Quinquina in an aromatised wine, like Vermouth, Aperitifs, and Americanos. "En Rama'' translates to “from the branch” and is most commonly used in labelling Sherry as unfined and unfiltered. This is an unfined, unfiltered aromatized wine made with white wine, sidra (cider), and botanicals (wormwood, dictamo, artemisia, gentian, boldo, cinnamon, star anise, coriander and vanilla) and fruits (cherry, orange peel and lemon)). This is Christmas in a bottle, mulled cider with a kiss of sweetness and a pleasantly bitter spice laden finish. At 15% ABV this is ...

100 points Wine & Spirits: "If a wine could ever make you want to pull the top down on your '68 Ferrari convertible, rip off the rearview mirror and take off, this is it. It has a different kind of energy than the '02 Cristal Rosé, which is more ethereal, like strawberries at the right hand of some ancient Gallic god. This is more insolent, brash, earth bound. All the scents and flavors seem to emanate from limestone, as does the acidity, which hits at the front of the mouth and powers through the wine with the kind of solar energy that lifts mist off th...

Distilled by Buffalo Trace this is one of the greatest values in all of Kentucky. This is BT's mash bill #1 (same low rye mash bill as Buffalo Trace, Colonel Taylor, Stagg, and Eagle Rare, and Old Charter). The pedigree is impeccable and the price is almost too good to believe. It's at least 4 years old, making it the same age as whiskey legends like Jack Daniel's or Jim Beam, yet it has flown under the radar for years. At 9 bucks a bottle, it's a ringer for any tasting and deserves a spot at the table and on the bar.

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "After three years in bottle, this sparkling combines 50% Chardonnay with 40% Pinot Noir and a touch of Pinot Gris. Earthy mushroom and muddled lime, lemon and apple flavors highlight a smooth, structured palate of ample length and rounded weight. (VB)" (01/2021) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Vibrant and refined, with elegantly rich Asian pear, brioche and strawberry blossom accents that take on polish and richness on the lingering finish. (TF)" (10/2020)

Importer's notes: "The Crnko farm is located on the eastern side of Slovenia, north of Maribor and just south of the Austrian border. It is a breath taking environment of endless rolling green hills lined with vineyards that stretch the length of the horizon. Until 1918, this area was known as Lower Styria (formally Austria) and had been for many centuries. Grapes have also been cultivated here for over 2,000 years in addition to famed aromatic hop fields and ethereal pumpkin seed oil; a real treat with the local wines. The rich agricultural diversity of...

92 points James Suckling: "This Champagne rosé shows some good complexity on the nose with bread crust and brioche to match some dried cranberries and raspberries. Direct acidity frames the fine layering of bubbles. " (05/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "This crisp, fruity wine has a balanced texture that moves easily between bright acidity and ripe red fruits. The freshness shows strongly along with a soft aftertaste that keeps the wine rich. (RV)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: This is distinctive for being the area’s only château-bottled estate Champagne.

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "A new offering from the producer, this blends together Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it offers sleek flavors of strawberry puree and brioche that benefit from crisp acidity and stony texture. Balanced and fresh, it finishes in lemon peel and flowers. (VB)" (11/2019) 90 points Decanter: "Lithe and light, this delightful blend of Pinot Noir (65%) and Chardonnay reveals ripe red fruit and perfumed floral notes. Bright acidity on the balanced, engaging palate brings focus to the citrus and spice-infused finish. ('Decanter’s selecti...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This bone-dry Champagne, conceived by Roederer and designer Philippe Starck, shows fine maturity that balances the tight texture that still comes from the freshest fruits. With this balance and poise this beautiful wine is ready to drink. (RV)" (10/2020) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, with racy acidity, this finely integrated rosé Champagne boasts a subtle undertow of smoky mineral and a lacy mousse supporting smoked almond, kumquat, dried white cherry and spun honey flavors that echo on the zesty finish. 94 points James Suckling: "White fruit immediately on the nose, as well as some very strong lemon and lime notes. Some gently chalky notes, too, from the Chouilly chardonnay, which is super chalky. The palate has such focus and drive and a great, mineral core. Very long with a fresh line of acidity and peripheral, smooth flesh. Some pink grapefruit at the finish. Drink or hold." (09/2019) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A smoothly textured wine, this is perfectly in balance, with red berry and currant fruitiness assimilated into the lightly tannic and cris...

92 points Vinous: "The NV Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is one of the best Champagnes readers will find in its price range, or any price range, for that matter. Bright and beautifully focused, the Ste.-Anne has so much to offer. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. If anything, it needs more time on the cork to soften, as it is quite reticent at this stage. (AG)" (11/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Enticing aromas of spice and graphite draw you into the glass of this finely knit Champagne, winding like a fragrant thread through flavors of ripe and tan...

