2006 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart" Brut Champagne (Previously $160) (Previously $160)
Top Pick!
97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Created in 1964 as a tribute to the house‚Äôs founder, the youngest release is the 2006 Millésime Brut Cuvée Nicolas François, a blend of 60% Pinot Noir from premier and grand crus from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne and 40% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. Almost entirely fermented in stainless steel (only 5% was vinified in oak barrels) and aged for 11 years on the lees, this is a beautifully ripe and rich yet pure champagne with ripe fruit flavors intermixed with chalky notes and bri...

2007 Billecart-Salmon "Cuvée Elisabeth" Rosé Champagne (Previously $230) (Previously $230)
Back In Stock!
97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of red berries, orange rind, dried flowers, warm brioche and spices introduce the 2007 Brut Rosé Cuvée Elisabeth, one of the highlights of this tasting chez Billecart. It's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with an enveloping attack and a bright underlying spice of acidity, revealing plenty of chalky dry extract and concentration, concluding with a long and precise finish. Despite the style of the vintage and the fact that malolactic fermentation was largely blocked, this is quite a textural, powerful wine. (...

Launois "Cuvée Reserve" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
This 100% estate grown, Grand Cru blanc de blancs is made entirely with old Chardonnay selections from Mesnil, Cramant, and Oger. This is our number one most re-purchased Champagne, and it is often sold out!

2010 Launois "Special Club" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (Ships as a 1.5L Due to Bottle Size/Shape)
Top Pick!
Without a doubt, this is one of the best Champagnes we carry at any price. Made from two plots of 65-year-old vines, one in the grand cru of Oger called "Chenys" and one in Mesnil called "Derriere Maison," this is among the ultimate expressions of Chardonnay that we have to offer. The wine shows the richness of the 2010 harvest perfectly with great ripeness but balanced by the scintillating acidity of the pure belemnita chalk. Add in the complexity from old massal-selected, Grand Cru, mid-slope sites and you have a must-buy for any Champagne lover! Becau...

Franck Bonville Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
All Champagne producers should be judged on their entry-level wine, and Olivier's is as good as they get. This is always the fastest non-vintage Champagne to sell out--so get it while we have it! The nose is effusive, with baguette, white flowers, and a nice salinity, while the flavors have a fine balance of white fruit, cream, and precise Avize chalk. Don't miss this. The Underground Wine Letter also rates this wine Outstanding Plus: "This is a terrific Champagne with great balance, flavor, and style, and it is a real value. Pale yellow in color, the wi...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aged for at least five years in the Lanson cellars before disgorgement, this is a blend of Grand Cru wines from the Côte des Blancs. It has signs of maturity in the hints of toast and almonds while showing a crisp, tightly mineral texture. It's a great food wine, very fresh with good depth of flavor. The acidity at the end is bright and refreshing. (RV)" (12/2015) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A finely detailed Champagne that marries firm acidity with tightly meshed flavors of baked yellow plum, chopped almond, pastry dough and...

This has become a go-to favorite for customers and staff alike at K&L. Priced at a level that allows for corks to pop any old time it suits you, the Montechiara phenomenon continues to gain followers by the day. See for yourself why this value sparkler is getting so much attention.

The Veuve Clemence gets four years of aging on the lees to the Reserve's three, and comes from older vineyards. They are both entirely estate-grown, Grand Cru Chardonnay. Before now, this cuvée was only available for the French market, but because of our great relationship with Launois, we were able to convince them to sell us a little. If you like it, don't hesitate--they may not have more for us the next time I order. While the wine certainly has mid-palate power, it is a dry, serious Champagne that loves to be paired with shellfish and is a wonder wit...

2007 Thiénot "Black Ball" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne (Previously $120) (Previously $120)
Top Pick!
Absolutely incredible opportunity on this creamy, supple Blanc de Blancs that still has great focus and precision and superior, long, mineral finish. Like all of the Thienot vintage wines, this bottling is entirely estate grown from the family's nearly 70 acres of vines. From the winery: "In 1985 Alain Thiénot launched his eponymous Champagne House, driven by his experience as a courtier and close-knit relationships with Champagne growers. This was quite a challenge in a sector where the greatest names began their existence as early as the 18th century. ...

Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Extra Brut Bouzy Champagne
Top Pick!
91 points Decanter: "A very complete and harmonious example, the savoury Pinot undertow of red fruit complemented by elegant Chardonnay, with a gently beguiling creamy texture. Unpretentious and quietly persuasive. (Panel Tasting)" (02/2017) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Bright and lithe, with a floral overtone to the flavors of Honeycrisp apple, biscuit and lemon meringue. The lively bead carries ground ginger and anise notes on the lingering, creamy finish. Disgorged March 2016. Drink now through 2022. (AN)" (11/2017) K&L Notes: I am incredibly excite...

This Champagne used to be called Elisabeth Goutorbe Cuvée Éclatante. Elisabeth changed the name over to her married name Egrot when she and her husband moved out of her parents' facility in Ay, and into their own. It is a 100% estate-grown, direct-import gem. Elisabeth and Jean-Marie are willing to wait for the wine to be right before selling it, and unlike any other producer we work with, their non-vintage Champagne is kept longer than the vintage. The Egrot Brut is based on 2008, with reserves from 2007, and the current batch has seen eight years on th...

Franck Bonville "Prestige" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
92 points Wine Spectator: "A rich and smoky base note of roasted nut supports flavors of lemon meringue pie, quince paste, toasted coconut and cumin, and spun honey. There's lovely creamy texture here, with finely meshed acidity throughout. (AN)" (12/2012) K&L Notes: Rated "Extraordinary" by the Underground Wine Letter, which states: "This is a gorgeous Champagne with richness, depth and complexity." Bonville's stunningly rich, creamy Blanc de Blancs has the minerality and zing that one would expect from an all-Chardonnay Champagne. The Bonvilles were ...

Launois "Quartz" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
The Quartz all comes from the famous Chettilons parcel and has four atmospheres (59 psi) of pressure instead of the normal six (88 psi). While I would be hard pressed to tell by looking at or tasting this Champagne that it has lighter carbonation, it tastes very different from the Reserve due to the wonderful vineyard site. Since less yeast and sugar were added to the wine during bottling, it has less leesy flavor, and because there is less dissolved carbon dioxide in the wine the flavors of the grapes underneath shine more. Look for flavors of apple and...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Bouzy Grand Cru Rosé Les Terres Roses XIII is a blended rosé based on the 2013 vintage (70%), completed with 2012 and 2011 plus 4% of red wine. The wine has a super pale pink color, one of the brightest I have ever seen in Champagne. The bouquet is very clear, pure, fresh and highly delicate, even with citrus flavors. Light yet intense and persistent on the palate, this is a fascinating rosé that could be enjoyed as a lovely, delicate Extra-Brut with clear focus and straight character. This is an exciting ...

Mas Codina is a 40-hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Reserva Cava was hand-harvested from 25- to 40-year-old vines and estate-bottled. Though it does not say it on the label, the current disgorgement is based entirely on the 2015 harvest. Vines are planted in calcareous and sandy clay soils which keep the wine minerally and lively. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, and is aged on its lees for a minimum of two years before disgorgement. Varietals include Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. 100%...

This wine is composed of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay from two sites that are now being used to make single vineyard wines by Antoine and Quentin Paillard. Both are from their estate in the Grand Cru of Bouzy on the south-facing slope of the mountain of Reims. The Pinot Noir comes from a plot called Les Maillerettes, which was planted in 1970, and the Chardonnay comes from Les Mottelettes, planted in 1961. Both are the mother vines for the massal selections made in-house at Champagne Pierre Paillard and both vineyards are just .8 acres. Old vines li...

