93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 20% whole bunch, matured in 50% new oak. It has a very attractive bouquet of well-defined blackberry and elderberry fruit, tangible mineralité and great delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit that merges with more red fruit toward the finish. Just a little savory in style, full of freshness and tension, this is a finely crafted Echézeaux that should age wonderfully over the next 15–20 years. (NM)" (12/2020) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An overtly floral, es...

2019 Château de la Charrière Bourgogne Rouge
Top Pick!
Château de la Charrière is one of our most popular direct import producers and a label that easily represents the best bang for your buck we carry in Burgundy. Formerly run by Yves Girardin, the business is now run by his young son Benoit, who definitely has modernized the winemaking a bit since his first vintage in 2011. Whereas the wines were a bit funky and rustic previously, the past few vintages are much cleaner, showcasing the pureness of the Pinot Noir by de-stemming completely so as to remove excess tannic structure.

2016 Tongue in Groove "Cabal Vineyard" Pinot Noir Waipara Valley Canterbury
Top Pick!
95 points Sam Kim: "Seductively savoury with sweet fruit richness, this gorgeously expressed pinot shows dried cherry, cured meat, truffle, cedar and anise notes on the nose. The palate displays excellent concentration and supple mouthfeel, wonderfully enhanced by multi-layered mouthfeel and silky tannins." (09/2020) 94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of brambly blueberries and cassis with wild herbs and a swathe of spicy oak, adding further dimension to the nose. The palate has an impressive, central concentration of ripe dark cherries, swathed in spic...

Mas Codina is a 40-hectare estate in Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Rosé consists of Pinot Noir grown in their own vineyards in the middle Penedès region. Here the Garriga brothers are quite pleased with the results they see from the Pinot Noir grown in chalky-clay soils. They have been working organically for the past several years, and their first harvest doing so with certification was 2017. We direct import this delicious Cava, and it is arguably one of our best values in rosé bubbly right now. (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

2019 Domaine Begude "Le Cerisier" Pinot Noir Pays d'Oc
Top Pick!
Domaine Begude is a high quality, organic wine estate set high in the cool climate region of Limoux in the south of France. Fresh and fruit-filled, modern white, rosé, & red wines represent great value for money and are available to buy at the Domaine and around the world. Winery note: "Fruit, fruit and more fruit: cherries and raspberries abound! You must try this with duck. Fabulous lightly chilled with summer lunches."

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Clos de La Roche Grand Cru has a delineated, succinct bouquet, the 25% whole bunch seamlessly integrated with blackberry, briar and faint traces of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and nice focus, leading to quite a strict, linear finish. I can imagine this requiring cellaring for several years before it loosens up. Fine salty aftertaste. (NM)" (12/2020) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A cool and restrained nose speaks of various dark berry aromas nuanced by hints of earth, dri...

91 points Decanter: "The Hautes Côtes are increasingly coming into their own in hotter, drier Burgundian vintages. This pale, delicate, refreshing Pinot Noir comes from a 1.53-hectare parcel close to Vosne-Romanée at 380 metres of altitude and has impressive freshness and lift, despite being picked last. Spice and tobacco notes from 30% whole bunches add extra complexity. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026. (TA)" (10/2019) Vinous: "The 2018 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits comes from 1.53 hectares of vine. It is more backward and a little more sultry than the ...

95 points John Gilman: "The Clos Rognet is a warmer microclimate and Jean-Nicolas judiciously decided to start picking here first in 2018 and the wine has turned out brilliantly as a result! This is ripe, but oh, so precise and pure at the same time, with the nose soaring from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, black raspberries, roasted meats, a nice touch of Corton spice, beautiful minerality, French roast, coriander seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and powerful in personality, with stunning purity on the attack, a sappy...

2018 TED by Mount Edward Pinot Noir Central Otago
Top Pick!
94 points Sam Kim: "Sweetly fruited and spicy at the same time, the wine shows dark cherry, clove, roasted nut, game and floral aromas on the nose, leading to a silky-smooth palate that's juicy and flowing. It's beautifully composed and delectably expressed with a lengthy rounded finish. At its best: now to 2023" (09/2020) 91 points James Suckling: "This is a very plush, fleshy and pillowy pinot that has terrific fruit emphasis and a very velvety and slippery, delicious finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap." (08/2019) Robert Pa...

Jancis Robinson: "All in order, firm but rounded tannins. Finishes slightly dry and chewy at the moment but will come round. (AC)" (01/2020) K&L Notes: Formed in 1957 by a small group of growers in the village of Orches in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune region, Nuiton-Beaunoy has grown to now represent more than 80 growers and operates a co-op winery Cave des Hautes-Côtes. 2018 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "Jean-Nicolas made two cuvées of Clos de Vougeot in 2017, but reverted to one in 2018. Fresh, charming and refined, the result is a supple, floral Pinot Noir that's almost good to drink straight out of the barrel, with aromatic cinnamon spice, fine tannins and very well-integrated 80% new wood. Not the most structured Grand Cru perhaps, but this is very sweet and engaging. 2018 Château de la Charrière Santenay "Les Charmes Dessus" Rouge

Château de la Charrière is the family property of Yves Girardin, scion of one the most established families in Burgundy, with a history extending back 13 generations. Yves and his son Benoit farm 21.5 hectares of domaine holdings, and since Benoit has taken over the winemaking after finished his studies in Beaune and Bordeaux, the wines have truly taken on a refined and focused character that belies their incredibly affordable price points. We've been direct importing these wines for a number of years now, and they've more than capably stood up as some o...

