96-97 points James Suckling: "The complexity and depth is fantastic in this beautifully crafted, refined red. Such poise, finesse and length. Yet dense and very compacted. Love the texture precision. Goes on and on. Best ever?" (05/2020) 93-95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Véronique Dausse continues to lift the quality at this estate. Her 2019 Château Phelan Segur reveals a dense purple color as well as a rich, full-bodied, powerful style on both the nose and palate. Loads of chocolaty dark fruits, roasted herbs, licorice, and graphite all emerge from the glass...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru from Joseph Drouhin was another Clos-de-Bèze (alongside that of Chanson's) that completely surpassed its showing out of barrel. It has a clean and refined bouquet with cola-tinged red berry fruit (cranberry leaf and raspberry) with touches of rooibos and bergamot emerging just behind. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, impressive depth but with some new oak that clearly needs to be assimilated....

97 points Decanter: "This superb 2.15ha monopole, located on white clay soils just behind the winery and high on the slopes above Volnay, has made one of the great wines of the vintage in 2017. It's powerful, structured and complex, with layers of red cherry, raspberry and pomegranate fruit, sinewy tannins and pools of concentration. A stylishly oaked wine that's long, mineral and satisfying. Drinking Window 2025 - 2035. (TA) " (10/2018) 94-96 points Vinous: "The 2017 Volnay Clos des Ducs 1er Cru is the famous crown jewel monopole of the domaine, ost...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The delicate perfume is softly grainy, with nuances of white pepper, wheat crackers and cigarette tobacco. The palate entry is elegant yet a touch hot; at midpalate the dry flavor turns silky in texture and minerally and stone-like in taste. Concludes bean- and kernel-like, bittersweet and a touch soy curd-like. A subtle, understated vodka with lots of layers and grip." (06/2006) K&L Notes: Each bottle is a work of art both on the inside and on the outside. This limited edition Russian Vodka has unbelievable smoothness and b...

91-94 points Wine Spectator: "No Tasting Note Given." (04/2020) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An attractively layered nose combines lovely floral notes with those of citrus peel, pear and soft spice hints. The racy and tension-filled medium weight flavors possess excellent detail on the palate coating finish that is at once clean, dry and, minerally and youthfully austere. I would further observe that this is a wine that has made considerable progress over the last 10 years, and the 2018 is only the latest confirmation of that progress. In s...

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Haut-Bailly is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Very deep garnet-purple colored, it has a wonderfully spicy nose of cinnamon stick, cloves, anise and fenugreek with core of roses, warm blueberries, black forest cake and black raspberries plus hints of underbrush and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied with firm, ripe, grainy tannins, it has oodles of freshness and great finesse, continuing bright and energetic on the long, minerally finish. (LPB)" (04/...

97 points Decanter: "Super-restrained cassis fruit with an almost blueberry maturity in front of violet, clove and blond tobacco spiciness. Retasting the wine the next day, it shines with graphite minerality, pure leather, and a touch of lemon thyme. Creamy and full on the palate, it has refined and meaty tannins, with lively acidity and great balance overall. You would not think this wine was aged in 100% new French oak for 18 months because of the great fruit concentration on display, but the top quality of the oak used is evident. The potential of Sol...

98 points Decanter: "Super-ripe with an expressive plum and dark chocolate aroma. Rich opulence backed by dark chocolate intensity and spicy tannic grip – big and bold on the finish. Voluptuous with fabulous richness, big and bold on the finish. This is one for the long haul but it’s already very impressive. (RM) " (05/2018) 98 points Vinous: "The 2016 Dow’s Vintage Port is based around the Vinha dos Ecos vineyard behind Bomfim, populated predominantly by mature Touriga Franca vines that were cropped at just 0.68kg per vine. It has a quite astonishing ...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe and spicy, showing lemon and hazelnut aromas and flavors surrounded by exotic spices and mineral. Has balance and a lovely creamy texture, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and toast. " (09/2008) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "From 75 year old vines. Intense green fruit and white flower aromas jump from the glass to reveal rich, full, silky and refined medium full flavors built on a base of minerality and in particular, the precision of the bone dry finish is stunning. I very much like this as it's as classy an...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Stylish wine, balanced, intensely elegant. It has freshness and also weight, encased in a structure that is poised, beautifully integrating black currant fruit and chocolate flavors. " (04/2011) 93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "**Two Stars** Vying for top honors with the wonderfully rich Chateau Lynch Bages, Pichon Longueville Lalande is an outstanding claret of real pedigree whose immense, optimally ripe fruit and richness come with near-perfect balance. Big-bodied but graceful even as its ample tannins take hold, it shows un...

