92 points Decanter: "Even at the village level, the 2018 wines from Grivot are intense and beautiful. Enticing nose with ripe raspberries, cherries and crushed violets. Suave on the palate and quite intense with velvety tannins and a lingering finish. One of the best Vosne-Romanée village reds I tried in 2018. Destemmed and matured for 18 months in barrique, 25% new. (JCL)" (02/2020) 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village, matured in 20–25% new oak, has a well-defined, almost airy bouquet of red cherries, cranberry and sous-bois aromas th...

96 points Decanter: "Showing a little more concentration and depth than the Lamarche Echézeaux in 2018 (though that is an impressive wine in its own right), this comes from a single parcel of 0.3ha. With a hint of good reduction on the nose, it's a savoury, spicy number with some tannic grip to complement the scented berry fruit that's so typical of this domaine's wines. Drinking Window 2024 - 2032. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from Lamarche’s 0.30 hectares of vine. It has a little more horsepower than...

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A wonderfully spicy nose combines notes of hoisin and soy with those of fresh plum and violet. The sleek, delicious and well-defined middle weight flavors possess an equally lovely texture before firming up on the focused, youthfully austere and moderately structured finish. Once again, this offers very fine quality for a villages level wine and is worth investigating. *Burghound Outstanding Top Value*" (01/2021) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village contains 20% whole bunch from the La Violette l...

2018 Domaine Dujac Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts"
Back In Stock!
96 points Decanter: "Perfumed, refined and showing none of the firmness that Aux Malconsorts can exhibit in its youth, this is balanced, nuanced and spicy, with 75% whole bunches adding some freshness and texture, all framed by 70% new wood. Not a blockbuster wine by any means, but this has considerable class, poise and palate length with succulent red berry fruit to the fore. (TA)" (10/2019) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fireworks begin in earnest with the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts, a brilliant young wine that burst...

95 points Decanter: "A wine that is both juicy and wonderfully hedonistic, this classy cuvée is fermented with 75% whole bunches and aged in 70% new wood. Comparatively pale in colour, but certainly not lacking in depth or palate weight, it has some tannic grip and subtle wood to complement the plush, palate-caressing fruit. Deliciously drinkable. (TA)" (10/2019) 93 points John Gilman: "In a torrid vintage like 2018, I would expect the Beaumonts here to be quite black fruity in personality, but the wine is all red fruit this year and really superb. It ...

88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A slightly more deeply pitched nose features notes of plum-suffused red cherry and sandalwood scents that unveil plenty of Vosne-style spice elements. There is good richness to the caressing and delicious medium-bodied flavors that tighten up somewhat on the lingering and focused finale. This will need to develop more depth with time in bottle but should it do that it should merit the upper end of my projected range." (01/2020) 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru comes from just over...

2017 Domaine d'Eugénie Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru
Top Pick!
92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is a great success, unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries, wild berries, rich soil tones and espresso roast, framed by a lavish but nicely integrated touch of toasty new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with a generous core of ripe but juicy fruit, concluding with an expansive, saline finish. While this is quite giving and charming by the standards of the appellation, it's the most concentrated wine in the Eugénie portfolio this year, and...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is prominent wood and menthol present on the markedly spicier nose of red currant, raspberry, black cherry and a hint of anise. There is a supple and appealingly silky texture to the mid-palate thanks to the notably fine-grained tannins, all wrapped in a seductive finale. This is very Vosne in style but as pretty as this is it doesn't quite have the overall depth of the Chambolle." (04/2016)

2018 Domaine Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru
Top Pick!
95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Interestingly, this is actually quite similar to the nose of the Grands Ech but it's arguably even spicier and quite cool in the context of the 2018 vintage along with a top note of menthol. The pliant medium-bodied flavors possess a decidedly sleek mouthfeel though the tension really builds from the mid-palate to the firm, dusty and very serious finish that offers outstanding length. Patience strongly advised as this is definitely resolutely structured. In a word, excellent." (01/2021) 95 points Decanter: "Nicole ...