Michel Arnould "La Grande Cuvée" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Pure and complex aromas speak of plenty of yeast, brioche, freshly sliced citrus and a whiff of rose petal. On the palate there is equally good complexity thanks to the high percentage of pinot noir to the medium-bodied, firm and utterly delicious flavors that are shaped by a moderately firm and fine effervescence before culminating in a refreshing and inviting finish. This isn't the most elegant Champagne you'll try but I'll wager you won't taste many that have this kind of depth for the price. " (06/2018) K&L Not...

Blind tasted by Fabio Giavedoni, Andy Howard MW, Alessandra Piubello (at The Institute of Masters of Wine, 29 Nov 2018) " (11/2018) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Smooth and fresh, this has delicate scents of wild flower, lemon and a whiff of crushed herb. On the bright, creamy palate, crisp acidity and a polished, foaming mousse offset green apple, white peach and citrus zest. (KO) " (12/2017) K&L Notes: San V...

Ariston Aspasie Reserve (formerly Carte Blanche) Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
Don't let the name change fool you- this is the same great Champagne. The Ariston Aspasie "Carte Blanche" is made of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Meunier. A balanced cuvée in every way, this Champagne is clean and powerful at once. It has a natural toasty quality from spending five full years on the lees, and plenty of refreshing zip from the far northern location of the vineyards. (RV)" (08/2018) 91 points James Suckling: "Lovely bead of bubbles with a creamy texture and pie crust, toasted bread and ripe apples that follow through to a medium to full body. Flavorful finish." La Petite Marquise Crémant de Loire Brut
Top Pick!
Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is soft, lightly nutty and lit up by bright acidity. Apples and creamed pears have a tangy, mineral edge. (RV)" (05/2018) K&L Notes: A pale yellow wine with tiny bubbles, this Crémant de Loire Brut is rounded and delicate with a fine, nervy, complex nose and the freshness of Chenin Blanc, floral Chardonnay and fruity Cabernet Franc from 20- to 30-year-old vines. With its lively attack, it proceeds gracefully across the palate with nice aromatic persistence in the mouth and lingering notes of fresh peaches and pear. A great o...

Ariston Aspasie Brut Rosé Champagne
Top Pick!
Our best deal in pink bubbles! Fans of Billecart-Salmon take note: this is an elegant, dry style that is made entirely from estate-grown fruit in Brouillet. This Champagne is a blend of half and half Pinot Noir and Meunier. The color comes from 12% Meunier that is vinified red, from an old-vine plot that gets quite ripe. It is a very pretty tarnished pink color and has a lazy bead from over five years of aging on the lees. Our current selection has a 2012 base wine. It has gorgeous red cherry fruit on the nose and mid-palate, but still finishes snappy an...

95 points Decanter: "The original 'green' Champagne producer, organic since 1970 and biodynamic since 1989. I picked the Brut Sonate 2011 to include in my book, which is a little more expensive, but this blanc de noirs is also brilliant, rich and creamy but dancing with a salty minerality. (JA)" (12/2017) 92 points James Suckling: "Beautiful florals with light and bright red fruit and brioche pastry. The palate has a crisp, silky feel with fine, red-fruit flavors. 90 points Decanter: "Opens with a fanfare of peach, pear and spiced lemon; subtle architecture in the mouth with a chalky subtext and attractive orchard fruit, transported by a flowing mousse. Pretty accomplished and serious. (panel tasting)" (02/2017) K&L Notes: If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger and Krug in the past, I think you will very much enjoy Michel Arnould. When I first asked Séverine Launois if we could have the Launois Brut Rose Champagne for the Champagne club, she replied with a simple "No, thank you," but when I placed an order for the cases, she let me have them. I don't know if we'll ever be able to get this 100% Pinot Noir Champagne from them again, but at least we have it now! Wow, is this stuff is dark! If you are interested in tasting a 'red wine' Champagne, this is your opportunity. This potent, even tannic Champagne reminds me very much of red wine, but with wonderful bubbles. It is entirely estate grown Pinot Noir, from the Fluteau estate in Gye-Sur-Seine. Made by macerating all of the grape skins so they stay in contact with the juice to get the maximum flavor and color. This rosé is a great bottle for a picnic with cold cut sandwiches, or even with dessert. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer) The base wine is from 2010 ...

