2007 du Val d'Or, St-Emilion (1.5L)
Top Pick!
Here is a fine find from the Right Bank. Founded in 1704, this 14-hectare estate run by the Bardet family is located on gravelly/clay soils that impart depth and complexity to the wine. 86% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. We just discovered this property in 2019, and we have already sold quite a bit of their 1995 and 1996. Super old-school label for an “old school” property. This wine has lots of red berry aromas and flavors. It really opens up with some decanting.

This gift pack contains 1 x 200ml each of Caol Ila 12, Clynelish 14, and Talisker 10. Classic malts gift packs are always such a fun way to try some of Scotland's most renowned distilleries, but we usually don't stock them due to the premium the small sizes usually command on price terms. But we've been lucky enough to secure a huge quantity of these packs at 50% off their standard retail price, which coupled with the massive price increases on these same malts in the standard size, has made these gift packs one of the absolute best deals we've seen out...

2007 Labegorce Zede, Margaux (1.5L)
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "From 2009, Labégorce-Zédé will no longer exist, being amalgamated with Château Labégorce-Margaux. So this 2007 is one of the last vintages. The wine has solid but lively black fruits, the tannins dark, firm and full of blackberry juice flavors with a touch of cranberry dryness. It is definitely for aging. (RV)" (06/2010) Wine Spectator: "Delicate aromas of currant and flowers follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and an aftertaste of licorice and delicate berry. Fresh and elegant. (JS, Web Only-2010)" K&L Notes...

This easy-drinking vodka from the lovely little distillery in the town of the same name is a new twist on craft vodka. They begin by purchasing organic wheat and grape distillate. Then they ferment and distill their own rye and cracked red wheat. Each component is passed through their micro-column still separately before being blended to create a subtle yet distinctive meld of the four distillates. The whole lot is proofed down with deep well water from the property, which is fed by the Russian River tributary. The result is a vodka with a little bit of ...

One of Italy's finest spirits producers, truly in a class of its own, Luxardo Amaretto puts the others products in this category to shame. It's an incredibly versatile product that you must taste to believe and now's your chance because this product is half of its normal retail price and we have the lowest price in the country.

93 points James Suckling: "Opulence and richness come through here as well as a currant and berry character. Even so, there's an underlying firmness that gives this structure and energy." (12/2016) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Exhibits a rich, tapered core of dark berry, anise, cedar and loamy earth, with firm yet rounded tannins that support the fruit mix, giving this traction and depth. Drink now through 2028." 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Brandlin Estate (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dense purple color,...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The rich, tannic 2015 Lirac Baron Louis spent a year in barrel, a year in tank and a year in bottle prior to release. It offers up scents of leather, cedar and vanilla, but it balances out the oak with dark fruit notes of cola, plum and spice. It's full-bodied and velvety on the palate, while hints of licorice emerge on the lengthy finish. This wine has clearly emerged as one of the top Liracs. (JC)" (11/2018) K&L Notes: An 88-acre estate, Château de Montfaucon sits just across the Rhône River from the esteemed...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Barbaresco is a tight and beautiful wine that will require more time to unwind and soften. This beautifully balanced vintage is characterized by a tight inner core of fruit that underlines the graceful aging capacity of these wines. The 2016 is shaping up to be one destined for long cellar aging. Now in its youth, the wine offers wild berry, rose and licorice aromas. (ML)" (06/2019) 95 points Wine & Spirits: "This is Produttori del Barbaresco’s flagship wine, produced with fruit selected from their 54 ...

James Suckling: "Lots of ripe strawberries, with juicy orange and chalky mineral notes. Sweet red fruit on the palate with a juicy acidity and fine ripe tannins. Medium-full body and a pleasant medium-long finish with nice red fruit. Elegant. Second wine of Prieur de Meyney." (10/2011) Wine Spectator: "Offers a solid core of plum, currant paste and steeped cherry notes wrapped tightly with charcoal thread and dark briar patch and tobacco leaf notes. A bit rugged overall, but shows solid range and character. Drink now through 2020. (JM, Web Only-2013)" ...

This is THE book if you want to know anything and everything there is to know about Chartreuse. For years only available in French, it has finally been translated into English and released in tiny quantities by Chartreuse's importer. Written by Martine Galiano, Philip Boyer, Christian Delafon, Antoine Munoz, Jean-Marc Roget and with contribution from Philippe Bonnard. Released in hardcover and printed in stunning color, this book is worth it just for the gorgeous photos alone, not to mention the incredibly researched history. The entire back portion is g...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This seven-year-old small batch whiskey is a powerhouse. Oak and vanilla aromas skew sweet. The palate is deep and dark, silky and spicy, showing cocoa and espresso. Adding water doubles down on the espresso notes, bringing clove and black pepper forward into a big, grippy finish that sings with spice. *Best Buy* (KN)" (06/2020) 90 points Whisky Advocate: "Wheated bourbon fans will enjoy this wheat whiskey with its distinctly bourbon nose of sweet cornbread and new oak, topped off with mint and pine aromas. It starts soft on...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Château Sixtine is the finest vintage of this cuvée ever made, surpassing the 2003, 2007, and 2010. Deep purple/ruby-colored, with a full-bodied, deep, powerful bouquet of blackcurrants, ground pepper, crushed violets, and spice, it's full-bodied, has a voluptuous, powerful texture, sweet tannin, and a great, great finish, all while staying light and graceful. A blend of 50% Grenache and 25% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, it’s going to keep for two decades." (08/2018) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Sappy a...

2007 Malescasse, Haut-Medoc (1.5L)
Top Pick!
Jancis Robinson: "Already a bit of evolution on the nose! Sweet, Earl Grey tea character. Mild and with sufficient gentle fruit on the mid palate though pretty chewy on the finish. 16/20" (04/2008) K&L Notes: Château Malescasse is an historic property ideally situated on gravel soils close to the Gironde River just north of Margaux. While it is true that 2007 will never have the power or authority of the finest vintages of the decade, the best wines display a remarkable ripeness and an admirable richness of texture. These are medium to full-bodied reds...

94 points James Suckling: "So many spices line the nose here including cinnamon, cardamom, aniseed and walnuts. But there’s no shortage of red plums and dried cherries either. Balanced and suave, this is a sophisticated Brunello with a sleek frame of tannins and subtle yet persistent acidity. Drink in 2021." (10/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Castello Banfi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is fragrant and bright. Aromas of wild cherry, blackberry and plum emerge from the glass with spice, tar and licorice following close in tow. The uni...

93-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another winner from Margaux is the 2018 Château Labégorce, which is an interesting blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (although I was given slightly different blends for the two samples tasted). Aging in 40% new oak, this deeply colored effort offers a beautiful perfume of blueberries, raspberries, flowers, and spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, has remarkable purity, and fine tannins, and should be approachable right out of the gate. It’s worth mentioning this ...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The silky 2016 Côtes du Rhône is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault and Counoise. Cherries, garrigue and leather notes all come together in this medium to full-bodied but gentle, elegant wine. It's smooth from start to finish, with fine-grained tannins and hints of thyme that emerge on the finish. (JC)" (11/2018) Wine Spectator: "Gently mulled cherry and plum fruit glides through, with hints of warm fruitcake and melted red licorice. Offers a fruit-filled, modestly juicy finish. Drink now. (JM)" (11...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Broad and complex, delivering plum, black cherry, almond, leather and earth flavors. The tannins are dusty and well-integrated, while vibrant acidity keeps the flavors pumping through the long finish. (BS)" (08/2019) 92 points James Suckling: " A solid red with dusty, firm tannins and beautiful dark fruit and cedar undertones. Shows depth and intensity. Prefer in 2020 when the tannins and acidity will come together better, but already energetic and pretty. " (07/2019) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here's a great...

100 points James Suckling: "This is the greatest Cheval des Andes ever. Discrete aromas of blackberries, flowers, stone and licorice. So perfumed. The integration of fruit, tannins and acidity is fantastic. Full-bodied, tight and solid with beautiful depth and integrity. Extremely long and exciting. Complex and compelling with such refinement and length." (04/2020) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2017 saw an early harvest, but they started picking on the 6th of March and continued until the 10th of April, more or less normal dates, early but ...