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with an exquisite bouquet of sweet red berries, cherries, orange rind, smoked duck and exotic spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and enveloping wine framed by velvety tannins and succulent acids, concluding with a long and youthfully chalky finish. From a parcel planted in the 1930s, I often think that Aux Brûlées is Méo's finest wine; and while I'd give the Cros Parantoux the edge this year, it is a superb e...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the very fresh and pure nose is spicier still with notes of anise, hoisin, sandalwood and floral nuances that add a touch of elegance to the mostly red berry scents. The vibrant and tension-filled medium-bodied flavors are firmer and perhaps less seductive than usual but also longer and more structured than usual. I would add that it's rare when this wine is at more or less the same level as the Murgers or the Boudots but at this admittedly early stage, it appears that it is. We will of course see in time but...

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village wafts from the glass with an inviting bouquet of raspberries, spices, orange rind, rich soil tones and espresso roast. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with fine structuring tannins, succulent acids and a long, delicately perfumed finish. (WK)" (01/2020) 88-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The ripe and fresh nose of red raspberry, violet and spicy aromas is trimmed in a generous dollop of wood and vanilla influences. The velvety and punch...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mingling notes of wild berries and plums with hints of sweet spices, licorice, orange rind and espresso, the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux is medium to full-bodied, layered and multifaceted, framed by powdery structuring tannins and lively acids. It's one of the finer-boned, more nuanced wines in the range this year. (WK)" (10/2020)

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is quite spicy with hints of hoisin, sandalwood and exotic tea that add breadth to the markedly floral black pinot fruit nose. The succulent, round and seductively textured, indeed even opulent, flavors coat the mouth with dry extract while also buffering the firm, serious and lightly austere finale. The supporting tannins are dense but fine and this will also need at least some patience. *Outstanding, Top Value*" (04/2020) 88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village bursts ...

95 points Decanter: "Domaine d'Eugénie's Echézeaux hails from a north-facing site that's close to the chilly Combe d'Orveaux, but it tastes like a wine from a warmer vineyard, thanks to low yields and green harvesting. Big, rich, bold, tannic and extracted, it's not the most feminine or graceful of Pinots, but what it lacks in finesse, it makes up for it concentration and ageing potential. Drinking Window 2026 - 2036. (TA)" (10/2019) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru includes 60% whole cluster. It has a very detailed, mineral-driven bo...

95-97 points Vinous: "The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is matured in 20% new oak. It has a very intense bouquet of bright red currant, wild strawberry, pomegranate and rose petal aromas that feels sensual and seductive. The medium-bodied palate offers succulent, fleshy, quite grippy tannins that lend this Romanée-Saint-Vivant volume and mass. It is very well balanced and pure, and feels structured, almost Richebourg-like, toward the persistent finish. This is a very serious Grand Cru that will offer 20 to 30 years of drinking pleasure. (NM)" (01/2...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood influence surrounds the overtly spiced and ripe plum, dark currant and violet scents. The attractively textured, rich and sappy medium weight flavors possess very good depth on the lengthy finish where a touch of wood appears. This is quite good for its level and is a wine that should drink well on the younger side if that's your preference." (01/2020) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village was the only cru that had been racked when I visited in mid-November. The bouquet is well defin...

91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has an attractive bouquet of black cherries, blueberry, crushed violet and light rose petal aromas that are nicely integrated with the wood. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins framing the blackberry, bilberry, black olive and black pepper notes, the latter lending the finish a bit of welcome frisson and length. Quite long on the aftertaste. This is one of Michel Gros’s best wines this year. (NM)" (01/2020) 89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " Mild ...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has turned out nicely, bursting from the glass with expressive aromas of rose petals, spices, wild berries and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, layered and invitingly perfumed, it's built around powdery tannins and succulent acids. Despite its deceptive charm, there's considerable structure here to sustain graceful evolution in the cellar. (WK)" (10/2020) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A menthol top note is present on the red and dark pinot fruit-suffused aromas that are set off b...

