94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso has a beguiling nose of exotic spices and black berry preserves with hints of sandalwood and potpourri. The ripeness of the tannins go a long way in elevating this rich, concentrated multi-layered beauty, with a finish that just goes on and on. One to watch! (LPB)" (02/2017) 95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the flagship releases of the estate is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso, which is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tangy red cherry, rose petal and spicy cola combine on the palate around softened, silky tannins. Though smooth in feel, the palate still offers plenty of defined structure and elegant acidity. (VB)" (04/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "Lots of dried berry, meat and walnut aromas follow through to a full body, with layers of fruit and a juicy finish. Hints of chocolate and vanilla underneath it. Drink or hold." (01/2018)

94 points James Suckling: "Beautiful tobacco, berry and herb. Lots of sweet tobacco. Full body, round tannins and juicy fruit character. Soft and delicious. Savory. Salty and delicious. You want to drink it now, so do. " (05/2017) 93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon L’Esprit des Pavots is a dark, brooding wine. Deep and layered in the glass, with terrific aromatic intensity, the 2014 captures the essence of this Knights Valley site. In 2014, the Esprit is beautifully persistent and expressive. In short, this is a terrific vintage for L’Espri...

97 points James Suckling: "Very powerful aromas of dried spices and cloves with oyster shell and plums. Sandalwood. Bark. Full body. Dense and powerful. Very long and flavorful. Unique. Drink now." (05/2017) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The production of the 2014 Pinot Noirs ranges from a low of 543 cases for the Clos du Ciel to a high of 1,227 cases for the Ma Danseuse. All of these Pinot Noirs are made from what is simply called a Vosne-Romanée clone, which is code, I expect, for a vineyard such as Romanée-Conti or La Tâche, but no one’s...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a vaguely liqueur-like quality to the pure essence of red berries that exhibit a wide range of spice and floral characters. The sleek and silky medium-bodied flavors possess a sophisticated mouth feel thanks to the supporting fine-grained tannins that also shape the beautifully well-balanced and highly persistent finale. This will need a few years to better develop additional depth but the underling material should be up to the challenge. *Outstanding*" (04/2017) 93 points Vinous: "Floral and savory notes ...

94 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Ritchie Vineyard is bright, focused and nuanced throughout, with plenty of supporting acidity to balance the intensity of the fruit. Sweet dark cherry, lavender and cloves are all pushed forward. This is an especially linear, energetic Ritchie Pinot with everything in the right place. The Ritchie is also the most structured of these Pinots, although there is plenty of the richness that Mark Aubert coaxes from his vineyard sites. (AG)" (02/2016) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tasted the four cuvées of ...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers firm, fine-grained tannins, with supple flavors of ripe plum, cherry and blueberry, all delicate and refined. The tannins add traction on the finish. (JL)" (08/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another generic cuvée, the 2014 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is more earthy and spicy, with notes of underbrush and black cherry fruit. This soft, easygoing, yet complex Pinot Noir offers a spicy contrast to the Sonoma Coast... This estate continues to turn out a bevy of fine wines at generally realistic prices. (RP)" (08...

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As for the 2014s, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Slope from the Hidden Ridge vineyard does not suffer in comparison with the extraordinary efforts of 2013. Still a barrel sample, its riveting richness, concentration, texture and density represent another legend in the making. Crème de cassis, licorice, blackberry, earthiness and spice are all present in this magnificent example of Cabernet Sauvignon that should age beautifully for 25-30+ years. When I first started doing my centralized tastings of the many wineri...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2014 Syrah Estate Vineyard is very much in the style of the vintage with its balance and purity, yet packs serious richness and depth in its blackcurrants, black olive, bacon fat, herbes de Provence, and both white and black pepper aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, locked and loaded, with awesome fruit, a distinct, mountain-like minerality, perfect balance, and silky tannins, this is a truly brilliant wine from Justin Harmon and the real deal. Don’t miss it. It should keep for 15 years." (01/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wi...

91 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard is one of the more immediate and fruity of the wines here. Sweet red cherry, plum, cola, spice and new leather are all pushed forward. As is often the case, the Kanzler will drink nicely with minimal cellaring. Once again, because of its overtness and super-riper character (typical of the Russian River and Sebastopol Hills), the Kanzler seems a bit out of place in this range. (AG)" (02/2016)

93 points Vinous: "Beams of tannin and an overall dark flavor profile give the 2014 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard much of its distinctive, virile personality. One of the more structured wines in the range, the Fredrick needs time in bottle to soften. Even so, the Fredericks has developed beautifully over the last year. Intense red stone fruit, white pepper, mint and chalk notes, along with the signature mineral notes from these volcanic soils, give the wine much of its drive and overall focus. (AG)" (12/2016) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "F...

