1994 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Back In Stock!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc) reveals toasty sweet oak in the nose, bombastic levels of black currant fruit and spice along with a hint of mint in the background. (RP)" (12/1998) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, plush and concentrated, with a decided coconut and oak accent mixed with complex plum and berry flavors. Finishes with a rich, focused, generous aftertaste, with fine length. Deftly balanced. (JL)" (11/2004)
Price: $139.99

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The initial hints of secondary aromas (though no sous-bois) and that truffled earth character so often found in a classic Ruchottes merge into complex, intense and still moderately structured flavors where the finish retains just a hint of greeness, which suggests like many '94s the tannins did not achieve full maturity. Still, by the standards of the vintage, this is an unqualified success and while the '94 Ruchottes will not improve further, there is no rush to drink up." (11/2006) John Gilman: "The 1994 Roumier Ruchottes ...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 93VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 boasts an inky/purple color along with a glorious nose of black raspberries, blackberries and black currants that is still somewhat primary despite nearly 18 years in bottle. The Phelps team kept this cuvee in 100% new French oak for 28 months. Its magnificent structure, intensity and purity of fruit, ripeness, balance combined with authoritative power and the magnetic appeal of this full-bodied, Bordeaux-styled wine are extraordinary. This amazing effort is just coming into its best years, and should drink well for at least another 15-20 years. (RP)" (11/2013)
Starting Bid: $361.00

Bid on this bottle of 1994 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignon's saturated purple color is accompanied by an exuberant, sweet, enveloping fragrance of smoky new oak, and jammy blackberry and cassis fruit. In the mouth, this lavishly wooded, black fruit-filled Cabernet is extremely full-bodied, with superb levels of fruit, glycerin, and extract. Like many 1994 Cabernet Sauvignons, it possesses extraordinary equilibrium, with the sweet tannin giving the wine considerable accessibility. The finish lasts for nearly 30 seconds. This will be a fun wine to drink young, but do not discount its aging ability. (RP)" (12/1997)
Starting Bid: $205.00

Bid on this bottle of 1994 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (97VN, 96RP, 92WS). Vinous: "A wine that takes over all the senses, Dunn's 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. New leather, smoke and spices are some of the many notes that develop in the glass, adding complexity and character. This is an especially powerful, brooding vintage for the Howell Mountain. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 1994 is rich, broad, ample and incredibly expressive today. What a wine. (AG)" (02/2014)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1994 Latour, Pauillac ((92-94ST), 92RP, 91WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Very deep ruby-red. Pungent, inky, nutty aromas of blackcurrants and minerals; very sexy oak treatment gives the nose a wonderful sweetness. Big, minerally, and shapely, with lovely purity of dark berry flavor. Has clarity and grip, but not quite the richness of the '95. The tannins build in the glass, but are in harmony with the wine's middle palate material. Uncanny length for the vintage. (ST)" (05/1996)
Starting Bid: $1,105.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1994 Margaux, Margaux (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The nose is intriguing: very open with a touch of mulch, graphite, mint and crushed flowers, very “old school”...hints of juniper. It is very well balanced and fresh, quite crisp with slight hints of undergrowth and tar. It trails off a little towards the finish, but maintains good balance. It is a little sharp and a little dry on the finish, but is drinking perfectly now. (NM)" (03/2012)
Starting Bid: $930.00

Bid on this bottle of 1994 Penfolds "Bin 707" Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley South Australia (95JH, 90RP). James Halliday: "Deep purple-red; a wonderfully fragrant, powerful and intense aroma proclaiming Cabernet Sauvignon at the height of its youthful power leads on to a formidable palate, crammed with fruit and oak, but with tannins to lose (as the Californians are fond of saying). Needs years to begin to give of its best but will sweep all before it before it is finished in its show career. Top gold medal winner at the 1997 Sydney Wine Show. " (07/2011)
Starting Bid: $205.00