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too displays just enough reduction to blur the underlying detail of the nose. Otherwise there is an elegant and seductive inner mouth perfume to the velvet-textured middle weight flavors that evidence focused power on the equally grippy finish that is just a bit better balanced." (01/2020) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Clos des Réas 1er Cru comes from the 2.12-hectare monopole of the domaine, though 0.4 hectares was pulled up two years ago for replanting. It has an attractive bouquet of well-...

87-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pretty and cool nose combines notes of Vosne-style spice with those of plum and violet scents. The medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel as well as a touch of minerality on the attractively textured finale that offers good if not special depth and persistence. This should drink well on the younger side if preferred." (01/2019) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village bursts with aromas of rich cassis, plums and spices, framed by toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to ...

89-91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has also turned out well, exhibiting scents of wild berries, peonies, violets and grilled squab, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and nicely concentrated palate that's lively and refined. This is a lovely wine. (WK)" (01/2020) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has a fragrant bouquet of morello cherry and raspberry aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry, featuring notes of sour cherry and orange peel. A little compact toward the finish, but it sho...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another great success this year is the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts, a brilliant cuvée in the making that bursts with aromas of cassis, cherries, smoked duck, dried flowers and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and textural, with a multidimensional core of lavishly ripe but succulent fruit that entirely conceals the wine's structuring tannins. Readers who are unable to secure a few bottles of Hudelot-Noellat's Richebourg this year should consider consoling themselves with this ...

2019 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village is also very promising, mingling aromas of cassis and raspberries with hints of dark chocolate, rose hips and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant, it's deep and layered, with powdery structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. I deferred my tasting with Charles Van Canneyt until as late as possible, as he told me that several protracted malolactic fermentations had only just concluded by the end of harvest 2020. The wines were worth the wait, however, ...

95 points Decanter: "This has the most gorgeous savoury red fruits edged with rosemary, thyme, crushed earth and tobacco. A totally delicious wine that is both mouth-watering and restrained. A touch of reduction at first keeps the aromatics closed, but they open up quickly to show floral-edged pleasure. From a single 1.4ha plot opposite Richebourg (the Aux Brûlées vineyard is 5ha in total), with a clay-limestone rich soil that holds moisture and so stays cool over hot summers like 2018. 60% whole cluster. Drinking Window 2021 - 2036. (JA)" (02/2020) 93...

1989 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru (4cm fill-signs of past seepage) (Previously $17500) (Previously $17500)
Top Pick!
97 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, intense and tannic, this young, backward, tightly wound wine matches richness and concentration with subtlety and finesse. Loads of berry and cherry-scented flavors have a touch of spice and anise, and the flavors fan out on the finish. Lay this away. " (10/1992) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This particular bottle was, not surprisingly, quite floral but there is also a bit of a green streak on the nose and while almost all RC's have it to some degree, this is more prominent than usual and in my experience, rela...

2017 Domaine d'Eugénie Echézeaux Grand Cru
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "Back at a decent crop size after the frost of 2016, this comes from a 0.5ha holding that's influenced by the cool breezes from the Combe d'Orveaux. With 60% whole bunches and 80% new oak, this is structured, serious and built to last. It's a big, spicy, profound wine with flavours of damson, black tea and liquorice. It needs a lot of time. Drinking Window 2025 - 2035. (TA)" (10/2018) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From vines located in the lieu-dit En Orveaux, the 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru reveals aromas of ripe cherri...

94 points Decanter: "There's been a welcome shift in style in this wine in 2017, away from deep colour and extraction towards something that's more, well, Burgundian. Made with 60% whole bunches in 66% new wood, it comes from a 0.6ha parcel. Spicy, textured and aromatic, it has notes of orange zest, plush red fruits, good acidity and the tannic structure to age. (TA)" (10/2018) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of ripe cherries, sweet spices and a generous application of new oak introduce the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Brûlées, a ...

97 points Decanter: "The Hudelot-Noëllat Richebourg is generally poured last in any tasting at the domaine, but it's not an especially big or tannic wine, even in cooler, more traditional vintages. This is racy, elegant and very detailed, with less texture and plushness than you sometimes find in wines from the Grand Cru, but an engaging thread of minerality and a fine, refreshing finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2032. (TA)" (10/2019) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As usual, the king of the cellar at Domaine Hudelot-Noellat is the 2018 Rich...

