2016 Copain "Tous Ensemble" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (Elsewhere $25) (Elsewhere $25)
Top Pick!
Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 100% Chardonnay, the 2016 Chardonnay Tous Ensemble is a juicy, clean, crisp expression of Chardonnay. From the Cloud Landing and Carneros Hills West vineyards, its classic bouquet of lemon curd, rose petal, salty minerality, and earth all give way to a medium-bodied, fresh, lively, Chablis look-alike." (06/2018) K&L Notes: Copain has a long history of crafting some of California's most memorable wines. These are truly elegant, balanced bottlings that excel when paired with food and are known for their ageability. The "Tous Ensem...

91 points James Suckling: "A tangy and delicious white with cooked apple, lemon rind and orange zest character. Medium body, bright finish. Very pretty wine. Always a vivid Chardonnay. " (05/2017) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "This Chardonnay is from the first vines Errázuriz planted in Manzanar, nine miles off the Pacific Coast. Now ten years old, they produced a wine with vivid white fruit flavors, spice notes and firm acidity that creates a vertical impression to the structure." 2016 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (Elsewhere $30) (Elsewhere $30)
Top Pick!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "'I want this to be an appellation wine,' Jeffrey Patterson says. 'This is a blend of all the Chardonnay we grow at Domaine Eden plus some declassified fruit from our Mount Eden estate, about 35% this vintage.' The 2016 Chardonnay Estate features aromas of acacia, honeyed apples, wet stone, white peach and lemon pith with notions of cheese rind and straw. Medium-bodied, it's very lively in the mouth with savory fruits, juicy acidity and a long, energetic and lightly textured finish. (EB)" (02/2020) 92 points Win...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The eponymous 2016 Tricó is a classic Albariño from 25- to 35-year-old vineyards on poor granite soils that give low yields. The full clusters are pressed, then the juice is let to settle before fermenting at low temperature with neutral yeasts. This stays at least one year in tank before it's bottled. These are serious and subtle wines, not exuberant or showy, with good ripeness and very high compensating acidity, but the wines don't feel acidic. This has the advantage of time and has developed further complexit...

93 points Vinous: "The 2016 Chardonnay Estate is a terrific introduction to the Stonestreet Chardonnays. Citrus, apricot, mint and a dash of new oak add nuance to this finely cut mountain Chardonnay. The Estate Chardonnay is another wine that delivers serious quality for the money. Silky and textured, the 2016 hits all the right notes. What a gorgeous wine it is. (AG) " (07/2018) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Chardonnay Estate is another wine sourced from higher elevation sites and was barrel fermented and aged. It offers a classic style in its bake...

2015 Finca Allende Rioja Blanco
Back In Stock!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Allende Blanco, mostly Viura with some Malvasía Riojana (Alarije), fermented with indigenous yeasts in new French oak barrels, where it aged with the lees and bâtonnage twice per week for seven months and a further seven months without the lees after it was racked. It has a classical oaked white Rioja nose, with some nutty undertones, spice, dried flowers and a hint of petrol. The palate has focused, intense flavors, and the oak is nicely integrated. 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2017....

2015 Silkman "Reserve" Semillon Hunter Valley New South Wales

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another vibrant expression of the native Friulano variety, the 2016 Friuli Isonzo Friulano La Vila is luminous and transparent, just an all-around beautiful wine. It opens to a harmony of Golden Delicious apple and pear, a creamy mouthfeel and medium structure that concludes with salty minerality. Pair it with any poultry dish or even a veal schnitzel. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels on the lees for 11 months. (ML)" (08/2019) 93 points Vinous: "Medium dark-yellow. Arom...

93-94 points James Suckling: "A very tangy and bright white with intense white peach, grapefruit and mineral character. Full body, crisp acidity. Gorgeous. One of the best Carbonnieux ever. " (04/2014) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fresh, fruity and fragrant, this wine has a pure line of acidity and crisp citrus alongside its tangy texture. The tightness shows its aging potential; drink from 2020. Founded in the 13th century by Benedictine monks, Château Carbonnieux is one of the oldest estates in the Bordeaux region. In 1956, Marc Perrin purchased the c...

93 points James Suckling: "This is a very impressive food-wine. The discreet candied lemon and lime notes are underlined by the French oak and the medium-full palate is dry, but silky with a long, refined finish. Named after the plot where the viura vines of the estate are grown." (08/2018) 92 points Vinous: "Other than the rare Castillo de Ygay, whose next potential vintage could be 1998, the one white produced at Marqués de Murrieta is the 2014 Capellanía. It's pure Viura from the vineyard inside the estate that names the wine, six hectares planted i...

