Wine Spectator: "Medium garnet in color, with earthy aromas. Medium-bodied with sweet fruit, mushroom and earth flavors and a medium finish." (10/1990)
Price: $499.99

Bid on this bottle of 1959 Palmer, Margaux (98VN, 98WS, 97JG, 95RP). Vinous: "The 1959 Palmer is a Margaux of renown, albeit one eclipsed by the peerless 1961. This bottle testified to the awe that it has invoked in some of my friends, the best bottle that I have tasted. The first word that I jotted down? “Wow”. The aromatics soar from the glass with intense blackberry, cassis, juniper berry and violets that brilliantly defined and display astonishing focus. The palate is perfectly balanced with sweet and filigree tannin. This Margaux is that paradoxical blend of power and elegance, the archetypal iron fist in a velvety glove. The purity of the wine remarkable. Yes, maybe you could quibble that there is a touch of volatility on the finish that would not be evident on the 1961 but otherwise, this is a majestic Palmer that judging by this performance, will continue to drink well for many years. Bid on this bottle of 1959 Pichon Lalande, Pauillac (98WS, 92VN). Wine Spectator: "This has the range of the '61, with similar dried currant, fig and blackberry fruit forming the core, but the tannins are more prominent from the start. Alder and cedar base notes carry the tar-tinged finish, leading to an echo of bitter orange, iron and charcoal as this grows steadily and authoritatively in the glass. A tad longer than the '61. (JM, Web only-2014)"
Starting Bid: $290.00

Bid on this bottle of 1959 Montrose, St-Estèphe (96JG, 96WS, 93RP, 93VN). Wine Spectator: "Aromas of ceps and other mushrooms with light currants and berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a cedar and light tobacco aftertaste. Soft and silky. Lovely old wine to enjoy and reflect on. (JS, Web-2006)"
Starting Bid: $530.00