Vintage notes from the winery: "At Lytton West in 2004, Ridge planted a parcel of primitivo, a zinfandel clone from the Puglia region of Italy. After two years of heavy yields, the vines set a light crop that ripened evenly but quickly. When fermented, it was apparent this was the most structured, full-bodied primitivo we have produced. To enhance acidity and balance tannins, we included some carignane. Approachable now, this excellent wine will evolve over the next five to six years."
Price: $39.99

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Equally provocative and profound is the magnificent 2014 Chardonnay Point Rouge. Complex notes of tropical fruits intermixed with toast, smoked almonds, brioche and white peach are stunning in this prodigious, full-bodied, multidimensional Chardonnay. Both the 2015 and 2014 are 10- to 15-year wines, but extremely difficult to find in the marketplace. As I have mentioned in the past, readers should note the slight greenish hue to all of the Peter Michael Chardonnays, which seems to be a healthy sign of high-qualit...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Pungent layers of earthiness, a mix of black tea, compost, clove and forest pine, are at the forefront of this structured, densely packed red. The fruit in this wine shows a lean tart slice of wild strawberry and cranberry. The body is structured and elegant, with plenty of complexity for aging. Enjoy 2020–2024. (VB)" (07/2018) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "An early harvest and a generous crop produced this red-fruited beauty, its bright cherry flavors wrapped in the smokiness of new oak. This vintage is directly fruity, though...

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 La Muse (2,800 cases ) is a legendary effort. The wine offers an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of lead pencil shavings, blackberry, incense, Asian spice, cocoa, plum, and a touch of chocolate and barrique. On the palate, more cassis and blackberry come to the forefront. The wine is unctuous, with adequate acidity and a stunning energy underneath the massive fruit and body. This is a spectacularly fragrant and, at the same time, dense wine, with enough structure (somewhat surprising in this vin...

Gold medals at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and 2018 West Coast Wine Competition. Pepper spice, inky blackness with notes of boysenberry and pomegranate. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Earthy in forest, pine and mushroom, this wine is slightly reduced and youthfully concentrated. Lively acidity supports a strong tannic structure, with a sturdy toasted oak flavor matched by a mix of black and red currant. It shows potential for aging. Enjoy from 2024–2029. (VB)" (11/2018) 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Laurel Glen Vineyard comes from a site in the Sonoma Mountain AVA and spent 22 months in 60% new French oak. Its deep purple/plum color is followed by a terrific perfume of cassis and blu...

From the winemaker: "I started with 5 gallons of Zinfandel in my kitchen. Over the next several years, I made a barrel of Zinfandel each vintage with the help of some friends and my wife, Kendall Carlisle. The results were encouraging. Kendall and I moved to Santa Rosa in Sonoma County to be closer to the “source”. I found myself increasingly drawn to the old-vine vineyards of Sonoma County. There was something special, even magical, about those ancient, twisted vines. By 1997 we were producing over 300 cases of “garage” wine, mostly different vineyard d...

94 points Vinous: "One of the most distinctive wines in this range, the 2014 Zinfandel DuPratt Vineyard, from a site in Mendocino Ridge, is wonderfully aromatic, nuanced and lifted. Bright red and bluish-hued fruits, violet, lavender and sage are some of the signatures in this beautifully delineated, vibrant, mid-weight Zinfandel. The gorgeous, restrained Zinfandel is showing very well today. There are plenty of highlights in this set of new and upcoming releases from Carlisle and proprietor Mike Officer. The first thing that is evident is a move towards...

Only 94 cases of this wine were made. Harvested on September 22 at 24.3 Brix, the fruit was then destemmed and cold soaked for five days before fermentation. It was then aged in neutral French oak for 14 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Price: $39.99

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a layered and complex estate-driven wine. Its firm, sizable tannin foundation promises longevity and enviable structure, while allowing for a plush, lush exuberance of cherry clafoutis, cardamom and salted caramel. Enjoy best 2022 through 2029. *Cellar Selection* (VB)" (02/2017)

90 points Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay Joy Road Vineyard is another powerful wine built on intensity, but it is also a bit narrow next to the other wines in the range. With time in the glass, the wine wine opens up nicely, releasing hints of lemon peel, white flowers and smoke. Readers should plan on giving the 2014 a good bit of air. (AG)" (02/2016)
