard crew. We didn't sleep until we had hauled our cargo back to Mendocino and pressed the beautiful fruit into a single stainless fermentation tank. The juice fermented slowly on the ambient yeasts with a micro addition of organi ...Read More »
