97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Continuing in a tour de force presentation of some of the best growing sites in Barolo, the Scavino family introduces this, their second vintage, from the Ravera cru of Novello. The Paolo Scavino 2016 Barolo Ravera draws its fruit from an east-facing parcel that is one of the last to be harvested each year. The site shows cool climate conditions even in the warmer years. In a classic vintage such as this, the wine delivers pretty balance and integration. The character of the wine reflects the dark, sultry fruit q...

A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running throughout and just a touch of smoke mixed in with some purple fruits. Soft waves of mineral with a nice soft tannin make this a true delight to drink. Domaine les Pins has been family run for five generations. They are a small artisanal producer that oversees every stage of production from start to finish themselves. They have roughly 30 hectares of Cabernet Franc spread out through the Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bo...

90 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Starting with the 2017 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley, which comes from multiple sites in the Anderson Valley and spent 16 months in 60% new French oak, it has a juicy berry-fruited nose as well as ample violets, candied orange peel, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. It's one of the more approachable wines in the lineup yet still has classic Anderson Valley structure and minerality, medium body, and a great finish." (05/2020) K&L Notes: Robert Parker writes: "This Pinot Noir project encompasses four vineyards with 19 separate clo...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A good, firm mouthfeel and focused, fresh black-fruit flavors help this medium- to full-bodied wine stand out from the pack. Modestly priced for an estate-bottled wine, it has lip-smacking black-cherry and black-tea notes that are lifted by light tannins and good acidity. *Editors' Choice* (JG)" (12/2020) Wine Spectator: "Zesty cherry and wild berry flavors are backed by bright acidity, with savory notes on the finish that show flinty accents. (KM)" (12/2020) K&L Notes: The Husch family were pioneers in the Anderson Valle...

95 points James Suckling: "Extremely floral with rose-petal and cherry character. Walnut and mushroom undertones. Medium to full body, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Citrus-rind undertones. Delicious, solid and harmonious wine. Drink or hold. " (12/2016) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Forest floor, aromatic herb, dark spice and eucalyptus aromas come together with a floral twist. Bright and elegant, the palate shows succulent wild cherry, white pepper, star anise and chopped mint flavors. With its taut, fine-grained tannins and firm acidity, it n...

94 points James Suckling: "This is so delicious with very vibrant red cherries and a wealth of fresh red flowers and a reticent, spicy edge. The palate has a succulent, pure and very neatly defined feel with a long, chiseled core of fresh red cherries. So pure." (05/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2017 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir has lovely, layered aromatics of crushed boysenberries, red currant jelly, cinnamon stick, autumn leaves, violets, orange peel and amaro. It’s light to medium-bodied with a silky tex...

94 points Vinous: "The 2015 Pinot Noir Bearwallow Vineyard is a total knock-out. Rich, explosive and forward, the 2015 possesses striking fruit intensity and purity in every dimension. Dark red and bluish-hued fruits and ripe, silky tannins add to the wine's immediacy. This is an especially plush style for Rhys, but it works beautifully. The 2015 will be even better in another few years, but it will prove virtually impossible to resist young. (AG)" (08/2017) 92 points John Gilman: "The 2015 Pinot Noir from the Bearwallow Vineyard is a lovely wine in th...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine that always delivers, the 2018 Geyserville from Ridge comes all from a multitude of sites in the Alexander Valley and checks in as 68% Zinfandel, 20% Carignane, 10% Petite Sirah, and the rest Alicante Bouschet. It has a big, cedary bouquet of red and black plums, sandalwood, potpourri, and Asian spices that develops and fills out nicely with time in the glass. This carries to a more medium-bodied Zinfandel that has wonderful purity of fruit, present yet ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This structu...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot and was bottled in August 2018. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts out of the glass with exotic spice notes of star anise, fenugreek and cumin seed over a core of blackberry pie, wild blueberries and warm cassis with hints of kirsch, cigar box and mocha plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with vibrant black, blue and red fruits plus tons of spicy sparks, framed by wo...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Talenti 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a balanced and symmetrical wine with bright red cherry on the one hand and pretty spice and balsam herb on the other. The wine pours from the bottle with dark color saturation and ruby highlights. It shows no signs of fading, and that bright color intensity is a common thread in this vintage. There is a good amount of Sangiovese acidity that reinforces the lifted and buoyant style achieved here. It ages in both tonneau and botte for 30 months. Production is 35,000 bottle...

Winery notes: (72% Carignan, 20% Valdiguié, 8% Syrah) The grapes come from 70+ year-old vines in Solano County’s Green Valley and Mendocino County. Wirth Vineyard is in Solano County’s Green Valley, an area tucked between Napa and Suisun Valley. Both Rosewood and Ricetti Vineyard are located in Mendocino. The grapes of each vineyard grow in sandy loam soils and come from dry-farmed and head-pruned vines. Wirth Vineyard practices non-certified organic farming. Ricetti and Rosewood are both certified organic. The Love Red grapes are harvested early to high...