88-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An appealingly spicy nose offers up a mélange of black pinot fruit, exotic Asian tea, violet and an interesting hint of dried tangerine peel. There is both fine volume and intensity to the nicely complex medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by firm and ever-so-mildly edgy tannins though in this case my sense is that they could very well round out in time." (01/2020) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village, aged in one-third new oak, has the best aromatics among Michel Gros’s Village Crus, with crus...
Price: $89.99

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the expressive nose is at once spicier and a bit more elegant as well with its array of more evident floral influence on the black cherry aromas that are trimmed in a discreet application of wood. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors possess a velvety texture thanks to the sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm tannic spine shaping the delicious and lingering finish that is slightly firmer. This will need at least a few years of cellaring first and should easily reward up to a...
Price: $99.99

95-97 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit and more sous-bois aromas than the En Orveaux; touches of sage and pressed flowers emerge with time, adding more and more complexity. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit and gentle grip in the mouth. Quite structured for a Les Suchots, with a stunning, lightly spiced, energetic finish that has more vivacity than it knows what to do with. Fabulous. (NM)" (01/2020) 96 points Decanter: "Les Suchots is the biggest Premier Cr...

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée is showing beautifully, soaring from the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums and cherries mingled with sweet spices, woodsmoke, grilled squab and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and velvety, with fine concentration, lively acids and an expansive finish. (WK)" (01/2020) 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village, raised in around 25% new oak, has a very intense bouquet of black cherries and light iodine aromas. The palate is medi...

Bid on this bottle of 2017 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée ((90-92VN), (89-91BH), (89-91RP)). Vinous: "The palate is well balanced, quite mineral-driven and much more open. This starts in understated fashion but seems to gain depth and precision toward the slightly confit-like finish. Great potential, but it needs time. (NM)" (01/2019)
Starting Bid: $160.00

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine René Engel Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru (95BH, 93VN, (90-92ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This has always been one of my favorite '99s and it continues to mature at a snail's pace though finally some hints of mature fruit are creeping into the brilliantly complex and spicy nose. There is excellent richness and concention to the big, rich and well-muscled flavors that are borderline robust and brimming with buckets of dry extract, all wrapped in a sappy finish that deliver flat out phenomenal length. As I wrote in 2000, this is "textbook Grands-Echézeaux" and there nothing in here that would suggest otherwise. Note that plenty of patience will still be required as this will be close to 20 years of age before it has reached its full potential. Tasted several times with similar impressions." (07/2013)
Starting Bid: $1,600.00

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Brûlées" ((95-96RP), 95BH, 95JG, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Vosne-Romanee Les Brulees has the polish, refinement, creaminess of texture and charm that the Parantoux lacked. Sweet black raspberry, nut paste, and butter-creme dominate in the nose and mouth, and the counterpoint of faintly caramelized fruit, toasted nuts, and grilled meat with diverse mineral expressions and juicy freshness of black raspberry and pomegranate is captivating. This long, polished wine should be given 8-10 years of development by which time a direct comparison with the presently more austere and high-strung Parantoux should be a rare treat. (DS)" (04/2007)
Starting Bid: $650.00

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée (91WE, 90WS). Wine Enthusiast: "This is a beautiful, silky wine with fine, delicate tannins. Ripe strawberry and red cherry fruits are embedded in the elegant structure that is already heralding a wine of richness as well as spice from wood aging. Drink from 2017 and at least until 2025. (RV)" (12/2015)
Starting Bid: $55.00

Bid on this bottle of 2010 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée (90WS). Wine Spectator: "A spare, elegant style, boasting sandalwood, licorice, cherry and raspberry notes. Shows a sweetness to the fruit midpalate and a mouthwatering finish. (BS, Web-2014)"