Our favorite Champagne for mixology, this Champagne has the integrated cane sugar that makes cocktails sing, as well as the texture and breed that only 3 years of ageing on the lees and real Champagne terroir can bring! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Wine Enthusiast: "There is something candied, almost confected about the pretty Mirabelle fruit on the nose. The palate is fresh with a slightly bitter edge of tartness. This might benefit from a little more bottle age to integrate. (AK) " (11/2018) K&L Notes: A blend of 80% Pinot Blanc and 20% Riesling. Full of tiny bubbles and lemony freshness. An elegant sparkler for less than $20!

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Krug's releases have always shown a wonderful balance between fruit and maturity. This rosé, the 23rd blending, is no exception. The nutty character of a mature Champagne is there along with red fruits, intense acidity from Pinot Noir and impeccable balance at the end. (RV)" (03/2020) 94 points Wine Spectator: "A creamy plushness accents this tightly meshed rosé Champagne, with rich hints of toasted nut and caffè crema underscoring the baked currant and apricot fruit flavors. Well-honed acidity focuses this through to the mo...

Winery notes: Pétillant Naturel is a method of producing sparkling wine, also referred to as “Methode Ancestrale”, where the carbonation occurs from bottling the wine during the primary, alcoholic fermentation – in order to capture the carbon dioxide that is being naturally released. This sparkling rosé was made from all estate-grown, Demeter certified Biodynamic® Pinot Noir grapes. We farm Block 3, a small northwest facing section of the vineyard planted to clone 667, specifically for this wine. We strive to achieve ripe fruit flavors and higher acidit...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Tradition Sparkling Wine is made from 54% Pinot Noir and 46% Chardonnay. It's made using the traditional method and is intentionally crafted to be a bit more oxidative and open than the Ultramarine sparklings. The nose explodes to gregarious aromas of chalk, freshly baked brioche and crushed almonds with a lush core of peachy fruits and honeyed nuances. The palate is all class, with those ripe fruits reigned in by chalky undertones and framed by fine, featherweight mousse, and it finishes long and toasty...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine provides a reminder that Champagne is not just Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. In addition, this blend incorporates Arbane, Pinot Blanc and Petit Meslier. The resulting wine is ripe, perfumed and full of concentrated creamed-apple flavors allied to tight acidity. It is ready to drink. (RV)" (12/2018) K&L Notes: This is one of the most exotic, complex bottles of Champagne in the store. The Chateau de Bligny is a big property, one of the largest growers in all of Champagne at 75 acres. This bottling is from...

92 points Wine Spectator: "A graceful rosé that's lacy and airy in texture, with finely knit acidity enlivening the flavors of ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and lemon chiffon, accented by hints of smoke and spice. (AN)" (11/2017) 90 points John Gilman: "As I noted in the past, the Drappier Brut Rosé is one hundred percent pinot noir from the estate’s own Aube vineyards and is produced by the saignée method, so that its lovely cherry color is from skin contact, rather than by adding a bit of still red wine to the blend. The cuvée is aged two and a ha...

A particularly rare California sparkling wine produced by Don Baumhefner who had been inspired by late disgorged Bollinger to let his wines rest "en tirage" for years. The San Francisco Chronicle's Esther Mobley fell in love with Baumhefner's 1992 and was excited to report in December 2017 that he had released another wine he discovered in Lake County that had come from a vineyard in Carneros. Mobley writes: "The 2010 Blanc de Blancs smells heady, wafting sweet bread dough. It’s rich, nutty and creamy, and more direct than Baumhefner’s 1990 and 1992 vint...

Winemaker's Notes: "We don’t grow any Riesling, unfortunately. But there are a bunch of wonderful people that do, and they let us buy some so we can produce this lovely wine! Still or, in this case, sparkling Riesling always enchants, and this wine sings the siren songs of none other than Circe herself. Sourced from two organic vineyards in the Willamette Valley, we pick these on the same day and naturally ferment them together, allowing their tension to weave together something dynamic, beautiful and lush. The sparkle makes it magical. Once primary fer...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the NV Brut Rosé is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage and is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. It was made with about nine grams per liter dosage and was disgorged in March of 2019. Pale salmon-pink in color, it has a lively nose of red berries, crushed stone, musk melon, floral hints and citrus peel and a bright and fresh palate with loads of perfumed red berries and energetic mousse, finishing long and uplifted. (EB)" (09/2020) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This mo...

Notes of biscuit, peach and toasted bread give it a nice sense of maturity and complexity. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Brut, which carries six grams per liter of residual sugar and was disgorged December 2016, is an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It has a fresh lime and sea spray bouquet, well defined with a light honeysuckle aroma. The palate is well balanced with citrus peel on the entry. It might not be as persistent as other South African MCCs, but it is bounding with freshness and delivers a tangy orange-pith finish. How how many champagnes can you get change from with a twenty dollar bill? (NM)" (04/2017) Vinous: ...