98 points James Suckling: "The aromas of stone, lime and flowers are amazing. Full body, great depth of fruit and tightness. Muscular yet agile. It is a subtle wine showing great complexity. Intense mineral. Tightly wound. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. " (09/2015) 96 points Vinous: "Straw-yellow with a golden tinge. Anise and green apple with a hint of pear on the enticing, powerful nose. Fresh yet very dense, tactile and rich, with lemony acidity lifting the potent chamomile, orange marmalade, spice and stone flavors. The expansive, very pure...

2016 Carbonnieux Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Top Pick!
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lightly herbal, this is a crisp and bright wine. The strong structural element will allow the wine to age, with a textured character and perfumed acidity at the end. (RV)" (03/2019) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Very fresh, with lovely verbena, honeysuckle and jasmine notes leading the way, backed by racy meringue, yellow apple and melon rind flavors, showing a very late flash of oyster shell detail. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese (AP 08 17) is discreet and smoky on the deep, well-defined nose. Juicy-piquant and salty on the well-structured and refreshingly mineral palate, the Himmelreich is tight and expressive, with the sweetness superbly balanced by the spicy, grippy phenols/minerals. This is a really complex Spätlese that is highly stimulating today and will still be so in 20 or 30 years. (SR)" (04/2018) 94 points John Gilman: "The 2016 AP #8 Spätlese from the Himmelreich is another wine that I ...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Chalky at first, the 2016 Chardonnay takes its time to reveal citrus blossoms, lime peel, crushed stone, apricots and pure lemon and apple fruit with dusty, minerally nuances. The palate walks a wonderful line of pure, ripe fruits and fresh citrusy and rocky accents. It has a silky texture, tangy lift and a very long, nuanced finish. This has the stuffing and structure to be very long lived. (EB) 95+" (06/2020) K&L Notes: HdV is a venture between the Hyde Family of Napa Valley and the de Villaine Family of Burg...

96 points Sam Kim: "The bouquet is gorgeous and expressive, showing white flesh stone fruit, rockmelon and nougat characters with a subtle infusion of vanillin/cedary oak. The palate is concentrated and flavoursome, delivering excellent weight and rounded mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by creamy texture and bright acidity. The wine offers splendid energy and presence with a persistent silky finish. At its best: now to 2025." (08/2017) 95 points Bob Campbell: "Quite a rich, full-flavoured and complex chardonnay with grapefruit, white peach, toasted...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A vintage Jean Louis thinks is best for drinking today, the 1997 Hermitage Blanc is elegant and silky, with the classic minerality, honeyed citrus, orange blossom and licorice characteristics these wines always show at maturity. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and seamless, it still has plenty of mid-palate depth and should continue drinking nicely for another 5-10 years, but don't hold off too long here. (JD)" (09/2015) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Complex, pure aromas of peach, appl...

97 points James Suckling: "Aromas of cooked pear, apple and white pineapple follow through to a full body with incredible dryness and a mineral finish. White pepper and oyster shell too. This is so serious and unforgiving yet a phenomenon. Owners say it is the driest Fred ever." (09/2015) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of Trimbach's top wines, this impressive Riesling, with all its bottle time, is maturing beautifully. It has that petrol character that is typical of aged Riesling, as well as a strong sense of steeliness and intense acidity on the fini...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a terrific expression of this versatile French grape. The 2016 Friuli Isonzo Chardonnay Jurosa is fairly structured but lightweight in the mouth, with brilliant energy and an open, zesty personality. Orchard fruit, ripe peach, toasted nut, lemon mousse and creamy vanilla all conspire to create the beautiful bouquet. I would suggest drinking this wine within the next few years; however, this sample has the fiber and balanced acidity to withstand some near-term aging. Some 55,000 bottles were created. (ML)"...

2006 Louis Latour Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot"
New!
88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is quite ripe though it stops short of being overtly exotic with a mix of orchard fruit aromas, white flower and a hint of wood spice that is also picked up by the very rich, full-bodied and opulent flavors that deliver solid power on the textured and supple finish. This is not a wine of finesse but it doesn't lack for punch or finishing power." (07/2008) Wine Spectator: "Concentrated flavors of honey, orange and almond mark this exotic white. It seems like there's a touch of sweetness, perhaps eve...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from Mendocino County, the 2015 Chardonnay Anderson Valley offers a riper, slightly tropical style in its aromatics, possessing lots of caramelized pineapples, orange blossom, and honeysuckle nuances, with some toasty, nutty notes developing with time in the glass. With terrific mid-palate depth and fat on the palate, as well as bright acidity and a great finish, it’s what I call a Smoking Value! It’s already impossible to resist, with a rounded feel, yet I suspect it will keep for a decade nevertheless." (08/2017) 92 poi...

