Marta Castro produces this tasty Albariño from vines located in the Salnes Valley town of Ribadumia, just a bit inland from Cambados. Given 5 months of lees ageing in the tank, this is an albariño with juicy stone fruit flavors, a round texture and well balanced acidity. Delicious, representative and good value in Albariño.

This is unique both because of the age of the vines, but also the slate component (most of the rest of the DO is granite soils). The cooler, higher elevation Condado do Tea sub-region gives rise to a fresh, precise expression of Albariño in general, and this particular site lends an intense mineral streak through the wine. It feels like a very complete and balanced year, with all that it takes to develop nicely in bottle. All of their wines are bottled without mal...

Produced at a small, 17-grower cooperative located, this Albariño comes from vines ranging in age from 50-70 years. A rarely exported version from the upper Salnès Valley, locally known as the "footprint of God," this nicely plump white still shows plenty of the varietal's trademark freshness and effortless acidic balance. Highly recommended.
