The second label wine of Futo vineyards, "OV" is named in honor of Oakford Vineyards that once owned part of the Futo estate. Winemaker's notes: "The 2008 OV sports an inky black color. The nose also reveals this dark density. Cabernet Franc driven aromas of violets and black truffle provide complex counterpoint to black cherry and boysenberry. A deep brambly liqueur-like character dominates the palate, while the nearly 15% Petit Verdot adds white pepper, cocoa powder and ample tannin structure. The sheer extract and size of this wine bode well for long ...

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot, the 2008 Le Dome comes from a tiny site not far from Angélus and is made by Jonathan Maltus. This beauty boasts a deep ruby, opaque color as well as a seductive, forward style its black and blue fruits, lavender, spring flowers, and forest floor aromas and flavors. Incredibly elegant on the palate, with medium to full body, sweet tannins, not a hard edge to be found, and a great finish, it’s fully mature today (and drinking beautifully!) but will cruise for another decade in cold cellar...

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A trace of new wood sets off very fresh and elegant red berry fruit aromas cut with a distinct stoniness that give way to rich, refined and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration and impeccable balance. A classic Latricières that displays just a touch of finishing austerity as well as the definite sense of underlying reserve. A great first vintage." (01/2010) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Nose offers dark cherry, smoky oa...

The original Charles Noellat estate was absorbed by Domaine Leroy in 1988, yet the name lives on as a negociant label sourcing grapes from some of the finest vineyards in Burgundy. Jasper Morris, MW writes: "The Noëllat tribe are abundant in this part of the Côte de Nuits. Two brothers, Charles and Ernest, flourished in the early part of the 20th century. Charles had a son, André, who died in 1941, and whose daughter Odile married Alain Hudelot, to form Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat in Vougeot. Domaine Charles Noëllat no longer exists since its purchase by Lal...

94 points James Suckling: "Taking on a balsamic and high-toned wood character to the ripe fruit on the nose. Some dried cheese and ripe fruit, too. Medium-bodied with integrated tannins that are polished and fine. Goes on for minutes. A beautiful, traditional wine, as always. Drink or hold." (09/2020) K&L Notes: 96 points Tim Atkin "Bosconia faces south and has plenty of fruit sweetness, even in a very cool Atlantic vintage like 2008. Combining Tempranillo with 20% Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, it’s a delightfully subtle, traditional Rioja. Reserva t...

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is breathtaking. Everything is in the right place in this dazzling, superb Cabernet Sauvignon. Layers of dark fruit, plums, camphor, licorice and espresso emerge from this effortless, gracious wine. The integration of fruit, tannin and French oak (100% new) is simply phenomenal. There is a dark, brooding quality to the 2008 that is immensely appealing. This is a stunning wine from Araujo. The 2008 is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. (AG) 97...

95 points James Suckling: "Lots of dried fruit with plum, light raisin, chocolate and toasted oak. Some balsamic undertones. White truffles and dried flowers. Medium body, creamy tannins and savory, balsamic undertones. Extreme and unique, as always." (11/2020) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The nose of the 2008 Viña Tondonia Reserva is very elegant, fresh and with an herbal twist, starting to show the complexity of the aged wines that are sometimes still too young when they are released 10+ years from the vintage! The palate is medium-bodie...

91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Syrah Garys’ Vineyard’s dense purple color is followed by aromas of sweet camphor, blackberries, cassis, licorice, pepper, and olives. Aged completely in neutral wood, it is an opulent (and) fleshy wine … (RP)" (02/2010) 92 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby with a bright rim. A drop-dead sexy bouquet of red and dark berry scents, with complicating notes of Asian spices, patchouli and dried violet. Sweet black raspberry and mulberry flavors provide excellent palate coverage and pick up notes of olive tapen...

89-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a single grower, but representing for its cru the considerable sum of 9 barrels, Maison Potel’s 2008 Mazoyeres Chambertin smells penetratingly of kirsch, cherry jam, eucalyptus, and incense. Sweetly-fruited, sappy, and expansive on the palate, its underlying tannins come to the fore in a slightly rustic manner in the finish, which however is still impressively gripping, energetic, and intensely fruited as well as pungently herbal. This ought to merit at least a decade of cellaring, though I would want to ...

