2003 Margaux, Margaux
Back In Stock!
98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This was the finest performance by this wine that I have seen since it was released. I did not expect the 2003 Chateau Margaux to show this well in a vintage where the southern part of the Medoc was clearly less impressive than the north. However, it is a beautiful, dark plum/purple-tinged effort with sensational aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and a youthfulness, precision and freshness that belie what one generally associates with this vintage. It can be drunk now and over the next 15-20 years. Kudos to Châ...

2003 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac
Back In Stock!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Backward, powerful, and extremely tannic, the dense purple-colored 2003 Mouton-Rothschild, a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, fashioned from yields of 28 hectoliters per hectare, with a finished alcohol of 12.9%, improves dramatically with aeration. With full-bodied, meaty, powerful, dry flavors as well as a huge finish, this high class wine should be at its finest between 2012-2040+. During its sojourn in barrel, it reminded me of a hypothetical blend of the 19...

94 points James Suckling: "Pretty, clean, and perfumed, with a milk chocolate and berry character. Full bodied, with round and velvety tannins and a long finish. Polished and very beautiful, caressing." (03/2011) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A healthy, youthful dark plum/ruby/purple color is followed by a bouquet of smoke, barbecued meats, black currants and new saddle leather. With full body and sweet tannin, this 2003 is strutting its stuff … it is a complex, classic Pauillac to enjoy over the next decade. (RP)" (08/2014) 94 points Win...

Joël Taluau is a fabulous grower in St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire. All his hand-harvested cuvees are based on vine age and soil composition, and the wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel with a light fining and no filtration before bottling. The Vieilles Vignes, from a single plot planted in 1934, has power, depth and grace; this, their flagship wine, will improve for the next 7-9 years but can be enjoyed now for those of you who like a mouthful of wine.

97 points James Suckling: "This controversial wine is fresh and bright still, unlike many of the overrated 2003s. Full-bodied, tight and polished with beautiful intensity and verve. Blackberry and sweet tobacco. Wet earth. Subtle and complex. Straight and direct." (03/2018) 97 points Wine Spectator: "This is a stunner, with the warmth of the vintage marrying ideally with the relative coolness of the terroir to deliver a wide range of vivid plum, boysenberry, raspberry and cherry paste flavors that have energy and drive, carried by a long graphite note ...

Château L’Avocat is from the small commune of Cerons, which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. I met Nicola Allison at a small conference of Women from Bordeaux and Napa Valley in Napa earlier. She followed my advice by sending her wines to our hotel in April to be tasted, and Clyde and I liked them. I followed up by visiting the estate almost eight weeks later and was shown the gravely, plateau vineyards by her husband Sean, who manages the vines. The vineyards were purchased by the Allisons in 2002; the fr...

93 points James Suckling: "Riper than 2000 with sultanas and plums. It’s full with ripe tannins and a juicy finish. Be patient. Try in a year or two." (04/2012) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Beautiful aromas of berry, currant and toasted oak. Intense currant character. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, intense finish. This is very structured and superclean. Excellent stuff." (03/2006) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Les Forts de la Tour possesses a dense ruby/plum/purple color in addition to notions of cold steel, lead pen...
Price: $199.99

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "What a surprise! This wine normally begs for consumption within 2-3 years of its release, but the 2003 reveals how some of these low-level, inexpensive reds can age. Pretty, with copious black currant and black cherry fruit intermixed with floral and sandalwood notes, it is drinking beautifully at present, and should continue to do so for 1-2 more years. (RP)" (08/2014) Wine Spectator: "Very pretty berry, chocolate and currant on the nose. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, caressing finish. Well done. Best after...
Price: $49.99

According to Robert Parker: "Aromas of dried herbs, chocolate, black cherry jam, earth, and spice emerge from this fleshy, ripe, medium to full-bodied, dark plum/ruby-hued 2003. It will provide lovely drinking now and over the next decade." (04/06)