The bouquet is very floral and esthery, wafting from the glass in a lovely blend of pear, tangerine, fresh almond, white lilies, a hint of crème patissière, a nice base of soil and a very discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very nicely generous on the attack, with fine focus and grip, a lovely core, bright acids and a long, complex an...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Always sold later than the red, the 2014 Viñas de Gaín Blanco is similarly a blend from different vineyards in Laguardia and Elvillar. It was partly fermented in oak for some 30 days and aged in stainless steel with lees for 24 months. It has very little influence from the élevage and is quite fruit-driven, with a lightish palate. It's quite straightforward, pleasant and easy to drink. This is a selection of the white grapes in the old vineyards. 6,000 bottles. (LG)" (06/2019) K&L Notes: White Artadi? I am shoc...

This almost-dry wine has fascinating textural complexity and clean mineral acidity, allowing the wine to carry a tiny hint of bitterness at the long dry finish." (05/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Selected and harvested at the peak of the grapes's ripeness the 2012 Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs Ribeaupierre is very clear and intensely aromatic on the fresh and nobly perfumed nose where lime and orange oil flavo...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The utterly perfect 2010 Hermitage Ex Voto Blanc is as good as it gets in Hermitage Blanc. Offering a crazy array of liquid rock-like minerality, graphite, flint, white currants, white peach and quince, it's layered, full-bodied, impeccably balanced and pure. It's a straight up tour de force that’s going to have decades of longevity. As always, the blend is 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, aged 30 months in new French oak. (AI)" (08/2018) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Beeswax and crushed pine notes are layered with poached apple, Marcona almond and lemon curd flavors in this dry, medium-bodied version, framed by sleek acidity and petrol-laced minerality. 2015 Domaine Laroche Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume" Vieilles Vignes
Top Pick!
93 points Decanter: "Fourchaume, like Montée de Tonnerre, faces west, and is one of the warmest premiers crus in Chablis. There is iron as well as limestone in the soil, which gives the wine unusual grip. The nose is reserved, even stern, and nutty rather than fruity, but that in itself is typical of fine Chablis. The palate is rich and sumptuous, very ripe and concentrated, with force and energy. It's also very mineral and spicy, with an almost saline character as well as considerable power and extract. Very long. Drinking Window 2019 - 2030. (SB)" (11/...

All the grapes for this wine come from our organically farmed estate vineyard. Our new Chardonnay blocks planted in 2010 with clones 17 and 76 have come into full production adding ripe fruit characters to the blend. These newer blocks ripen about a month earlier than our old blocks that continue to add the acidity and structure the benchmark of our Estate Chardonnay. This wine shows aromas of apple blossoms, poached pear, toasted coconut, and hints of spicy oak. Flavors of pear, stone fruit, and citrus swirl on the palate. It is medium bodied with a cre...

In the ever more popular category of skin contact white wines, Slovenia is a go-to country for reference-point examples of the kind of quality that is now populating the market. For a number of years now (since long before these wines were hip among the "cool kids"), Kabaj has been a standard bearer for the Goriska Brda appellation. The dense sandstone and slate soils are ideal for producing vibrant, electric, aromatic wines from the native white varietals of northern Italy and Slovenia. The Luisa, named for winemaker Jean-Michel Morel's grandmother, is ...

92 points Wine & Spirits: "This is young-vine malvasia grown in coastal sands on the westernmost point of the Iberian peninsula, where the region’s vineyards, once renowned for long-lived wines, have mostly been replaced by beach homes. This was fermented in stainless steel, left for four months on the lees, then racked before aging in tank for three years. It’s since grown into a plump, toasty white with scents of iodine and kelp. Pascal Gitton is the current scion at the helm of Domaine Gitton. The estate began life as a 1.5-hectare parcel near Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre that his grandmother farmed in addition to running a bistro and épicerie. From these beginnings, the total of the family’s various holdings is now close to 33 hectares. They specialize in silex (flint) soils which make up about 50% of their total holdings. Les Fredins is all from said silex showing the vibrancy that soil imparts. Notes of citrus, gooseberry and crackling minerality define the rich palate.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hexamer’s one star 2007 Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Spatlese smells of brown-spiced grilled pineapple and grapefruit; offers a luscious concentration of spiced yellow fruits on the palate; and finishes with bright citrus and tart cassis that help balance its sweetness. This is a promising candidate for two decades of cellaring, during which it should pick up complexity. (DS)" (10/2009)

To honor the 100th anniversary of this well known Rioja white, Cune decided to hit their cellars and uncork a number of vintages to see how they had aged. It turns out that the bottlings from the late 1950's to the early 1970's had aged fantastically, and the person who had made these landmark wines was none other than our friend, the legendary Ezequiel "El Brujo" García! They brought in Ezequiel, who in turn brought in his copious notes, and contributed his expertise and years of experience to the project. This Rioja white is a delicious throwback to Cu...

Winemaker's Notes: "Made in a Sancerre style, this cool climate Sauvignon Blanc retains tremendous acidity due to the high elevation growing, balanced by aromas of fresh lemon and lime zest and refreshing fruit. The acidity plays out on the edges of the palate as clean and concise, while accenting it's inherent minerality and clean finish."