2008 Quintessa Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (wrinkled label)
New!
93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "There is no big burst of fruit or towering wave of sweet oak to make this one an immediate turner of heads, but there is a real sense of sophistication at work here with plenty of depth and layering right from the start. The wine is at once both slightly supple and fairly firm in feel, and its vitality is hard to ignore. It teases with touches of toast and dusty earth spice while hewing to a very long line of optimally ripened currants, and it has all the right pieces in all the right places to grow famously for ten years o...

95 points Decanter: "Montrose always takes its time, and this is still very much young and austere but with a commanding presence. It's a classically structured Montrose showing crushed slate, tobacco and bilberry and there's no question that it has plenty of life ahead of it. The tannins are among the most chewy on display so far, the fruit tucked in between the layers of acidity, the overall feel one of subdued power. Give it another few years before opening then settle in for the long haul. (JA)" (12/2017) 95 points James Suckling: "The purity and p...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A glass-coating opaque purple color, it is already displaying a complex aromatic array of sandalwood, smoke, espresso, lavender, Asian spices, and assorted blue and black fruits. Smooth-textured, succulent, and structured, it will evolve for 2-3 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2028+. In the scheme of things, it offers great value in top-flight Ribera del Duero. Drink through 2028. (JM)" (05/2011) 90 points Vinous: "Bright purple. 2008 Flanagan Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Back In Stock!
90 points Vinous: "Good full ruby. Rocky, scented nose combines blackberry, licorice, pepper, herbs, graphite and flinty minerality. Spicy and supple, with lush mid-palate flavors of cassis, cola and spices accented by herbs and pepper. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins and repeating minerality, but without quite the structure of the 2007 version. (ST)" (05/2012)

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "In the same league as the otherworldly 2010, the 2009 Le Gay (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) is a totally thrilling Pomerol that’s up with the crème de la crème in this wonderful vintage. Simply loaded with notions of blackcurrants, blackberries, espresso, cedarwood, dried flowers, and incense aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with an opulent, full-bodied, powerful profile yet stays seamless and silky. Possessing perfect balance, beautiful mid-palate depth, sweet, sweet tannins, and no hard edges, it’s just about...

2008 Penfolds "Grange" Shiraz South Australia 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep purple-black in color, the 2008 Grange puts forward a very complex nose packed with aromas of mulberries, layers of baking spices, cloves and cinnamon with nuances of minced meat, anise, potpourri and whiffs of dried mint and chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, taut and very spicy in the mouth, it shows touches of sandalwood and Chinese five spice complementing the layers of dark fruit flavors. It is framed by firm, grainy tannins and a refreshing acid line before finishing very long with aniseed and lingerin...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Stylish wine, balanced, intensely elegant. It has freshness and also weight, encased in a structure that is poised, beautifully integrating black currant fruit and chocolate flavors. " (04/2011) 93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "**Two Stars** Vying for top honors with the wonderfully rich Chateau Lynch Bages, Pichon Longueville Lalande is an outstanding claret of real pedigree whose immense, optimally ripe fruit and richness come with near-perfect balance. Big-bodied but graceful even as its ample tannins take hold, it shows un...

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98JS, 96RP, 96WS, 95ST). James Suckling: "I am speechless. I love the pure aromas of currants, blackberries, minerals and mint -- eucalyptus too. Full body yet so refined and beautiful. Subtle complexity. Great length. Give it two or three years to come together, but hard to hold back." (06/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2008 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir (95BH, 95JG, (92-94RP), 93ST) and 2-bottles of 2008 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah (93JD, 92ST). Of the 2008 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "An exceptionally densely fruited nose that is intensely floral and nuanced with stone, spice and soft earth hints complements to perfection the impressively concentrated medium weight plus flavors that brim with dry extract such that the very firm tannins are rendered almost invisible at present though I suspect that they will become more visible as the baby fat recedes. This broad-scaled effort should age for up to a decade and last several more. Magnificent. The estate wines of Rhys Vineyards are made from biodynamically farmed fruit and owner Kevin Harvey and winemaker Jeff Brinkman contin

