Producer's notes: "Contrary to common belief, Nouveau wine is the most difficult one to make and sell. In record time (around 4 weeks), you have to craft a wine that will be ready to drink on 3rd Thursday in November (in France). We don’t do any special vinifications for our Nouveau wines. It is on tasting that Pierre-Marie selects, from 20th October, the most supple cuvées with the best fruit expression for the assembly of his Beaujolais Nouveau Griottes. This cuvée is the epitome of Beaujolais Nouveau while remaining natural, with subtle aromas and fl...

From the brewery: "2017 was our first release of Big Bad Baptista, a barrel-aged stout inspired by Café de Olla. You loved it so much we had to release more in 2018. We missed it in 2019 so for 2020 we wanted to bring back Baptista, but with a vengeance! Inspired by the smokey bite of Mezcal, we added a pinch of smoked malt and a dash of salt to the mix of the Café de Olla spices. Badder Baptista is the Vaquero Bandito of the Baptist family. Don’t mess with this hombre, he’s the Baddest Baptist yet."

Radley & Finch is a range of varietal wines made by Thinus Kruger and Pascal Schildt. The name was inspired from the famous book: To Kill a Mockingbird, but unlike the serious nature of the book, these wines aim to reflect a typical and light-hearted style of wine true to the most enjoyed grape varieties originating in South Africa. The motto: Optimism, beats the pants off pessimism. The goals is for the wines to be an honest path for wine drinkers to delve into the special world of premium South African wines over time. The majority of the grapes for t...

Sourced from across the broad Western Cape region of South Africa, Radley & Finch offers this Chenin Blanc at an attractive entry-level price. Grapes were sourced from both bush vines and trellised vines primarily in the Agter Paarl and Swartland regions. Winemaker Thinus Kruger primarily utilized indigenous yeasts in a particularly slow fermentation to develop complexity. The result is a citrusy and yellow-fruited profile with hints of spice and grain. It is ready to drink right now, but will fill out and add complexity for a couple of years.

Gifted Branch utilizes whole fresh Fiesta Gem Peaches and Golden Sweet Apricots to capture the juicy notes of fruit flesh and the floral aromatics of fruit skin. We packed as much fresh fruit as we could into oak barrels and let it condition on golden sour beer until it reached perfection. The innate stone fruit character expressed by our mixed culture provides the perfect canvas for the balanced, succulent flavors of the peaches and apricots.

94 points James Suckling: "This wine has been a rising star and now really sits as one of the best value wines in its style. The nose is all crushed flowers and light red-fruit perfume and there’s a very attractive fusion of gently flinty, wet-stone notes with raspberries and red cherries. The lacy tannins are so finely cut and there’s freshness and depth that really sing here. Playful, yet precise. This is a real gem. Drink now. Screw cap." (08/2020)

Earlier this year I started getting some requests for "Piquette". I'll confess I wasn't familar with this type of "wine" but was intrigued none the less. This peculiar method of re-fermenting pomace with water then adding a little spritz is becoming more and more popular with folks seeking a zesty, refreshing beverage without high alcohol levels. Check it out! (Ryan Woodhouse K&L Wine Buyer) Winery Notes: "When wine is too much, and water is too little, there is Piquette. This "Wine Like Beverage" is made by re-fermenting the grape skins and stems afte...

Stolpman's "Love You Bunches" used to be released around Valentine's Day, but in 2020, why wait? Why wait, indeed, when the carbonic maceration method employed by this innovative Central Coast winery, which keeps the "bunches" of grapes intact during fermentation, and greatly lessens harsh tannin extraction while keeping acidity high and alcohol low, from an earlier picking, results in an early-drinking, fresh and fruity Sangiovese wine! Here's an artifact of "2020" you'll be glad to have finished, with joy!

"Cosmic Dust is an interstellar adventure through the never-ending void that is space and time. Bright citrus and sweet fruit punch notes resonate harmoniously with the cosmic vibrations of the mixed fermentation expression. Our intention with this galactical beer was to really let the hibiscus shine. By doubling the amount of dried hibiscus flower that we have used in previous blends, we were able to not only showcase the vibrant magenta color but also extract the subtle floral aromas, and notes of cherry, strawberry, Meyer lemon, and pomelo. We didn'...

2020 Gosling's Papa Seal "2020 Release" Single Barrel Bermuda Rum (750ml) (Elsewhere $200) (Elsewhere $200)
Top Pick!
The second release of Gosling's top of the line bottling pays homage to 165 years of family owned history. This rum was blended together from multiple Carribean sources, as is tradition in Bermuda, and is a combination of pot and column distilled rums ranging in age between 10 and 21 years old. The blend is then placed into American white oak barrels and married for an additional 2 years in Bermuda's hot and humid climate. These barrels were then bottled individually. The ultimate luxury sipping rum, only 1500 bottles were produced in total for the 2020 ...

Styled after "Beaujolais nouveau" and coming from just east of Napa, this is the kind of Valdiguié that shows just why it was known in California as "Napa Gamay" for so many years. Distributor notes: "This is a fully formed wine, despite its exceptional youth. The color is a bright, ruby red. The nose is serious and wild; crushed raspberries, roses, wet earth dominate with a small amount of the banana that one would expect from a 100% carbonic wine. The palate is surprisingly structured with a length uncommon in a wine of its age."
