90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, graphite, mint and chocolate, plus a whiff of band-aid. Then surprisingly pliant and creamy for a Dunn cabernet, with accessible flavors of currant, licorice and milk chocolate. Finishes with rather suave tannins and some juicy acidity. Suppler than it appeared to be last spring when I tasted it from barrel, and considerably softer than the Howell Mountain bottling. (ST)" (01/2006)

95 points James Suckling: "This is really fine and beautiful with a dark-berry, cedar, mahogany and chocolate character. Medium to full body, silky tannins and a pretty finish. Really impressive for the vintage. " (03/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Offering cedary notes with some hints of black olive tapenade, grilled meats, spice box and wood with black and red currants, this wine seems fully mature, lusty, rich and undeniably a major success in this vintage. The tannins are largely resolved and the wine is drinking beautifully, so th...

2002 Ojai "Melville" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Back In Stock!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Pinot Noir Melville Vineyard reveals a lovely nose of flowers, black cherries and blackberries. Medium-bodied, with excellent concentration, good underlying acidity, and admirable richness as well as intensity, it should be consumed over the next 3-5 years." (08/2004)
Price: $49.99

According to the Wine Spectator: "Lots to admire in this ripe, full-bodied effort. The core currant, olive, sage and cedary oak flavors are well-proportioned. On the finish, the tannins clamp down and hold on, making it a good candidate for decanting. Drink now through 2010. 1,750 cases made." (11/05)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 96WE, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Araujo’s spectacular 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is a 1,700-case blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot from a vineyard tucked in the lower hillsides of northeastern Napa Valley, not far from the quaint town of Calistoga. Araujo has enjoyed an incredible string of top-notch vintages from 2001 through 2005 and again from 2008 through 2010. Extremely youthful at age ten, the 2002 is a candidate for perfection. Its dense blue/purple hue is followed by abundant aromas of cassis, incense, crushed rocks and spring flowers. Full-bodied and opulent as well as pure, rich and authoritative, with abundant but beautifully integrated tannins, this opulent, plush 2002 can be drunk now or cellared for another 20-25 years. (RP)" (06/2012)
Starting Bid: $250.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Pavillon Rouge, Margaux. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This has an open expressive nose with upfront notes of forest floor, dried herbs and a touch of pencil shavings. (NM)" (01/2009)
Starting Bid: $230.00

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Vega Sicilia "Único" Ribera del Duero (95RP, 94W&S, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Having skipped over releasing a 2001 due to frost damage, the 2002 Unico is a result of a severe selection as attested by the label which shows that just 42,932 bottles were produced instead of 108,536 in 2000. It has an incredibly intense nose, much more linear and focused than the more flamboyant 2000, with scents of dark cherry, creme de cassis and a touch of honey and melted dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight grainy texture on the entry, a hint of cooked meat inflecting the layers of toasty dark berry fruit. It is very harmonious and perhaps at this juncture, edgier and grittier than the millennial Unico. It is less opulent and more structured than the 2000, but is a more cerebral wine. (NM)" (08/2012)
Starting Bid: $255.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100RP, 97WE, 97WS, 96ST, 95W&S, 94DC, 94VN, 93CG) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In contrast to the more linear, structured, but massive 2001, the 2002 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is pure fruit-bomb material, but stunningly proportioned, beautifully pure, with notes of melted chocolate, blackcurrant jam, sweet black cherries, licorice, camphor and charcoal. Very full-bodied, like the 2001, but much more lavishly fruited, it is more accessible and hedonistically, as well as intellectually, satisfying. If the 2001 is the long-distance runner, this comes across more like a middle-distancer. It had performed fabulously well since it was released by the winery, and even though it’s still an adolescent in terms of its evolution, this wine is a head-turner in wine tastings, and a spectacular effort from Napa. (RP)" (12/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 94W&S, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This 2002 was virtually perfect when I tasted it in early May. Even better than I predicted seven years ago, this 4,500-case blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot has blossomed beautifully, revealing even greater intensity and potential than I predicted. A flawless, seamless integration of tannin, wood, alcohol and acidity is found in this dense, plum/purple-colored Dominus, along with copious notes of sweet black currants interwoven with kirsch, forest floor, unsmoked cigar tobacco, new saddle leather and forest floor. Full-bodied with velvety tannins, stunning elegance and a 45-second finish, this sensational 2002 rivals two of the all-time great wines made at Dominus, 1991 and 1994. It is hard to believe that proprietor Christian Moueix’s Dominus Estate has already celebrated its 25th anniversary and is moving toward 30

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (93WS, 92ST, 91RP). Wine Spectator: "Complex aromas of blackberries, tobacco and cedar follow through to a full-bodied palate, with ripe, velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. Very beautiful. (JS)" (03/2005)
Starting Bid: $580.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100RP, 96CG, 96WS, 93W&S, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 boasts an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, violets, blackberries, creme de cassis and hints of charcoal and barbecue in addition to a full-bodied, multilayered mouthfeel that builds incrementally with great purity, staggering fruit concentration, and a long, velvety, 50+-second finish. This prodigious effort should continue to drink well for 20+ years. (RP)" (11/2013)
Starting Bid: $575.00

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Martinelli "Bondi Home Ranch - Water Trough" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (90RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tart acidity and a crisp, elegant personality, with more smoky, herbal notes and a decidedly cool climate style characterizes the 2002 Pinot Noir Bondi Home Ranch Water Trough Vineyard. This wine is well-made, but a completely different expression of Pinot Noir from a cooler area. (RP)" (02/2005)
Starting Bid: $30.00

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (95WS, 93DC, 93RP, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Bubbling over with crushed berries, currants and spices, with tobacco notes. Beautiful. Full-bodied, with gorgeously velvety tannins and a long finish of pretty fruit. This is a racy yet elegant Lafite. Classy. *Collectibles* (JS)" (03/2005)
Starting Bid: $470.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2002 Latour, Pauillac (96RP, 96VN, 96WS, 94ST). Vinous: "One of the most pleasant surprises in this tasting, the 2002 Latour is just beginning to show the full breadth of its aromatic complexity, but it is also has more than enough depth to drink well for several decades. Tar, graphite, incense and smoke open up in the glass in a Latour that leans towards the more delicate, feminine side of things. Silky tannins add polish and creaminess through to the finish. The 2002 is surprisingly delicious today for a young Latour, but it also has the pedigree and density to age nicely for decades. (AG)" (07/2016)