It's wonderfully weighted and seamlessly flowing on the palate with terrific fruit purity together with seductive savoury undertones, leading to a superbly long velvety finish. Grapes were grown in Renwick and Southern Valleys districts. At its best: now to 2030." Typically when you think Sancerre, you think crisp and chalky white wine. But the region also produces phenomenal Pinot Noir. One of the aspects of Sancerre that makes for great Sauvignon Blanc is the limestone and flint soils, which lend depth of minerality and gorgeous aromatics. These same soil characteristics also make for incredible Pinot Noir with plenty of depth and personality. One of our best new-direct import producers in Sancerre, Aurore Dezat, makes just such a wine. If you love silky, round Pinot Noir with gorgeous dark cherry notes and laye...

2018 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Auxey-Duresses Rouge 1er Cru "La Chapelle"
Top Pick!
93 points John Gilman: "The 2018 la Chapelle is one of the ripest wines in the Lafouge cellars this year, coming in at all of 13.4 percent octane. The wine is just stellar on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in a classic mix of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, gamebird, plums, a complex base of soil tones and just a touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully sappy at the core, with fine focus and grip, impeccable balance, fine-grained tannins and outstanding backend mineral drive on th...

This is really quite good for its level and worth checking out. *Outstanding, Top Value!*" (04/2020) Connoisseurs Guide: "Gilles Lafouge observed that his vines for his Bourgogne “Côte d’Or” are located in Pommard and he really likes the location of these vines and how they respo...

2018 Château de la Charrière Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Vignes Franches"
Top Pick!
In 2003, Yves Girardin, a 10th generation grower in Santenay (and brother of Vincent Girardin) acquired this property and built a new winemaking facility. More recently, after completing technical training, Yves’s son Benoit has joined him, bringing to 11 the consecutive generations of the family to grow wine in Santenay. Working in their new cellars, they have really improved quality a tremendous amount in the last few years, and we are excited to import their wines direct.

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An elegant, ripe and cool nose offers up notes of black cherry, plum, spice, violet and a hint of lavender. There is a highly refined mouthfeel to the energetic and intense medium weight flavors that possess a silky mid-palate while displaying outstanding depth and length on the markedly firm and well-balanced finale. This is quite simply terrific and definitely recommended though note well that patience will be required. *Burghound Don't Miss Outstanding!*" (01/2021) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: ...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A riper nose reflects notes of poached plum, red currant, violet and a plethora of spice suggestions. The supple and relatively forward mid-palate of the moderately dense flavors immediately tighten up on the impressively complex and persistent finish that is shaped by a notably firm tannic spine that will require extended patience to resolve. I like the vibrancy and this is really quite good. " (01/2020) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from 1.32 hectares of vine in the lieu-dit of Les C...

It has a subtle, cerebral bouquet featuring gorgeous black fruit mixed with sea spray, cockle sheds and graphite aromas; this is very classy. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very intense and energetic, leading to a sorbet-fresh, blood-orange-infused finish that has a lot of potential. Cellar this Champeaux for five or six years if you can, because it has ambition. (NM)" (12/2020) 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A mu...

The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present their wines. We love these wines for their freshness, charm and affordability. The low-alcohol Millet Sancerre Rouge is 100% Pinot Noir, partially barrel aged, and absolutely delicious. Aromas of cherries and purple flowers give way to a vibrant, crunchy red-fruited palate with just a enough tannins to balance out the juicy fruit.

96 points Decanter: "Showing a little more concentration and depth than the Lamarche Echézeaux in 2018 (though that is an impressive wine in its own right), this comes from a single parcel of 0.3ha. With a hint of good reduction on the nose, it's a savoury, spicy number with some tannic grip to complement the scented berry fruit that's so typical of this domaine's wines. Drinking Window 2024 - 2032. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Lamarche’s 0.30 hectares of vine. It has a little more horsepower than...

The aromas of ripe blueberries and red and dark cherries, together with sappy, earthy and spicy notes and violet perfume are all entrancing. The palate has beautiful volume and sweeping fluidity. Fruit-drenched tannins curl around a long, focused and mouthwatering finish. Drink or hold. Once again, this offers very fine quality for a villages level wine and is worth investigating. *Burghound Outstanding Top Value*" (01/2021) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village contains 20% whole bunch from the La Violette l...

This Pinot comes from the lower part of the Premier Cru and is around 50 years' old. Typically fine, velvety and understated, this shows that the man's magic touch isn't restricted to what he does in Volnay. Elegant, polished winemaking. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030. 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village, which contains 40% whole bunch, takes a few swirls of the glass to meld together, finally delivering airy blackberry and bilberry scents, perhaps more Morey in style than the titular village. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, a granular texture and a salty, slightly brusque but fresh finish. Fine, but it will need some bottle age to smooth its edges. A second cuvée without the stems is perhaps just a little less interesting on the nose. Thomas Collardot is not sure what the fin...

Today Bouchard is led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet while the wines are made by Philippe Prost who has been with the company since 1978.