98 points Decanter: "After sitting out the 2014 vintage, Andrea Costanti calls 2015 a beautiful year and one of the best in the history of Brunello. He deemed it exceptional enough to craft a Riserva (to be released in 2021) yet his classic Brunello hasn't suffered for it. In fact, it's one of the greatest successes of the vintage. Gorgeous, seductive aromas are already expressive but still youthful. Cherry and plum are enveloped by exotic spice and a faint smokiness. The palate is plush and velvety with layers of powdery tannins that build, and tangy ac...

98 points James Suckling: " The aromas of dried flowers, stones, dark tea leaves, hot tile, and dark berries. Full-bodied, yet tight and linear. Wonderful drive and depth. An extremely long and focused finish. A great wine. Needs four or five years to come together. Try in 2022. " (09/2018) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This is full of enticing blackberry, blueberry and plum flavors, with a spine of acidity, iron accents and beefy tannins. Long and well-proportioned, this needs time to integrate. Tobacco and spice hints detail the finish. (BS)" (12/2018) ...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock & Stein" Central Coast MagnumTasting Lot (OWC), including 1-bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stein" Central Coast Grenache (1.5L) (97RP, (95-97VN)) and 1-bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah (1.5L) (98RP, 96VN). Of the 2012 Sine Qua Non "Stock" Central Coast Syrah (1.5L),Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "A step up from the Grenache, the blockbuster-styled 2012 Syrah Stock checks in as a blend of 84% Syrah, 7% Grenache, 6% Petit Sirah, and the rest Viognier and Mourvedre, that was fermented with 32% whole clusters and aged in just over half new French oak. It offers stunning notes of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked meats, ground pepper and wild herbs to go with a full-bodied, unctuous, layered, yet always graceful and elegant feel on the palate. Nicely structured, with perfect overall balance, it still has the open-knit character of the vintage, yet has plenty of underlying structure, which at the moment is slightly

Bid on this magnum of 2017 Next Of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Numero Tres" Central Coast Touriga Nacional (1.5L) (98RP, (95-97VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This cuvée comes entirely from the Krankl’s “home” vineyard—the Cumulus vineyard—from a small, one-acre 2008 planting. The 2017 Touriga Nacional Numero Tres is a blend of 80% Touriga Nacional, 8% Petite Sirah, 6% Syrah and 6% Grenache using 44% whole clusters. It spent around 33 months in French oak barrels, 60% new. Very deep garnet-purple, the nose is a little reticent to begin, offering broody tar, new leather and fertile loam suggestions before giving way to come-hither scents of baked black plums, blackberry pie, dark chocolate, candied violets, pencil lead, menthol and dried roses. The first thing that hits you on the decadent, full-bodied palate is the texture—like stroking a kitten in your mouth. Wonderful freshness electrifies the bright, crunchy black fruits, developing into a long-lingering perfumed finish. Stunning! Wh

Bid on this magnum of 1997 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (95VN, 94RP, 93WE, 93WS). Vinous: "Saturated ruby-red. Multidimensional nose offers a panoply of scents: black plum, currant, leather, smoked meat, cigar ash, lead pencil, sandalwood, dark chocolate, licorice, brown sugar. Very bright and sharply defined; flavors of plum, leather, hot stones and lead pencil. An impeccably balanced wine of compelling sweetness, but rather dominated today by its structure. Strong, thoroughly ripe tannins spread out to coat the entire palate. Very long and subtle. (ST)" (05/2000)

Bid on this magnum of 1995 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (1.5L) (96JS, 95WS, 94RP). James Suckling: "I always loved this wine from the first time I tasted it in 1998. It has such purity and power yet it's reserved and beautiful. It's one of the best Calons ever. I drank a bottle with some friends in Manhattan last week and it was the wine of the evening. It was full-bodied with silky tannins and a focused and intense finish. Lots of currant and berry character and hints of dried spices. It's finally opening up and giving real pleasure now like so many 1995 Bordeaux at the moment." (06/2016)