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" (93BH, 93ST, 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A highly complex and very Vosne nose features mild wood influence along with abundant spice notes on the red currant, plum and black cherry fruit and violet suffused aromas that are very much in keeping with the rich, seductive and velvet-textured flavors that evidence controlled power. This is quite suave but there is fine definition, focus and excellent length. In a word, terrific. *Outstanding*" (01/2012)
Starting Bid: $690.00

Bid on this bottle of 2011 Domaine Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Chaumes" ((89-90ST)). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good, bright full red. Tangy red cherry and raspberry aromas complicated by flowers and spices. In a distinctly cooler style, without quite the depth of the two Nuits premier crus. Black cherry and mineral flavors are joined on the end by pepper and herb notes. A bit less mid-palate flesh here to support the firm tannins." (01/2013)
Starting Bid: $140.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts". Neal Martin offered the following update on this domaine: "'Noellat' might be a name synonymous with Vosne-Romanee for decades. However 22-year-old Maxime Cheurlin, Georges Noellat’s nephew, is a name to look for in the future. He grew up in Champagne rather than the Cote d’Or since his parents run a successful champagne house, but it seems that Maxime heard the calling and seems intent on reinstalling the family name in Burgundy. With some enviable parcels of vine scattered around the locale, Maxime works out of the family’s small cellars just behind his parents’ house whose conservatory offers a fantastic panorama across their holding of Les Chaumees. Stylistically, these wines reminded me of Sylvain Cathiard. Yes, there is a modern sheen lent by the new oak, although it only seemed to be slightly excessive with respect to the Echezeaux. Maxime seems to be a driven young vigneron whose tenets have bee

Bid on this bottle of 2015 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru is very fine, offering up a dramatic nose of ripe red fruit, bonfire, espresso roast and sweet loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is rich and powerful, evidently structurally firmer and more masculine than the Beaumonts, although its tannins are similarly cloaked in a deep core of succulent fruit. There's also good freshness here despite the considerable power and amplitude. (WK)" (04/2018)
Starting Bid: $460.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1985 La Maison Rouget Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaumonts" (93BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "While there is the initial hints of bricking, the nose is still quite fresh with pretty spice, stone and secondary fruit aromas leading to rich, detailed and equally mineral-driven middle weight flavors that culminate in a focused, delicious, mouth coating and impressively lingering finish. I very much like the underlying sense of harmony and overall balance and unlike many '85s that are tiring today, this is going to be with us for years to come." (10/2010)
Starting Bid: $205.00

Bid on this bottle of 2013 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((93-95RP)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaux Monts has great clarity on the nose, here veering more toward red fruit than the les Brulées, with subtle wet limestone and granitic scents emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied, very “gourmand” in the mouth, the kind of wine you don’t know whether to drink or eat (not in terms of texture but the flavors). There is a lovely meaty note that surfaces on the long finish. Tres bon vin! (NM)" (12/2014)
Starting Bid: $1,838.00

Bid on this bottle of 1996 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Richebourg Grand Cru (95JG). John Gilman: "The 1996 Richebourg from Hudelot-Noëllat is another absolutely stellar example of the vintage, with impeccable focus and balance promising a long and very rewarding life in bottle. The deep and complex nose soars from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, plums, gamebirds, a touch of chocolate, incipient notes of bonfire, a lovely base of soil, a discreet base of vanillin oak and just a touch of adolescent rusty pipe still remaining in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a superb core of pure fruit, ripe tannins, lovely focus and grip and a very long, plush and tangy finish. This will be excellent with another six or seven years of bottle age. (Drink between 2018-2050) 95+" (09/2011)
Starting Bid: $480.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru ((92-94RP), 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just as dark as the Clos Vougeot, but even more prodigiously concentrated, the Richebourg is among the blackest and inkiest (both in color and taste) Pinot Noirs I have tasted. Exhibiting sweet Asian spices and grilled black fruits on the nose, this behemoth is a rich, chewy, rugged, silky-textured wine packed with super-ripe, highly-concentrated ripe berries. Possessing impressive depth and structure, this wine may well deserve a higher rating when it has had time to soften out. (PR)" (06/1997)