91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "72% Pinot Noir; 28% Chardonnay. Here is an exceptionally well-focused Rosé that, while deftly infused with a keen streak of yeasty richness, conveys continuous, fresh cherry fruit from start to finish and comes up a winner for its lively balance and its lovely finesse. It is long on effusive, very fine bubbles that simply refuse to quit and shows no small degree of complexity in a mannerly, neatly measured mix that, at every turn, is marked by exacting champenization, and it is wholly free of the vinous astringency to which...

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is an interesting hint of what I can only describe as talcum powder to the citrusy and yeasty green apple-scented nose. To be clear, the talcum powder character is by no means unpleasant but it’s unusual (and no, it’s definitely not from my stemware!). Otherwise the vibrant and intense flavors possess the same green apple element offered by the nose before terminating in a firm, delicious and dry finish that is dryer than the stated dosage would suggest." 90 points Wine Enthusiast: " The blend in 2016 is quite different from the previous vintage, reversing the roles of the Pinot Noir (35%) and Chardonnay (55%), with a splash of Pinot Meunier as before. It's young and fresh, with crisp apple fruit flavors in a compact, well-defined frame. There is clearly some aging potential, though where the flavors will go from here is anyone's guess. (PG)" (12/2020)
Price: $24.99

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Champagne has the necessary bottle age for its bone-dry character to be softened and given great complexity. The wine’s freshness and apple fruits are palpable but they have attractive nutty hints that make this fine bottling ready to drink. (RV)" (12/2020) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current NV Ultra Brut is a 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir blend that is based on the 2007 vintage; it includes – as always – a reserve of the former Ultra Brut vintage, in this case 2004. In fact, the Ultra Brut is pro...

90 points Wine & Spirits: "Blended from 70 percent pinot noir, 20 percent chardonnay and the rest pinot meunier, this fine-boned sparkler has an earth tone reminiscent of pinot noir bruts. It smells of bread crust and lemon zest, with vinous flavors and zippy acids." (08/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Polished and elegantly focused, with pretty appeal and flavors of brioche and spice, lingering on the finish. (TF, Web Only-2019)" K&L Notes: Argyle Winery was founded in 1987 by Rollin Soles with the purpose of making world class Sparkling Wine in the...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The bouquet is mesmerizing with multiple layers of fragrances that include pine/cedar, quinine, fennel, white pepper, licorice, mace, allspice, sage and rosemary. An orange zest flavor appears at palate entry; midpalate finds exotic tastes of orange zest, tangerine zest, multiple herbs and spices, honey and pine. A fabulous liqueur." (05/2008) K&L Notes: This true CLASSIC is a must have for any mixologist or amateur cocktail lover. This special liqueur was released in the 19th century by French industrialist Alexandre Le...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Prosecco Brut Rose Jeio is made from equal parts Merlot and Pinot Noir. It is a fairly restrained wine with excellent balance and a refined mousse. I am not generally a fan of rose Prosecco, a category that has been created to exploit the growing popularity of both roses and sparkling wines, yet everything here works beautifully, and this is one if the very few examples that merit attention. (AG)" (08/2010) Wine Spectator: "A tangy sparkling rosé, featuring a lively bead, with ample dried white cherry and cranberr...

98 points James Suckling: "A very vinous rosé with sliced strawberry and peach aromas and flavors with a steely undertone. Hints of cream and biscuit. It’s medium-bodied, tight, linear and precise with pinpointed structure that goes straight to the center palate and carries on through the long finish. Very fine tannins provide drive and length. " (10/2020) 97 points Wine & Spirits: "Edition 24 of Krug Rosé is based on the 2012 vintage, and the exceptional harvest shows in the delicacy and evenness of the wine. This takes time to show its complexity, bu...

90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Incisively yeasty and charged with plenty of spry, mildly citrusy fruit, this comparatively elegant and refined bottling displays the brightness reminiscent of a Blanc de Blancs while quietly possessing a bit of the expected richness of a Blanc de Noirs. Balanced to crispness and buoyed by very well-integrated acidity with wonderfully persistent, pin-point bubbles to spare, it fully reflects the Schramsberg Blanc de Noirs norm of being far more concerned with grace and finesse than with full-volume, toasty extravagance." (1...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "First nosing passes pick up incredibly zesty and harmonious aromas of dill, fennel and pepper; another seven minutes sees the bouquet turn elegant, oaky and herbal. Palate entry is semisweet, with deft traces of caramel and vanilla; by midpalate the flavors include marzipan, hard candy, dried herbs, green pepper and vanilla. Finish is long, luxurious and stately." (06/2006)
Price: $129.99

93 points Wine Spectator: "Aromatic pastry dough, crème de cassis, apple blossom and graphite notes are well-meshed in this elegant Champagne. The delicate mousse swathes the finely wrought acidic frame in a creamy texture, carrying accents of chalky mineral and lemon pith on the lingering finish. Disgorged April 2018. (AN)" (12/2019)