Bid on this magnum of 2017 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 11'' Central Coast Red Blend (1.5L) (97RP, (94-96VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Next of Kyn is the label of Elaine and Manfred Krankl (owners/creators of Sine Qua Non), based entirely on fruit from their home vineyard in Oakville, called Cumulus vineyard. This 2017 vintage is composed of 48% Syrah, 24.8% Grenache, 10.6% Petite Sirah, 12.7% Mourvèdre, 1.7% Roussanne and 2.2% Petit Manseng, using 23% whole clusters. It spent around 32 months in French oak barrels, 68% new. The deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cumulus Vineyard No. 11 prances out of the glass with fragrant, provocative scents of cinnamon stick, potpourri, dusty soil and pencil shavings over an emerging core of wild blueberries, Morello cherries, baked black plums and mulberries plus a suggestion of incense. Full-bodied, the palate is both voluptuous and elegant, with refreshing acidity and super-plush tannins making this so tempting to drink

" (09/2018) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is the flagship wine from Luca Sanjust's Petrolo estate located not too far from Arezzo in the Valdarno area of eastern Tuscany. The 2016 Galatrona is indeed a masterpiece to behold. This wine offers thick layering and ...

Bid on this magnum of 2013 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (100JS, 97RP, 97VN). James Suckling: "The greatest Opus ever. Terrific aromas of crushed black currants, blueberries and flowers with hints of sweet tobacco. Roses continue to exude opulence and class. Full body, superb balance of ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Complex aftertaste of black fruits and citrus fruit. Extremely persistent. So approachable now and enjoyable. But will be even better in 2019 and beyond. 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec. This will always be beautiful to drink." (09/2016)

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The aroma features fig, prune, pastry dough, honey and maple scents. On palate, Louis XIII offers long and intensely woody flavors; additional layers of flavor, including figs, dates, prunes, dried apricot and vanilla, are featured at midpalate. Finishes elegantly, warm, smooth and more oaky than fruity succulent. Only minor rancio." (10/2007) K&L Notes: Blended from 1,200 eaux-de-vie exclusively from the Grande Champagne region, and aged up to 100 years in century-old tierçon barrels, LOUIS XIII is one of the rarest spir...

Bid on this magnum of 2012 Myriad "Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard - Elysian Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (OWC - 99RP, (92-94ST), 93VN, 93WS, 92JS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Elysian Reserve is certainly a puff and a whisper away from pure perfection. Absolutely compelling Cabernet Sauvignon (100% of that varietal), the wine has an opaque purple color, a beautiful set of aromatics that include a spring flower garden, blueberry, mulberry and blackberry fruit, a glorious display of fruit, flawlessly integrated wood tannin, alcohol and acidity. The finish goes on for a good 40-50 seconds. These are not wimpish wines at 15.1% alcohol, but that’s well-concealed, and makes a mockery of the high-octane, anti-alcohol, pleasure police who would rather pontificate than actually taste. This is a modern-day classic and a tour de force. … I found it hard to spit this one out. (RP)" (10/2014)

Bid on this magnum of 2010 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (OWC - 99RP, 98VN, 94JS, 93WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine flirting with perfection is the 2010 Vecina, the nearby neighbor of Harlan Estate on the western hills overlooking the Oakville Corridor, and further south, Yountville. A Graves-like effort, it displays notes of burning embers, scorched earth, creme de cassis, and charcoal. Primordial, dense, rich, full-bodied, masculine and backward, this is another example of a wine built for half a century of cellaring. Forget it for 7-10 years and watch the pleasure unfold thereafter. (RP)" (10/2013)

Bid on this magnum of 2005 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (98RP, 95JS, 95VN, 92CG, 92WE, 91W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot (note that rarely is any Merlot utilized at the historic Napanook Estate in Yountville). The alcohol, by California standards, is a relatively modest 14.1%. Blending the best of French savoir faire with the brilliant fruit purity and ripeness of Napa Valley, Moueix has turned in another tour de force that seems far superior today than it did when it was first released. This is one of the vintage’s greatest wines. Dense purple and youthful, with a glorious nose of earth, blackcurrants, sweet black cherries and incense, the oak is pushed way in the background, as it is in all of the Moueix wines, and the result is a wine of terroir, of great originality and authenticity. This full-bodied classic from Dominus can be drunk now, but really won’t hit its prime for another 4-5 yea