Wine Enthusiast: "Honeysuckle, honeydew melon and white-peach aromas follow through to the somewhat sweet palate along with a note of glazed orange zest. Fresh acidity lifts the rich candied flavors. (KO)" (12/2017) K&L Notes: The Bronca sisters grow their own fruit on steep hillside vineyards, then make base wine and perform the secondary (sparkling) fermentation on non-vintage batches three or four times a year to ensure freshness. From the importer: "Limoux is the world's original birthplace of sparkling wine, with the first bubbles produced here in the year 1544, some 150 years before Dom Perignon began making sparkling wine in Champagne. Only 24 wineries exist in Limoux and Antech (pronounced "An-tesh") is by far the region's most celebrated producer, known for the purity and elegance of the sparkling wines they produce. Jancis Robinson: "From Limoux, but without Chenin Blanc in the blend it can't be called Crémant de Limoux. Full bodied, showing some lovely development with a neat bead. The Antech "Emotion" is a little something different: a blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Mauzac and Pinot Noir from the AOC Crémant de Limoux in the Languedoc region of southern France. Since the 2012 vintage it has been a huge hit with our staff; now it is back, to make our evenings and dinner parties sparkle just that much more. I wrote 'Luxardo cherry' in all caps in my notebook and this wine has fantastic purity of fruit, but a finish that is dry and balanced. This incredible bottle is a true unicorn Champagne--all Pinot Gris! This is the only Champagne that I have ever had made exclusively from this variety that is now nearly extinct in the region. Outstanding sparkling wine from the Languedoc? Absolutely and resoundingly, YES! There will be those of you who scoff at the price of this wine, and claim that a sparkling wine set so low will never be worth any serious consideration. Well, those of you would be WRONG. Boulard-Bauquaire "Trepail" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Vieilles Vignes
Top Pick!
This Champagne comes from one plot of 70-year-old Chardonnay vines in the Montagne of Reims village of Trepail. It is aged for three years on the lees. The Champagne has a chalky, creamy, bready nose, and a concentrated impression on the palate. As one would expect from such ancient vines, it delivers the goods on the finish with plenty of chalk as well as a bit of honey and white fruit. This makes a perfect aperitif, but will also pair well with seafood such as seared scallops or even raw oysters. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Paul Vincent Ariston says that his 25-year-old vines reflect the vintage, but the Prestige, made from vines averaging 60 years, reflect his terroir. It is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier. This was one of the best bottles from my 2010 trip, and we drank two just to make sure! It has fantastic Brouillet black cherry power, and finishes very dry and super long. It is a powerhouse in the style of a vintage Bollinger, but with even more soul! Like almost all Champagne, this wine has relatively low alcohol, 12%. (Gary Westby, K&L Cha...

This super rare bottling is made with some of the nearly extinct, native grape varieties of Champagne. It is composed of 40% Petit Meslier, 40% Arbanne, and 20% Pinot Blanc. I think it is the best of the excellent Ariston portfolio. The nose has only hints of exoticism; the overall impression is of rich cream and toast, but underneath is a hint of pine and exotic white fruit from the old varieties. On the palate the Champagne makes for a double take: it is very rich and textural, but finishes with a laser beam of chalky acidity that just goes on and on. ...

(10/2017) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Based on the 2014 vintage, complemented by fully 40% old reserve wines, the new release of Charles Heidsieck's NV Brut Réserve was disgorged earlier this year. It's showing very well, opening up in the ...

The classic Mesnil Chardonnay and chalk notes are totally alive in a broad, large-scaled Champagne loaded with class and pedigree. The no dosage style works beautifully here. The 3210 is a blend of fruit from Mesnil and Montgueux (in the Aube), two very different but highly complementary terroirs.