2016 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Top Pick!
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure perfection, the prodigious 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select reveals an even deeper purple/blue hue as well as extraordinary notes of unsmoked tobacco, crushed rocks, graphite, crème de cassis, and blueberries. With a massive, full-bodied profile and a texture that builds incrementally on the palate, it has a stacked mid-palate, ultra-fine (yet lots of them) tannins, flawless balance, and a monster of a finish. It’s tight and closed at the moment, so hide bottles for a solid 7-8 years. It should age at a glacier pace."...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "The opening aroma is marvelously beany and grassy; later, sweetish flavors of dark caramel, chimney soot, and dark, old honey make scrumptious inhaling. The palate entry is honeyed, warm, and cocoa-like; at midpalate the grassy, weedy, cane-like taste balances the honeyed sweetness. Concludes cocoa-like, intense yet smooth, and memorably sweet. *Best Buy*" (06/2006)

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The delicate perfume is softly grainy, with nuances of white pepper, wheat crackers and cigarette tobacco. The palate entry is elegant yet a touch hot; at midpalate the dry flavor turns silky in texture and minerally and stone-like in taste. Concludes bean- and kernel-like, bittersweet and a touch soy curd-like. A subtle, understated vodka with lots of layers and grip. 92 points Vinous: "Round Pond's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford is attractive, even if it is at times a bit monolithic. The dark cherry, plum, smoke, menthol and tobacco flavors speak with baritone intensity. Powerful and resonant in the glass, the 2015 has more than enough depth and persistence to drink well for a number of years. Its biggest competition, quite frankly, comes from some of the other wines in the range. (AG)" (03/2018) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft and supple in milk chocolate and cherry, this wine contains 2% Petit Verdot. Dried ...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This luscious, ripe wine is both balanced and generous. Acidity comes from the freshness of the vintage, bringing out fruitiness to complement the tannins. The wine will develop well. (RV)" (01/2020) 90-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Château Siran should certainly be an outstanding wine. Giving up lots of black fruits, charcoal, and graphite notes, it’s medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and with solid ripeness and depth. It’s an impressive effort from Margaux." (04/2018) 93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Siran has tu...

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another in a string of top vintages, Beaucastel's 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape was produced from Grenache yields of only eight hectoliters per hectare ("normal" is about 28 hectoliters per hectare, according to Marc Perrin). The final blend I was shown is almost candied in its fruity intensity of raspberries and cherries, yet it has a potent underpinning of more savory elements, like tapenade, grilled meat and dried spices. Full-bodied, with fine, silky tannins, this shows tremendous length, reverberating with hin...

There's no wine like Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2017 vintage shows in spades what this brand is all about. Luxurious opulence on an unrivaled scale defines this wine year in and year out. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing Enrico Scavino's signature at the bottom of the label, this is a classic expression of Barolo. There is something for everyone, especially die-hard Nebbiolo lovers, with energy, power, aromatic finesse and elegant tannins. 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Much more fruit loaded and rounded than the Santa Cruz Mountains release, the 2013 Pinot Noir San Mateo County comes mostly from the Family Farm vineyard, with a touch from Horseshoe. It gives up lots of strawberry, Bing cherry, spice, and floral nuances to go with beautiful fruit and texture on the palate. It's one of the most approachable Pinots in the lineup, but I suspect it will still have another 5-7 years of longevity. 95 points Decanter: "Precision is so often the mark of Haut-Bailly, and that is what you get here: layers of carefully extracted black fruits, finely balanced, walking the tightrope, given extra complexity by smoked cedar and cloves. The estate found the same levels of concentration as in 2000, helped by close-crop thinning down to 39hl/ha (by no means over-concentration levels, but lower than usual). This is clearly a long-term wine. (JA)" (09/2018) 92 points James Suckling: "Some might prefer this to the excellent 2000. It’s just as dense and rich bu...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The sweet corn aroma right after the pour is enticing, clean, and soft; aeration further stimulates an appetizing corn-like sweetness. The palate entry is more bittersweet than the aroma, but just as seductive; at midpalate there's a focused lead-pencil taste that brings the grainy sweetness into check. Finishes sweet, warming and a tad prickly. Best Buy." (06/2006) K&L Notes: Special order items are not in stock and are dependent upon quantity available from distribution. Joël Taluau was a fabulous grower in St. Nicolas de Bourgueil known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, unmarred by the intrusion of oak--which he hadn't used in production since 1986. He was also the first producer in the appellation to begin domaine bottling. The Vieilles Vignes, from a single plot of Cabernet Franc planted in 1934, is prized for its power, depth and grace. This flagship wine is meant to age, and this one is really coming into its own.

The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. It has a big, cedary bouquet of red and black plums, sandalwood, potpourri, and Asian spices that develops and fills out nicely with time in the glass. This carries to a more medium-bodied Zinfandel that has wonderful purity of fruit, present yet ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This structu...