Bid on this magnum of 2010 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (97WE, 96VN, 95RP, 94CG, 94WS, 93JS). Wine Enthusiast: "This is, as always, a gorgeous wine, rich, balanced and delicious. It shows classic Napa Valley ripeness, with blackberry jam, plum, dark chocolate and sweet oak flavors. Plush and velvety doesn’t begin to do it justice. Despite its fabulous lushness, this is a wine to age. Depending on your taste, it will provide excellence from now until 2030. *Cellar Selection*" (12/2013)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2010 Mark Herold "Herold by Mark Herold" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (97RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In most vintages there are less than 200 cases of the top cuvee, the Cabernet Sauvignon Herold by Mark Herold. The 2010 is another 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, in this case from both the Coombsville and Oakville AVAs. A massive Cabernet, it offers plenty of blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit intertwined with hints of incense, charcoal, graphite and toasty oak. This full-bodied effort is very much in the style of the Merus Cabernet Sauvignons that first launched Mark Herold’s career as a winemaker. This big, balls-to-the-walls style of Cabernet is not for everybody, but it exhibits exceptional purity, richness and length. It should drink well for two decades or more. Mark Herold, a well-known consultant, first came to my attention because of the brilliant wines he produced under the name Merus, a brand that has been sold. He now fashio

Ringleader Vodka from Backwards Distilling Company in Wyoming is distilled from scratch, in the style of an old-world vodka, where the character of the base grain is not entirely lost to distillation and filtration. The 100% red winter wheat recipe imparts a slight sweetness to this vodka and the yeast strain used creates a relatively rich and slightly creamy mouthfeel for a vodka. While this spirit boasts a distinct character, it remains mixable in a variety of cocktails, favoring citrus based ingredients over savory ingredients.

Bid on this magnum of 2012 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (97JD, 97JS, 96RP, 96VN, 95CG, 95WE, 93WS). James Suckling: "Amazing aromas of blueberry, blackberry, mineral and bark. Complex nose. Full body plus super integrated tannins with superb balance and depth. Coffee and chocolate too. Very long and mind-bending. A tribute to the vintage. Drink or hold. A long life ahead of it. " (07/2015)

Bid on this magnum of 2014 Rhys "Porcupine Hill" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L) (95RP, 94JG, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming from the high density plantings done by the team at Rhys (it's also a cellar selection as well), the 2014 Pinot Noir Porcupine Hill Bearwallow Vineyard is another best to date cuvee and is easily the most concentrated and lengthy of the three cuvees from this site. Black raspberries, black cherries, tons of minerality and ground herbs emerge from this young, tight and beautifully focused red that needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will drink beautifully over the following decade or more. (JD)" (10/2016)

Bid on this magnum of 1980 Freemark Abbey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L). Freemark Abbey boasts that they have "the most extensive collection of library Cabernets of any Napa Valley winery," and the 1980 is the oldest release available from their library. But the 750ml tops $100, making this magnum (the better choice for aging this delicate, underrated vintage from among Napa's top producers in the 1980s) a fine choice.

Bid on this magnum of 2006 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (93JS, 92RP, 92ST, 92WS, 91CG). James Suckling: "This is really powerful on the nose, with reduced aromas of blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Full bodied, with loads of velvety tannins and a thick, jammy after taste. But it's balanced and pretty. Give it two to three years of bottle age. " (02/2011)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2014 Sea Smoke "Southing" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir (1.5L) (92WE, 91WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Crisp boysenberry and black raspberry aromas meet with lthyme, oregano and a touch of caramelization on the nose of this Sea Smoke bottling. Dark cranberry fruit shows on the palate, lifted by anise, pepper and an array of herbs, all framed by a leathery texture. (MK)" (04/2017)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2013 Pahlmeyer Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (96JS, 96RP, 94VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolute stunner is the 2013 Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Malbec and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This is all mountain fruit from primarily the Stagecoach Vineyard and another site in Rancho Chimiles. Beautiful floral, smoky, blackcurrant notes mixed with acacia flowers and forest floor jump from the glass of this dense, full-bodied, concentrated and age-worthy wine. Like most 2013s, this is a 30-year wine with remarkable concentration, color and fruit extract. Forget it for another 3-4 years, and drink it over the following 30+ years. (RP)" (12/2016)

99 points James Suckling: "Superb wine here, offering aromas of dark berries, tobacco, tar, blackberries and black cherries. It changes all the time and is very complex with hints of meat. On the palate it's full-bodied and very well refined, showing wonderful tannin tension and polished texture. It closes with an amazing finish that lasts for minutes and turns to pure fruit. Better in 2018 but a fabulous young wine to taste now. A modern example of the legendary 1997 but more elegant." (08/2015)
