1988 Fitte et Laterrade 30 Year Old "Domaine Le Chaou" Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

Fitte et Laterrade is one of a new breed of micro-bottler that's becoming more prominent in this complex region. The incredibly diverse producers of Armagnac across Gascogne have previously not had many options if and when they chose to commercialize their stocks. This small bottler came into existence thanks to a chance meeting between wine professional Vincent Laterrade and the Fitte family of Chateau de Herrebouc. Together they embarked on a journey through Gascogne to find the region's hidden jewels. They build relationships with tiny producers and o ...

Darroze Les Grand Assemblages "20 Year Old" Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

93 points Vinous: "At 20 years old, scoured from barrels throughout Bas-Armagnac, this is the finest of Darroze’s blends. Nutty, with prune, dried apricot and spice, with freshness throughout. Bas-Armagnac, 40% abv. (JW)" (07/2018) K&L Notes: Absolutely stunning Armagnac with incredible richness, spice, and balance. I can't say it enough, so I'll say it again: every Bourbon drinker who's out there chasing things like Pappy 20 or BMH 16 should be stocking up on things like this instead. Or maybe I shouldn't say that because the people who actually drink ...

1997 L'Encantada 20 Year Old "Bellair #36" Bas-Armagnac (750ml) (Previously $100)

Independent bottler L'Encantada understands what Armagnac lovers want because that's exactly what they are. This group of Armagnac-loving friends realized that some of the region's small estates were throwing away legendary eau-de-vie to blends made by the big négociants. They offered those estates a premium to retain the stocks for bottling as single casks at full strength. Many of these estates had never bottled Armagnac nor had any interested in marketing their precious eau-de-vie. Our friends at L'Encantada realized that the soul of Armagnac exists i ...

Baron de Lustrac 25 Year Old Brut de Fut Bas Armagnac (750ml)

97 points Vinous: "It’s unique to taste an XO that’s aged 25 years, made from a significant amount of Folle Blanche grape in the blend, and bottled at cask strength -- or brut de fût as the French say. Complex yet seamless. Summer-garden aromas of orange and honeysuckle lead to a deep, intense experience on the palate, a thrilling balance of fruit and minerality, and a long, dry finish. Bas-Armagnac, 42.4% abv. (JW)" (07/2018) K&L Notes: Here's a 25 year old Armagnac from a legendary house for less than $80. Oh, did we mention that it's also cask stren ...

1986 Chateau de Ravignan Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

From the importer: "Castles have graced the property of what is now the Château de Ravignan since the 12th century. The name "Ravignan" itself comes from the deep ravines surrounding the property that once served as a natural defense. The château was later occupied by feudal barons and partially destroyed during the religious wars of the 16th century. In the mid-17th century, a Louis XIII manor was built on the property. Vineyards were planted in 1732. Around the same time, the property was sold to Jean La Croix, who later took the name Ravignan."

Clos Martin VSOP 8 Year Old Bas-Armagnac (750ml)

Vinous: "Aged for 8 years, Clos Martin VSOP is a blend of Baco and Ugni Blanc. The nose is muted, a whiff of ginger and crème brulée, but in the mouth big flavors of dried fruit, cocoa, and toffee emerge. Bas-Armagnac, 40% abv. (JW)" (07/2018)

Dartigalongue XO 10 Year Armagnac (750ml)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "From 'the oldest House in Armagnac' comes a well-balanced sipper that's reminiscent of Bourbon with its deep amber color; its rich, sweet caramel note; and bold finish that tastes of maple-butter sprinkled with clove and cinnamon. (KN)" (12/2012) 93 points Vinous: "Dartigalongue’s XO is burly, with cologne-like aromas, and surprisingly complex for its youth (10-year-old brandies in the blend). Buttery, with flavors of dried plum, candied ginger and walnut, and a spicy finish of clove and cardamom. A Rye drinker’s Armagnac. B ...

2002 Chateau de Ravignan 15 Year Old Folle Blanche Armagnac (750ml)

Distillation of eau de vie at Chateau Ravignan dates back officially to at least 1791 during the French Revolution, but by historical account back to 1731. That’s when the ancestor of Josselin de Ravignan purchased the estate and declared on an official record that some of wine made from the property’s grapes would be used for distillation. At that time, however, it wasn’t known as Armagnac. Distilled spirits were used for a number of medicinal purposes, poured into wine for fortification, and given to sailors to help disinfect their water supplies durin ...

L'Encantada XO Cask Strength Bas Armagnac (750ml)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is made with a blend of four single-vintage casks (1987-1997) and bottled at cask strength. The rich aroma is loaded with vanilla bean, coffee and oak. The palate opens relatively drying, with hints of resin and sarsaparilla, and leads into a long, powerful finish of cocoa, vanilla cream and baking spice. (KN)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: A blend of four single vintage casks from the stocks of L'Encantada. 1989 Louis Pibous #61, 1987 Louis Pibous #87, 1994 Domaine Del Cassou #55, and 1997 Domaine Bellair #181.