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Pagos Viejos is inky purple with a sublime nose of pain grille, spice box, cherries, raspberries, and wild blue fruits. This is followed by a dense, plush, full-flavored, sexy wine with perfect balance and remarkable elegance for a wine so powerful. Although it can be enjoyed now, it deserves a minimum of a decade of cellaring after which it should drink well through 2047. Kudos to Bodegas Artadi for this tour de force! 91 points Vinous: "Keenan's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is powerful and a bit rough around the edges although it is certainly not lacking in character. Dark red cherry, savory herb, earthiness, tobacco and cedar add to the wine's somewhat rustic personality, and yet there is more than enough depth in the fruit to balance things out. Medium to full in body, but very much classically built the 2016 has so much to offer ... (AG)" (12/2018)

Hendry Ranch is one of the oldest vineyard sites in Napa, with the first plantings established in 1859. The original vines were sadly obliterated by the phylloxera plague, but many of the current plantings still date back to the 1970s, so they’re old by California standards.

96-97 points James Suckling: "The black color indicates a solid and structured red with loads of blackberry and blueberry character. Full-bodied and very tight and tensioned. Savory tannins that are powerful and intense at the finish. Classically structured. Finely toned and formed young red." (04/2019) 95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a powerful wine with a great future that displays a rich, juicy blackberry flavor and ripe tannins. It is well-structured and generous in fruit, yet well balanced and shows promise for the future. (RV)" (04/2019) ...

97-99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Representing just 50% of the production and a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot aging in 80% new French oak, the 2018 Pichon-Longueville Baron reveals a deep, saturated purple color as well as a decadent bouquet of crème de cassis, high class tobacco, crushed violets, and freshly sharpened cedar pencils, which is about as Pauillac as you can get. Full-bodied, incredibly opulent, with moderate acidity and silky tannins on the palate, it still shows beautiful purity, freshness, and elegance, with the tannins giving f...

Winery Notes:"60% Sangiovese, 20% Grenache, 20% Zinfandel. All produced in smaller lots and aged in neutral barrels. Grenache aged for 12 months, Sangiovese and Zinfandel aged for 9 months. This time in the barrel allows the wine to soften so that when we put it into a can it’s ready to drink! Silky, medium-bodied, bing cherry, strawberry, sandalwood, licorice, cranberry and plum. Try with red sauce pasta dishes, tacos, pizza, burgers, anything chocolate."

From the area south of Muscadet known as Fiefs Vendéens, this wine is a blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Negrette, and Gamay. Our French Regional wine buyer, Keith Mabry, says, "One of my go-to reds from the region, and it’s not just the adorable little owl on the label that makes it special for me. With its great acidity and texture and floral aromas, this is the perfect red to put a little chill on and enjoy with all kinds of foods!"

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2004 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (94W&S, 93ST, 93VN, 92RP). Wine & Spirits: "Ridge grows one of the most distinctive Cabernets in California at its Monte Bello estate. This vintage represents a selection of 38 percent of the crop, which itself had been naturally restricted by lower than average rainfall, particularly in winter. Ridge doesn't irrigate these vines-nor do they inoculate the juice to start fermentation, which yielded a modest 13.2 percent alcohol in 2004. The fractured limestone in the soil provided just enough moisture to grow this elegant Cabernet, with flavors of wild black cherries and black currants. It feels balanced and firm, dense while weightless, a beauty that will mature for two decades from the vintage, perhaps longer." (12/2007)

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2011 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml) (96W&S, (93-95RP), 94JS, 94VN, 92WS). Wine & Spirits: "The cool 2011 season turned out a pristine vintage of Monte Bello, made from cabernet (88 percent) grown on a limestone-inflected ridge high above Silicon Valley, blended with some merlot and cabernet franc. The team at Ridge let the fruit recover for two weeks following an early October storm before picking, and were more aggressive in their extraction than normal, drawing as much color and structure as possible from the delicate fruit. The aromas revolve around oak at first—anise, wood smoke, cedar bark and cinnamon—but the wood’s contribution is fine and integrated, shading gradually toward bright fruit as the finish lengthens with floral aromas and the tang of tiny, concentrated black currants. It’s even better with a day of air, as the tannins turn to velvet, allowing red-fruited acidity to take the lead and brig

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More serious, substantial and complex is the 2010 Oakville Estate, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec. This 1,000+-blend was aged in 100% new oak. It exhibits attractive notes of spring flowers, forest floor, licorice, black currants and graphite as well as medium to full-bodied, seriously endowed, beautifully pure and textured fruit notes offered in this stylish, classy, noble wine. It can be enjoyed for two decades. (RP)" (10/2013) 93 points Vinous: "Bla...