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95CG, 94WS, 93JS, 93RP, 93VN, 93WE). Connoisseurs Guide: "Once again, Insignia takes it accustomed place near the very head of the class, and, as usual, it is one of the most polished and well-balanced Cabernets to be had. That is not to say that it in any way lacks for authority, richness or size, for it is an intense and impressively filled wine, and it vies for top honors in a vintage that has provided more than a few noteworthy wines. It drives home the point that big wines can be wonderfully balanced, and, while delicious even now, it will not reach its peak for a good many years to come. *Three Stars*" (12/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Domaine Faiveley Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru (95BH, 94RP, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too evidenced a hint of reduction that almost immediately dissipated. Otherwise, a background touch of wood highlights an expressive and impressively nuanced nose of red berry fruit that displays a broad range of spice and earth note. At present, this is really very backward though there is very good richness to the full-bodied and quite serious flavors that possess plenty of mid-palate extract that renders the dense but fine tannins almost invisible on the moderately austere and superbly long finish." (01/2012)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Jonata "La Sangre de Jonata" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah (97JD, 95RP, 94ST). Jeb Dunnuck: "Beautiful on all fronts, with more upfront appeal and drinkability at the moment than the '07, the 2008 Jonata Winery La Sangre de Jonata delivers a classic array of cassis, coffee, mineral, and bloody meat like aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and powerful, yet incredibly light and balanced, with a blockbuster finish, this is starting to be approachable, yet will still be better in a year or 3. While not as long lived as the '07, its drink window will probably be just as long given how well this is showing at present." (12/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (98RP, 97DC, 97WE, 95JS, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2008 should have been purchased before it began to soar in value because of the significance of the number 8 in the Chinese culture (denoting good luck). Representing 40% of the production, this blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc offers aromas of high quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, earth, cedar and asphalt. Full, rich and stunningly concentrated... The 2008 should be relatively drinkable in 6-10 years as it is already showing remarkable complexity and breed, and will last for 30-35 years...at the minimum. (RP)" (05/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon ((96-97JS), 96VN, 96WS, 94W&S, 94WE, 93RP, 93ST). James Suckling: "I can't wait to taste this in bottle. Bright fruit, with currants and plums on the nose. A powerful and structured palate, with plenty of tannins and a long flavorful finish. This is precise, a combination of the 2006 and 2007. Barrel sample." (02/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore (97JS, 97RP, 97WE, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Ornellaia continues to blossom in the bottle. Dark cherries, chocolate, espresso, blackberries and mocha are just some of the many notes that explode from the glass. A rich tapestry of licorice, tar and camphor notes develop in the glass, adding considerable complexity. The 2008 is a huge, structured Ornellaia endowed with massive structure. It has come together beautifully since the early days when it was a tannic beast. Readers who can be patient will be rewarded with a spectacular bottle of wine. This is a fabulous showing. (AG) " (06/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 No Girls "La Paciencia Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 No Girls Syrah features notes of game, bacon, and blueberry leading to a plush, succulent wine with superb balance and length. To those who have been waiting patiently, don’t let this offer pass you by. (JM)" (08/2011)
Starting Bid: $225.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2008 Pride Mountain "Reserve" Sonoma-Napa Counties Cabernet Sauvignon (95CG, 93ST, 93WE, 92JS, 92RP, 92VN, 90WS). Connoisseurs Guide: "There are times, and this is clearly one of them, when measuring a wine by its label-stated alcohol level is an exercise in self denial. Better that one should measure this one by its gorgeous, focused, deep and balanced character because this is a refined, complex effort with layers and layers of on-point attractions. Its handsome aromas combine notes of ripe cherries with those of raspberries, new leather, hints of cedar and a nice suggestion of rich hardwoods. Admittedly full in body, yet silky in texture and very well-balanced, it hides its inner potency within a polished yet sinewy frame, and like its predecessors from earlier years, will age for a decade and more. *Three Stars*" (05/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Barrett & Barrett Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon (93RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is impeccable from start to finish. It reveals gorgeous, well-delineated aromatics and expressive dark red fruit. Tobacco, spices, leather and licorice are some of the nuances that develop in the glass. This is a gorgeous, beautifully balanced wine made in an accessible, fruit-forward style. It should drink well for the next decade or so... Bo and Heidi Barrett decided to create their own label in 2008 when it looked like Cos d-Estournel was going to buy Chateau Montelena, which would have left the Barretts without a family winery. These are the first releases from Barrett & Barrett. I followed open bottles of both vintages of the Cabernet Sauvignon over several days and was very impressed with the way they held up over that time. The wines are made in a fairly restrained, silky style within the context of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvign
