Wine Spectator: "This fleshy red shows black cherry, spice and herb flavors with firm tannins. It has good concentration and while it's drinkable now, it should improve. " (06/1997) K&L Notes: Joël Taluau was a fabulous grower in St. Nicolas de Bourgueil known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, unmarred by the intrusion of oak--which he hasn't used in production since 1986. He was also the first producer in the appellation to begin domaine bottling. The Vieilles Vignes, from a single plot of Cabernet Franc planted...

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated black-ruby. Flowers, iron and nutmeg on the nose. Large-scaled, very rich and sweet, with chewy tannins and strong acidity providing a very firm structural underpinning. Like the above, this shows terrific inner-mouth flavor despite its extreme youthfulness. Seemed to grow increasingly musclebound in the glass, but the fruit builds impressively on the very long finish. Extraordinary for the vintage. (ST) 93+" (06/1998) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is an outstanding wine....

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers who love Rhone-styled wines must get on Sine Qua Non's mailing list in order to have a chance of latching onto a few bottles of the following vinous treasure. The 1995 The Other Hand is made from 100% Syrah grown in the Alban, Bien Nacido, and Stolpman vineyards, situated respectively in Edna Valley, Santa Maria, and Los Olivos. Aged 18 months in oak, of which 70% is new, this blockbuster, opaque purple-colored wine offers glorious notes of black fruits (primarily blackberry and cassis), subtle smoke, toa...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1995 was a warmer vintage of lower yields from poor fruit set. The result is a relatively generous Georges de Latour Private reserve with lower acidity and a rich, opulent fruit profile. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 22 months in 100% new oak (55% French and 45% American), the 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour has a medium to deep brick color with expressive dried blackberries, Black Forest cake and crème de cassis notes plus hints of cigar box, bouquet garni and coffee beans. Full-bodied (the alcohol is 13.9%), concentrated, firm and grainy, the palate delivers loads of relatively youthful fruit, with seamless freshness, finishing long and spicy. (LPB)" (05/2019)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 1995 Phillip Togni Napa Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (96RP, 96VN, 91ST). Vinous: "Togni's 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is simply dazzling. Deep, unctuous and explosive, this Cabernet Sauvignon screams with the essence of exotic spices, iron, graphite, leather, smoke, game and dark fruit. The 1995 gets better and better with time in the glass, revealing myriad shades of dimension and extraordinary balance. Although stunning today, the 1995 has at least another decade ahead of it. The 1995 was made from the original vines that were ten years old at the time. (AG) 96+" (10/2015)
Starting Bid: $510.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Les Mitans".
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1995 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95WS, 93VN, 92JS). Wine Spectator: "A shade more elegant and refined than the '94, yet sharing the delicious range of flavors, with bright black cherry, plum and floral notes. Turns smooth and polished. (JL)" (02/2000)
Starting Bid: $780.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1995 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (97WS, 96RP, 94ST, 93DC). Wine Spectator: "Very young, with tightly drawn tannins still covering the black cherry, raspberry and sweet cigar smoke notes. Plenty of guts, with beef bouillon, mesquite, game, hot stones, graphite and spice notes coursing through the finish. Should be very long-lived. (JM)" (03/2006)
Starting Bid: $705.00

Bid on this magnum of 1995 Figeac, St-Emilion (1.5L) (95WS). Wine Spectator: "Best Figeac in years. Loads of blackberry, chocolate and stones. Full-bodied and concentrated with masses of tannins and fruit. Long, long finish. Needs time." (01/1998)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1995 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ((92-94RP), 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an opaque blue/black/purple color, followed by sweet cassis aromas intermingled with scents of earth, spice, smoke, and grilled meats. This dense, powerful, muscular, concentrated wine provides an enormous mouthfeel. Wineries need more than luck to produce multi-dimensional wines with this concentration, ripeness, sweetness of fruit, and overall intensity and complexity. Tasted in barrel. (RP)" (06/1997)
Starting Bid: $282.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Hospices de Beaune (Dominique Laurent) Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru "Cuvée Boillot".
Starting Bid: $135.06

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98JS, 96WS, 95RP, 93ST). James Suckling: "I pulled this lone bottle out of my cellar at the last minute to remind some Italian vintners of the great quality of the 1995 Bordeaux vintage. They seem to be finally opening up! What a red with incredible depth and finesse. Cedar, cigar box and toabaaco character with currants and fresh tobacco undertones. It's full-bodied yet tight and dense. Precision. So refined and intense. Such freshness and beauty." (06/2016)
Starting Bid: $605.00

Bid on this magnum of 1995 La Jota "14th Anniversary" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monster, the tannic 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon 14th Anniversary Release is unquestionably a huge, mountain-styled Cabernet. It exhibits a black/purple color and a reticent but promising nose of minerals, smoke, black currants, and underbrush. Although full-bodied and excruciatingly tannic, there is enough fruit to balance out the wine's structure. (RP)" (12/1997)
Starting Bid: $105.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1995 Le Couvent, St. Emilion. The 1995 vintage in St. Emilion produced wines with exquisite structure and aging potential. A hot, dry summer and just enough rain in September ensured balanced and fully ripe grapes that produced excellent wines.
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this magnum of 1995 Williams Selyem "Riverblock Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir (1.5L). Williams Selyem Winery began as a simple dream between two friends, Ed Selyem and Burt Williams, who pursued weekend winemaking as a hobby in 1979 in a garage in Forestville, California, and made their first commercial vintage in 1981. As friends, they decided to make a go of winemaking together in a two-car garage on River Road. Fruit for the Riverblock Vineyard was sourced from young vines in the Rochioli vineyard, closest to the river.
Starting Bid: $310.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru ((92-94RP), 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just as dark as the Clos Vougeot, but even more prodigiously concentrated, the Richebourg is among the blackest and inkiest (both in color and taste) Pinot Noirs I have tasted. Exhibiting sweet Asian spices and grilled black fruits on the nose, this behemoth is a rich, chewy, rugged, silky-textured wine packed with super-ripe, highly-concentrated ripe berries. Possessing impressive depth and structure, this wine may well deserve a higher rating when it has had time to soften out. (PR)" (06/1997)
